I start out good on Monday but by Friday...not so much!

I did have some finishes this week though.  I finished 2 more books.  One I had started and it got buried lost when I was cleaning.  This is a great book and I will be going through it to make things. Do you buy books and then not use them....such as cookbooks or craft books?  I have vowed to go through them and use the recipes and or craft projects and then pass them on!  They do no good just sitting on the shelf.  I can remember when I order them I can't wait until they get here and then after that first exhilarating 'walk-through'...they go on a shelf and sit there!  For shame!  So, this will be the first book that I am going to "utilize" what it has to offer!  The first recipe I will be making is cinnamon rolls and then on to the next page whatever that has to offer.  I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as it contained a history of each of the authors and then how they met and formed The Farm Chicks plus their recipes and crafty projects and/or repurposing.
I finished this book which was not interesting until the last few chapters.  The majority of the book were interviews with patients and it must have been translated from another language as the English was poor.  But this was written back in 1969 and at that time no one dealt with death and they certainly didn't know how to deal with the dying back then.  This book did a lot to further understanding and empathy for the patients and their families.
I had planned on making turkey pot pies as I had grabbed some frozen turkey out of the freezer.  I made 4 single piecrusts but that was as far as I got.  I did laundry and took my walk and the day was gone.  So, I went uptown and got a pizza for supper.  Here are the piecrusts "chilling out" in the frig....4 single crusts.

I crocheted another heart for Valentine's Day and I figure if I make one every day until Valentine's Day I will have quite a few little ornaments for my Valentine Tree......
My new non-fiction is Marley and Me............I got this at a library sale a while back........I just started it and it is already good............have any of you read it?  I think it was a best seller at one time.......
That's all for today..........here are your "tidbits"..........

Handy to have and to know
You may not be a newbie...sometimes it's just nice to have some "easy" patterns for watching t.v.! LOL!  Here's the link

That's not vandalism....that's a teacher correcting her student! LOL!

It snowed!!!

Not a lot....just a dusting but although it melted on the ground, the trees are still covered.
I took my walk and forgot to take the camera.  the streams are still gurgling and flowing but not like yesterday.

There was another project that I spotted in my Ravelry projects.  My Multnomah shawl.  I had frogged it after doing the entire shawl but messing up the last part which was a "feather and fan" design.  I'd never heard of it and evidently didn't understand it and messed it all up.  I decided that if I wanted to do the shawl, I had better learn that "feather and fan" pattern.  So, I searched on Ravelry and there was a washcloth in "feather and fan".  Perfect for practicing!  I got some dishcloth yarn and the called for needles and gave it a whirl.  So far so good.  I'll have to go look at the Multnomah pattern and see what I didn't understand as this dishcloth pattern is pretty straightforward and I'm having no problem.
I finished the fiction book that I was reading......excellent!
the non-fiction I am reading is On Death and Dying by Elizabeth Kubler Ross...a classic but very boring.  It was appropriate at the time and because of that book, we have come a long way in how we treat the terminally ill.  It is like reading a thesis and maybe it was.   It does not apply to today's practices.  I will finish it tonight.
I had to go to the pharmacy today to pick up some prescriptions and while I was there I bought a new blood pressure cuff.  It was much less than the ones at Walmart!  Like 1/2 the price!  It was Our Neighbor Pharmacy brand.
I wrote a letter to a friend today who lost her daughter 10 years ago but her daughter's birthday is coming up.  I included the crocheted heart I made and I hope it gives her some comfort.  So, I didn't get my list done but there's tomorrow...maybe?
Here are some "tidbits" for today....................

  Here are the recipes

Not sure how funny this is as I was a computer scientist in real life so I think they should have replaced "grandma" with "grandpa" (Actually, being retired,  I am totally out of touch with technology just like everyone else! LOL!)

 that's all for today folks............

I'm only productive every other day....

Not sure why that is but I just could not get my rear in gear today.  I did not work on the bedroom but I did wash my hair and do 2 loads of laundry.  I took a walk in between the rains.  The creeks and streams are rushing and gushing!  I did some online shopping and paid another bill.  I ordered my Philosophy Amazing Grace that I wanted to order for my birthday.   Better late than never!  I love the scent as it is fresh and clean and not heavy.
I also ordered a battery storage container that has a battery tester with it.  I tried using some plastic containers but this is much better as there are individual cells for each battery type and the tester all in one convenient container.

