Stitch Maynia Day #22

It stormed a good couple times today!  Very cozy while I spent almost the whole day making my menu and grocery list and then ordering it for pickup tomorrow morning between 7-8 a.m.
My daughter is doing fine other than a little soreness.  No more episodes of acid reflux which is what the diagnosis was.  My dinner was not good at all and I got sick from it so I think the ham went bad on me!  I will have to throw the dinner and the ham out as I can't take a chance.
On the bright side, I got some treasures in the mail today!  In fact, yesterday I got a pair of slacks I ordered from QVC on Monday!  They are fast!  Today, I got an order from Amazon which actually was faster than usual also.....under 2 weeks...amazing Amazon since I don't have Prime and they usually let it sit there for 2 weeks before they send it trying to get people to sign up for Prime!  Bezo's a bozo!  Anyway, I got my Lykke driftwood size 6 40 inch circular to start my habitation shawl by Helen Stewart!
I also got this book which Joanna from Stitching the High Notes podcast raved about so I went down that rabbit hole! It looks so good I had a hard time not plopping down during the storm and reading but I had to get my grocery order in for tomorrow as the rest of the weekend and beyond is rain and thunderstorms.  So, I have plenty of interesting things to do over the Memorial Day weekend!
I decided to use my hand-dyed material for Penelope and Peep pattern even though it didn't turn out like I wanted.  I'm hoping once I get it stitched it will look better.  I'm sure it will turn out as the pattern is so cute!  Here is my fabric...both sides............dyed with Rit Denim Blue and then tea/coffee dyed.

Here's the pattern by Priscilla and Chelsea of The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch.....
I didn't get too far on it as I was so focused on the menu, grocery list, and ordering.
I had a close call with the mailman today.  When they leave a package they usually knock on the door and then walk away....well, I heard the knock and waited just a bit.  I went to the door and opened it and there he was with my storm door open too, evidently wanting to leave the package inside the door as it was raining really hard.  Surprise, surprise and he didn't walk away either.  We were not social distancing that's for sure and he made no effort to either and kept my storm door open talking to me.  People here are not taking this seriously evidently.  That is the only "close encounter" I've had but I don't want another one so no more answering my door!  If I get sick I'll know how and when!
I've been so careful but I think people think that if they aren't sick they can't pass it on but they can! I hope you didn't have any close encounters!
Happy Trails!!!

Stitch Maynia Day #21

Great day here but it's strange....it's cloudy all day like it's going to rain any minute and then when the day is just about done, the sun comes out.  It has done this for the last 3 days!  But it doesn't rain so I am able to take my walk and I washed and hung a load of clothes out today.  I baked a loaf of bread this morning..........
Worked on my Stitch Maynia project for Day #21...this is a memorial stitch for 9/11 victims.....
I did some "investigative journalism" and discovered I indeed have a white lilac tree.....Far Side of 50 guessed right and as well she should since she had her own greenhouse!  Thank you Connie!  Here are the pictures......

Here is is the Jasmine plant........

I'm cooking a ham, pasta, cheese, and pea dish with a cream sauce.  It was just an idea recipe and the author didn't mention amounts of anything so we shall see how it turns out! LOL!  I'm not a creative cook.  I'm cleaning out the frig too and freezing the rest of the ham.  It's time for a new menu and grocery list again!
That's all for today folks!
Happy Trails!!!

Stitch Maynia Day #20

Where does the time go?  I am "dancing as fast as I can" but I never seem to make much progress.  Today I cleaned and washed litter boxes and vacuumed and took my walk.  I repotted 2 plants.  I cleaned up the kitchen and unloaded and loaded the dishwasher.  I prepped Stitch Maynia #20 and worked on it a bit but that was about it.

Here's the little plant I got on Valentine's Day and it continues to bloom!  I repotted it as it was in about 1/4 cup of soil.  Hardy little plant.  I like that kind.
  I repotted this one also...............
I worked on a free pattern I got from Lela Mae Designs...........
this is how far I got..........I chose some colors that I had gotten at the Thrift Store that weren't marked but the yellow was variegated so I thought that would look nice and it does.
Does anyone know what this is? My neighbor has one blooming in her front yard and all of a sudden it seems that I do too!  It seemed to come out of nowhere!  It smells good too!
That's all for today.  I hope you are all well, happy, and have plenty of what you need!
Happy Trails!!!

