Fantastic Friday!!!

I'm so sorry I haven't visited very well this week but it was a busy one for someone who is retired and doesn't go anywhere! LOL!  I had my telemedicine call with my doctor and he proclaimed I am one of his healthiest patients!  I told him my weight and he said don't worry about it...you're fine.  I didn't say anything but in reality, I don't worry about it.  I've never been on a diet and I don't plan on it! LOL!  I eat fairly healthy and exercise so that's the best I can do at my age.  In fact, if you ever have to be hospitalized it's better to have a few extra pounds to get you through!
After that, I worked on my taxes as when they were deferred because of the pandemic I put them off.  But they are finished and electronically filed and I am getting a refund from state and federal!  I must have been a good girl this year!  I could use a little extra with birthdays and Jolly July and the new YOP year all looming!  I got some supplies in the mail today............aren't they gorgeous?  They are already committed to my first YOP project of 2020-2021............you'll have to wait and see what it is.
I'm also doing a SAL with Jeanna of Slammin the Screen Door blog....I won the Liberty pattern and she already had hers so today I ordered the floss and a few little "extras".
 Yesterday I planted and transplanted and burned and weeded and trimmed!  Then last night I started a wasp's nest..........to keep them away..........they suggest gray or brown or evidently by the picture...blue too.  We'll see how it goes.  It's a free pattern on Ravelry, I think?
I hope you had a wonderful day today and enjoy the weekend!

Terrific Thursday!!!

I must have needed sleep because I went to bed early and slept great and woke up ready to tackle the world.  I took my walk and saw some lovely new blooms............little tiny daisies
 and then bigger ones..........
 there's a whole bunch of them along the roadside even though they mowed them down once they came back!
 some very tiny yellow flowers......
 Black-eyed or brown-eyed Susans are up............
 I have no idea what the rest of these are but they are pretty...........

 God does a better job in the ditches than I do in my yard.....here's what's blooming in my yard.....

 and my cherry tomato plant has flowers!!!  Can you see them?
My eggplant parmesan was wonderful last night with a spinach and kale salad.........and the great thing is there are leftovers!

I hope you had a great and fulfilling day!

Woeful Wednesday!!!

So tired today!  I'm taking my vitamins, getting my rest, and exercising so what's the problem?   Tell me it isn't old age!
Other than daily chores I have done little.  I did call City Hall and found out that they still charge for picking up yard debris.  She said they must have made a mistake.  Lucky for me they did!
I'm also online shopping for birthdays.
I am making eggplant parmesan...one of my all-time favorite meals.  I just finished roasting the eggplant.
Now I need to go put it all together so I have something to eat tonight!
Happy Trails!!!

Tread lightly Tuesday.........

 Not a lot going on today.  Just little chores like watering plants, filling water bottles, cleaning litter boxes.  Just one of those lazy days where progress is an uphill battle.
I got my other book from Thriftbooks today...............someone recommended this book but I can't remember who.....it's a non-fiction memoir by a man growing up in the English countryside in the early 1900's..........

 I ran across a nice skein of yarn I didn't know I had...wool no less!
  I also used my new blood pressure monitor and it was all good!  I found my scale and weighed myself and that was not so good and I have been walking every day!  Dang it. But then I haven't stopped eating either.  Maybe walking gives me a bigger appetite?
I hope you had a more productive day than me!
Happy Trails!!!

Book Monday!!!

