NaBloPoMo Day #9

My treasures came today!!!!  So happy!  I ordered some scrap materials from Temecula Quilt Co. and also a quilt kit to make a 9" x 12" little quilt..........
the back of the scrap package....I love all their fabrics...........

here's the little quilt kit...too cute!

here are the fabrics for it.........love!  and there's some cheddar fabric in there....I love cheddar cheese and cheddar fabric!
I also got 3 of 14 rows sewn on my Grannies Scrap Quilt............

In order not to get them mixed up, because there is a design to the placing of the rows together, I labeled them and hung them so they would not get wrinkled and also so Miss Peeps would not get them..lol!
I found a free cross stitch design being given by Priscilla and Chelsea of The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch...it's a Christmas chicken and so cute called Chicken Joy!  You can get it on Priscilla's blog here
I decided to blog early as the Iowa Hawkeyes are playing their biggest rival, the Wisconsin Badgers at 3:00 p.m. and I want to have everything done and ready to watch!  I'll be working on my Stars and Stripes Saturday and I need to get my Ed Debevic's roast prepped and ready for my supper tonight.
I hope you are enjoying your Saturday!
Happy Trails!!!

NaBloPoMo Day #8

It was Walmart shopping day.  I made a list and a menu and off I went AFTER I scraped the ice off my car!  Yes, it was 24 F  this morning when I got up and it is a high of 42 today.....this is more like January!  Oh well.....it's still nice but just surprising for this time of year.

I got a few extras while I was at Wally World.........sheets!  I needed these and they were only $20 so I thought I would give them a try.  My daughter bought me some at Walmart a few years back and I still use them although all my old sheet sets need new elastic for the fitted sheets.  I've often thought I would like to make my own sheets but haven't done it yet.....it needs to go on The List....

Then I picked up more yarn......REALLY?  It reminds me of the Iowa Hawkeye colors.....hmmm....I wonder what that might be?  I bet it's something for someone for Christmas.............but what?  Who? I'm not telling!
I have been able to make a few gifts and also pick up a few gifts this past month....that feels good to get a jump start on Christmas..........
My treasures did not come today....maybe tomorrow?  But I told myself that regardless I was going to quilt/sew today so I dragged out this project that I'm not sure I have all the material for but I will go as far as I can..............

I got the groceries all put away and I'm doing some laundry and that will be about it for today.  I got a pizza for tonight and a roast for tomorrow........now to relax!
Happy Trails!!!

NaBloPoMo Day #7

I was hoping a 'treasure'  would come in the mail but alas....it is not here today....maybe tomorrow?  I ordered something from Temecula Quilt Co.  They have such gorgeous fabrics and kits and patterns.  I love their little quilts and that is what I am looking forward to.
I found a delightful podcast last night about a gal organizing and designing and implementing a cozy sewing room for herself in her New York City apartment.
Her name is Bernadette Banner and the You Tube video was called "Turning My Apartment into a Cosy Sewing Space and Organizing Things".  It was very interesting and inspiring.
I did manage to photograph my recent Blaithin CAL squares....the latest 4 solid ones...........

and then I started on the next 4 flower squares which are called Cosmos, I think........it's been raining for the past 2 days so the light is pretty dim............
I went through some more files....paperwork is like slogging through quicksand.....I get slower and slower.  I have a few more files to go yet but I can only stand to do it for so long each day.......it is starting to follow the "law of diminishing returns".  Tonight I'll make another partial menu and grocery list so I can head out to Walmart tomorrow in the sunshine that is supposed to arrive.  I'm off to my crafts room to see what treasures I might uncover....oh, and clean too.
Happy Trails!!!