Stitch Maynia Day #19

Daughter is doing well.  She's resting, limping, not lifting, and drinking lots of water.  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.  She'll go to her family physician next week for a follow-up. I didn't get a lot done today.......again!  I took my walk, did daily chores, filled water bottles, and made jar salads.  I emptied the compost and dyed some powder blue fabric which now looks gray...not what I was looking for.
This is my Day #19 project for Stitch Maynia.........
and here is how far I got........I'm so glad I got that needle minder.....they really come in handy and that magnet is strong!  No more lost needles!
The 2 buds that were on the stem I cut off from my peony bush bloomed today!  They're not quite as big but they smell just as good!
I also got a treasure in the mail but not for Stitch Maynia..........it's for Jolly July! LOL!  Remember that?  You stitch Christmas and/or holiday items.  I have most of mine but this one I have wanted since last year................most will be ornaments except for this beauty!  Priscilla of The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch podcast did this and it is gorgeous!
That's all for now.  I hope you are staying safe and sane!
Happy Trails!!!

Stitch Maynia Day #18

This day got off with a bang!  My daughter called and she was in the hospital.  She is fine but it was a little scary for awhile there.  She took herself at 2:30 in the morning after she was in terrible pain and throwing up.  They did an EKG and it wasn't good.  They did an angiogram later and it was fine so they gave her some pain medicine to soothe her throat from the acid reflux and sent her home.  Her bloodwork was all good too. She's okay, thank goodness.  We have no idea what happened and the doctors didn't really either other than maybe stress and some spicy food?  I hope it doesn't happen again!
I took my walk and prepped and worked on Stitch Maynia project #18.........this is the one in memory of James, my son that passed.  I was going to start it on Mother's Day but then I thought that might be a bit much and then I started it today and Amy ended up in the hospital..........that was scary!  But it got started..........

I finally finished my inventory of DMC flosses............ I highlighted in yellow the ones I have in my floss boxes on the cards and the orange are the colors that I have in the Floss-Away bags.  I have not written an inventory of my 'fancy' flosses but that won't be difficult as I don't have that many.  I ran out of floss bags and still need to find a way to organize them.  Maybe those rings?
I need to fill in my Cross Stitch Journal too.  They have these at Fat Quarter Shop and they are nice for keeping track of your projects, floss used and fabric etc.  This one was gifted to me.
The inventory took most of the day but it's done and now I need to order some material and a few missing flosses for projects and then I should be done for Stitch Maynia 2020.
Yesterday afternoon I made some Anzac biscuits....very good!  The recipe is on the King Arthur Flour website and I got the inspiration from  e-i-e-i-omg's blog on my sidebar.  They're not burnt...they're supposed to be dark.
That's all for today and I am so grateful my daughter is alright!  That was scary!  I hope all of you are alright also!
Happy Trails!!!

YOP Week #46

Stitch Maynia has taken over my life!  I love it but prepping and dyeing fabric and cutting and stitching the edges and gathering up the floss is a project in and of itself much less getting any stitching done.  But I love it and once it is over I will have all kinds of projects to work on until next year!  That doesn't count knitting, crocheting, sewing, and on and on!
It's been raining on and off all week and no surprise we have river flood warnings which won't affect me but there are many who will be affected.
I've started a new Stitch Maynia project each and every day this past week and you can see them all on my daily posts.  Yesterday I started this one for day #16 as I don't blog on Saturdays.......
It is by Lizzie Kate and the name of it is All Things Bright And Beautiful.....not much done but it's a start.  This will be a nice one for summer.........
This is one of my new project bags with the number 16 on it for Day 16.  I love the numbers as they really help to keep the projects and days straight and there are exactly 31 numbers...perfect!

The one for today is .............by Little House Needleworks and it is called "Suffrage Act"
This is the one my needle minder matches....some people have matching ones for each project!
Some of you may remember this old finished object but I never final finished it so I am trying now.
I found some buttons to attach to it.........after sewing them on I will trim it out, use some interfacing on it, find some trim, and sew it into a little pillow if all goes well.  It would be nice to have it ready for Memorial Day.
I played yarn chicken this week and lost.........one more round to go and I ran out.....
The vote's not in on this one yet but it is not looking good.....
I did finish one completely with yarn left over.......
Other than that I have been trying to organize my floss so I printed off a complete 2020 list of DMC floss so I could check off the ones I have.  Unfortunately, I am out of magenta ink so I had to print it in black and white.  My ink will probably come tomorrow!  I have to get a handle on these flosses though for my projects and see which other ones I still need.  It is a nice list on www.cyberstitches.com
I will repost this treasure of yarn I got this past week simply because it is SO beautiful!!! It is Harry Potter minis by Norah George.  I am wanting to start a Habitation Throw by Helen Stewart.  I am waiting for a no.6 U.S. circular needle with a 40 " cable to arrive so I can start it.  I think it takes like 24 mini-skeins so I will need more but this should keep me going for a while.
That's all I could squeeze in for this week!  Stay safe and stay well!
Happy Trails!!!
