Well, it was a good week with lots accomplished...just not craft-wise.........but I am staying on task if that counts. I have worked on my first mitten (charity category) and it is done except for the thumb.......some of you
saw this yesterday and I did not get to it to finish today...........so far it has gone well. I just hope I don't mess up the thumb. Why do they always leave the hardest part until last?
I finished my cowl (gift category) but need to weave in the ends.........something happened and I'm not sure what but the first part is looser than the last part of it....the hook is the same as I keep it all together in a bag. I must have changed the pattern somehow. I have no idea but I will have to write it down next time. It's a video and I thought I had the pattern memorized. That's what I get for thinking by myself! It might not be a gift after all.
Today I started some other "gifts"................only one done so far.............isn't it cute? Valentine's Day is right around the corner!
I got my butterscotch cake made and of course, I had to taste it so I could report back to you. It was delicious and definitely a keeper! I'll post the recipe later this week.
It is 76 here today and I went for a nice walk and I also sat outside and read for a while. It was too nice to stay inside! It still is! LOL! My favorite cozy mystery author...................

DeleteAs I type this your chiefs have 3 points to tie it up. I will route for you through the last quarter. I already ranted on someone else's post about my disappointment in the half time show. I would think those two women could be a little classier that shaking their booties - especially with the young women on stage who could do with more important things to aspire to. I think I am just cranky today....but I do hope your chiefs pull it off.

I liked the music but I noticed it was mostly in Spanish which is fine....the times they are a changing but English is still the official language in the U.S. I 'm sure I wouldn't have understood it even if it was in English! LOL! Sex sells and that will probably never change. They still have cheerleaders for the NFL...really? That to me seems really juvenile but then most men are juvenile. T.V. has never played to the female audience because most women are too busy working to sit down and watch t.v. Males are the big t.v. watchers as they don't have as much to do usually. End of my rant! LOL!

That's who our family was hoping would win too. We didn't watch but instead went out to dinner at Applebee's with a gift card I received for my birthday. It was virtually empty which is highly unusual for a Sunday evening.

I will be 57 today but cloudy an drain and maybe snow this week starting tonight. I think the reason Appleby's was empty is that a survey said most people stay home to watch the Superbowl and very few go out to bars or restaurants to watch. Home parties are the most popular. It was a good game to watch especially since the Chiefs won! LOL! I couldn't believe I stayed up and watched the whole game as I'm usually in bed by 8:00 p.m! LOL!

DeleteSam, concerning your crochet size difference, I'm wondering if it is a tension problem. Now I'm definitely not an expert on the subject, but going by experience. I've found if I'm relaxed when crocheting, my work is looser, but if I'm a bit tensed the work is tighter and results in a smaller stitch. Even just a small difference can add up over the end. I've just picked up a baby blanket project which has been "resting" for a year and I'm trying to keep the stitches the same. I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all. :)

ReplyDeleteI’ve only done bulky yarn mitten thumbs so hope yours goes well. The cowl shape to me seems good, because I find they ride up and I’d like it a bit lower but when they are the same width you end up with either a very loose neck part, or too tight to come down to cover the area near shoulder bone. Bought ones I usually manually stretch on one side, so you have that stretch built in and someone will like it I’m sure. I saw the Chiefs won because Trump getting the State wrong was in the news here.

My mother can do these crafts as well as you, but what she does is shoes, which are made of wool. About a month, she made 10 pairs of shoes, and then gave them to my aunts and uncles as gifts.