NaBloPoMo Day #6

Not a very exciting post as I almost totally forgot to post!  I was so busy going through things that I literally got lost in the process.......I cleaned off my desk today which if you knew me....that can be a major activity at times............the fact that I have been going through things for the last several months has made a real difference, I must say........things, rooms, etc are becoming easier to maintain......Hallelujah!

the rest of the afternoon was spent cleaning out my entire file system.....it needed it!  I have a garbage full of paper to prove it and also a bucket of papers to burn...way too much to shred....I would be at it forever...........
Not a fun job but when it's done  there's a great sense of satisfaction.
I did work on 2 more solid Blaithin squares but forgot to take a picture so that will be tomorrow.
I hope you had a productive and enjoyable day!
Happy Trails!!!

NaBloPoMo Day #5

Another beautiful Fall day here and 60's F...perfect for outdoor work and painting............
the white is gone!  Like I said...more coats are needed but at least it's better than it was and I'll get done what I can as long as the weather holds.............
My oak trees in front are slow to lose their leaves....like the last ones in the neighborhood!
The Halloween decor is gone but the harvest/Thanksgiving  items are still going strong...........

Miss Grace wanted to come outside so badly..............
I came in and made my Raisin Bran Muffins.....a retro throwback to when my kids were little.......link to the recipe
These are called 6 week muffins because you make a huge bowl of batter and then it can stay in the frig for up to 6 weeks and you can bake as many or as few as you want.  They're great for breakfast, tea time and I like them with soup or anything! LOL!
I just made 6 muffins for me for today...........disclaimer........I have not tasted these yet so maker beware.....there are many recipes out there for these............

I managed to get a couple solid Blaithin squares done....the green one still needs a black row but it will get finished tonight most probably.........
I hope you had a good day......I have the windows open again.......heaven!
Happy Trails!!!

NaBloPoMo Day #4

It's a gorgeous day here so I was able to get a little more painting done..........and evidently while I was out there a spider crawled in my hair!  Yikes! He started crawling out down my forehead while I was doing this blog and he was not a gentle looking spider either!  I swiped him to the floor and killed him...yes, it's probably an unfounded fear but I am allergic to some and one landed me in the hospital one time so.....he's a goner now.  Most of the time I try to take them outside but this one was too close for comfort!  Anyway, I did get some painting done...........the other section of the door on the right.....next will be the white and it will all require 3 coats in the end.
Today I emptied and relined the garbages in the house and got the garbage can out to the street for tomorrow's pickup.  I called in a prescription, went to the library and picked up my medicine.  I've done a load of laundry and gotten all the Halloween stuff packed away and in the basement.  Walmart was supposed to deliver my groceries Saturday but they said on my tracking that it would be Monday....well, here it is Monday and still no groceries but I noticed they took the money out today and they don't do that until they know it is on the truck.  That's what I get for bragging about them!
I finished my 4th and final Ragwort square.  I have some ends to weave in and I still have the 4 solid squares to do...........

I've got the yarns ready for the first one......in my fancy Ziplock project bag! LOL!

I did manage to find a box to put my finished squares in.....I think it is for photos but it will do........

Evidently the Christmas season has started because I got 4 catalogs in the mail today!  The Play Together catalog is from Amazon!  I didn't know they were sending out catalogs?  It's news to me!
My soup turned out good last night and I'll be having it again tonight!  Now I need to go do some clearing and cleaning and then there's Monthly Monday cross stitch to work on.
I hope you are off to a great start this week!
Happy Trails!!!

YOP Week #18

Not a lot of crafting this week.  I've been trying to organize said crafts and materials.  I did manage to get some Ragwort squares done for the Blaithin CAL..........still not caught up though

I also got a knitted rectangular scrubbie done except for weaving in the ends.
I'm very tired this weekend but my sinus infection has cleared up...at least my teeth no longer hurt.
I spent some time window shopping online yesterday for some quilt books I've had my eyes on for awhile and Connecting Threads had their craft books on sale for 40%-50% off!  I'll probably be purchasing a few tomorrow.  I'm off to make soup now for supper.  My favorite....Penzey's Beer, Brat and Cheddar Soup......5  stars!!!  I hope I stay awake long enough to make it!  What is wrong with me?  I think I'm like the bears....I go into hibernation mode when it gets chilly!
Happy Trails!!!