I have been wanting to update and review my YOP goals and my Ravelry project page so I spent the afternoon doing that and of course, went down a rabbit hole.  I started back in YOP year 2012 -2013 and although I had quite a few finishes there were 2 projects that did not get done.  One was a crocheted rug which is around someplace and once I find it I will finish it.  The other was a blanket that at the time I did not have the money for the yarn and I also didn't realize you could substitute other yarns.  I still won't pay $18 a skein for a blanket that calls for 34 skeins!  It is a blanket I fell in love with and still really want to make.  I ordered the pattern, it was a pay for pattern.  I spent a lot of time converting the Spud and Chloe sweater yarn colors to Knit Picks Brava Worsted colors.
Here is the blanket.  It's on Ravelry and is called the Seeing Stars Blanket.  I don't know why it is so blurry but you get the drift.

I am making the lap size which is the smallest and it will still take 34 skeins of yarn; 2 each of 17 colors.  Here is the chart for all the colors..........you can see the areas for the lap, twin, full and queen sizes.  I may have to enlarge this page!
I also started my 2nd mitten!
Here are your "tidbits"  for today..............here's the link

Now, why didn't I think of that?  So clever!

That's all for today!

Got my mojo back!

I got some things done today and I'm still going.  I brought the garbage in, changed my sheets, cleaned up the kitchen, washed my quilt and blanket and washed another load of clothes.  I worked in my bedroom and only have one more side to go.  Again, I did baseboards and I vacuumed my chair upholstery although the cats have shredded it.  I need to dust the windows and I did the bookcase but not the inside.  I wish everything was glass-encased.....it doesn't get dirty!  I can only stay on my hands and knees for so long and bending over is a back killer after awhile.  Getting old is affecting my progress!  But I keep moving forward albeit slowly.

It's been raining since last night so no walk today as it has poured down several times and there are some storms in the area.  Nothing severe but I don't want to be out walking in it.  A good day to clean and knit............I finished my first mitten!!!  Thumb and all!  I was so happy as I was so afraid I would goof it up and ruin the entire mitten but the knitting angels were watching over me!  I still have one more to go.............

That's about all the news for today..........here are your "tidbits"......... I'm not sure if this is legit but I am going to try it!  I have been wanting some KFC!

This is definitely for me as all my drawers are old! Here's the link

This is how I would love my bedroom to look..............

This looked interesting and repurposing worthy...........the instructions are here
Here' s a little cutie for you!

Lazy Monday............

The only picture I have today is this photo of the sky this morning........." pink sky at morning sailor's warning"  It looked like the sky was on fire.  When I checked the weather it said we would get rain starting at about 6:30 p.m and the radar is looking like that is the case.  The majority of the day vacillated between cloudy and sunny and it was 67....very nice for my walk.
I watched the Superbowl last night and stayed up later than normal and got up later and did chores but I certainly didn't set the world on fire that's for sure!  The first thing I ran into this morning was my Keurig broke before I even got a cup of coffee.  That was not a good start for me.  I had instant coffee which is no substitute for the real deal trust me.  So, the Keurig wouldn't even turn on.  It's been here for quite a few years.   I looked online for a Nespresso machine as I thought I wanted one but the cost and I drink 1 cup a day usually.....is not really worth it.  I think I will just stick with my French Press as it makes a great cup of coffee and my counter is clear of the big Keurig machine.
There are no other photos today so I will get right to your "tidbits"................
I think I could use some of these...here's the link

I love this edging for blankets..........here's the link
Now, this would save some trees....bamboo grows fast and furious!  I might order some...........

yep....that's exactly what happened..............
Happy Trails!!!

YOP Week #31

Well, it was a good week with lots accomplished...just not craft-wise.........but I am staying on task if that counts.  I have worked on my first mitten (charity category) and it is done except for the thumb.......some of you
saw this yesterday and I did not get to it to finish today...........so far it has gone well.  I just hope I don't mess up the thumb.  Why do they always leave the hardest part until last?
I finished my cowl (gift category) but need to weave in the ends.........something happened and I'm not sure what but the first part is looser than the last part of it....the hook is the same as I keep it all together in a bag.   I must have changed the pattern somehow.  I have no idea but I will have to write it down next time.  It's a video and I thought I had the pattern memorized.  That's what I get for thinking by myself!  It might not be a gift after all.
Today I started some other "gifts"................only one done so far.............isn't it cute?  Valentine's Day is right around the corner!

I got my butterscotch cake made and of course, I had to taste it so I could report back to you.  It was delicious and definitely a keeper!  I'll post the recipe later this week.
It is 76 here today and I went for a nice walk and I also sat outside and read for a while.  It was too nice to stay inside!  It still is! LOL!  My favorite cozy mystery author...................
Here are your "tidbits" for today..............here's the link

I want to make this................here's the recipe
here' s a little something to make you smile!

I'm off to make my Cowboy Queso for the game....it's all prepped.  I just have to throw it together.
Go Chiefs!!!!