I had a worrisome evening and day today though because I misplaced my glasses!  I never do that and I searched everywhere!  Plus, tomorrow is garbage day but I was afraid to throw it out for fear they had accidentally fallen into the garbage.  I was not looking forward to going through garbage bags!  Ick!  But, PTL, I found them this afternoon, did not have to go through the garbage and was able to get all the garbage out to the street along with a bunch of cardboard boxes.  Whew!
Aside from that, it was a great day!  I took my walk early and then trimmed, weeded, and burned outside.  I planted up a pot of flowers and prepped a few more pots for planting.  I got the mail and there were treasures!
                                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yums arrived from across the pond!  I ordered this box to try them out and I thought it would be a nice treat to try things from around the world since I won't be traveling.  Can you guess where the first box came from?
 Yes!  The U.K.!  They all look pretty tasty except I'm not sure about the Welsh Lamb and Mint potato crisps....we shall see but probably not today! LOL!
 It's a subscription box for $15 a month.  Not sure if I will continue but at least the snacks from overseas do not use artficial anything and good ingredients.
                                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 It was also very timely that I got my book order in the mail as it is Book Monday!  This is the first book in a new series that Lavender Dreamer recommended and we are always on the same page when it comes to books! Excuse the pun! LOL! I can't wait to start this one!
 and I got the 2nd book in the Dr. Nightingale mystery series about a veterinarian. The first one was great!
 I finished Murder Gets A Life by Anne George.  The Southern Sisters book #5....I  am waiting for book #1 to arrive.  These books are hysterical and a good mystery too!
So, I have read 18 of the 75 books I challenged myself to read this year.  I am 16 books behind at this point.
                                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 I have been watching Stitching The High Notes daily vlogs and watching Betsy Makes podcasts and reading her blog.  I'm also watching Miss Fisher's Mystery Club on Acorn t.v.  All of the above are really good!  I got all kinds of ideas from Betsy Makes and have started my plans for YOP 2020-2021.
                                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I heard some rustling in the other room today and guess who I found................Miss Peeps! LOL!
She is my daytime companion and sleeps at night while Grace sleeps during the day and is up at night.  Actually, Nitty and Annie did the same thing.   I think they take turns being "on duty". :)
That's all for today folks.  I hope you had a good one!
Happy Trails!!!

YOP Week #50

Another productive week but mostly outside and around the house.  I did craft and I organized some future projects for gifts and I got a bit done.
I worked on the lattice squares and I think I have 20 of which 16 will go for the arms of the chairs.  That leaves 4 of the 64 needed for the chairs themselves.  Thus I have 60 left to do.  I do have all the ends woven in though.  I can't stand leaving them until there are lots of them.  It is a great t.v. watching task.  I think I got last weeks and this weeks mixed up so I'll just show them all....
Here are all of them and I will now put them away and start on some new ones......they definitely need blocking too but I will wait until they are all done.
I worked a bit on Jane's Joy during the week.......
I'm ramping up for July birthdays (4) and an anniversary.  This is for my daughter and SIL's anniversary.........it's a small cross stitch pillow and I have the pattern and most of the floss but I need material and some special buttons so that will get ordered this week.
You'll never guess what I found!?!?  Those I  Spy quilts I was making for the grands 2 years ago?  It wasn't last year because that's when Jim passed so it had to be the year before that.  They're probably a bit old for them now but that's okay they can use them anyway.  It was supposed to be for their car trips down here so they would have a cover and also to play I Spy in the car.  I have one finished completely but it is all wrinkled because I had them hidden underneath a bunch of things for when they visited and then I couldn't remember where I had hidden them! LOL!
 the back.........
They'll all get washed and dried in the dryer when I'm finished with all of them.  The next one is a "floozy"...top sewn but no batting or backing yet.
and the third one is just the squares...........
As for the gifts....you've seen the Frida Kahlo basket in progress and then I am knitting ties for the grands.........the pattern is by Susan Anderson who made this for her son's wedding.  I checked sizing for boy's ties and for 8-13 years old they say 48 inches long whereas her sons was 61 inches long.  I ordered the yarn from Quince and Co. but I forgot a skein....duh.  I might order
from Knit Picks for the other one and do a comparison.
The other presents are aprons from a free pattern over on Purl Soho............I need to order fabric for them which I think will be ticking.
Last week I won a pattern from The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch called Liberty by Hands on Design.  A blog friend of mine has the pattern too and so we are going to do it together.  Again, I need to order fabric and floss and the pattern hasn't arrived yet.  Lots going on!  I reviewed YOP 2019-20 and it was really disappointing!  I start out so good and then I just go off the rails!  I swear this year will be different!  Did I say that last year?
This morning I went to Walmart for groceries and some other things I needed....like a new hose!  It's all sanitized and put away and now I am going to go make a peach cobbler and this time I have the vanilla ice cream to go with it! Yum!  Last night I made a "fall/autumn" dinner but it's one I love and I had 2 acorn squash  I needed to use up.  You cut the squash in half and take a little off the bottom so they sit flat.  You divide a pound of pork sausage into 4 sections and stuff it into the squash cavity....after removing all the seeds and stuff.  I poke holes in the sausage with my fingers and then pour maple syrup into the holes.  You place them in a 9 X  13 pan and put an inch of water in the bottom and bake at 350 F for 1-2 hours.  I find that 1 hour is never enough to cook the squash but keep checking on it.  Before baking cover it all in foil.  I made a Waldorf Salad to go with it and it is the perfect accompaniment...delish!
I hope you had a great week!
Happy Trails!!!
