YOP Week #25

The giraffes are done!!!!  Ta Da!!!!  There was a moment when I wasn't sure I would make it when I got sick but all's well that ends well.  The pictures aren't the greatest because it is a rainy day (so happy about that too!) and it is really dark out so I had to use artificial lighting.  This picture is blurry but it's the only one where you can tell they are different colors................
Grayson's is orange and yellow........
and Uriah's is gold and rust colored...............
I'm so glad I ordered the pom pom maker from Clover...it was a godsend!
They'll be getting wrapped and packaged up today to go in the mail tomorrow..........
There's still the annual ornaments and baked goodies but I will send those later.
For sanity I have been working on my soothing Cozy Memory Blanket.  This project is so relaxing that I can't work on it too long or I start dozing off......but I do love this project.............plus it is all stash!  I did 9 squares since I last posted and working on number 10.  I measured it and decided after consulting with you all that I would not tuck it in but I would have it go down the side of the bed a bit.
So, I figure I have about 4 or 5 more rows to get it wide enough and then I will start doing the length part.
I need to wind up my yarn for the Christmas Eve sock cast on.......I got this last year for this year's socks...........I love the colors and also the name...."You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" from The Christmas Story movie?.........she also included a cute Christmas pencil............
I need to get my Christmas socks that I made last year for the Christmas Eve cast on to wear for this Christmas.  Today is wrapping and packaging, hopefully some cards written and mailed too tomorrow.  There's the grocery list for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and of course, there's still cleaning and decorating and baking plus...I still want to make my soap!  Will I be able to squeeze it all in?  Probably not but the fun is in the journey....no rush........I'm already planning my handwork for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day if there is no company.
The Bakery Bears podcast and Ravelry group have 2 KALS starting January 1st so check those out and please let me know of any others as I am free to join them now!  I've already started a list of projects for the second half of YOP.  It seems I have been tied to the gift making for so long that I can't wait to work on some of my projects and ,of course, cast on a bunch of new ones! LOL!  Don't forget Little Bobbin's Christmas Eve Sock cast on....she is having it again I hope?  Also, is Yarngasm having her Box of Socks for 2018?  I  have yet to get 12 pair made but maybe this will be the year?
So much to enjoy and look forward too if I can only afford the yarn for all of it! LOL!  Also, definitely enjoying all the Vlogmas's...they really put you in the Christmas spirit.
Our next posting for YOP will be Christmas Eve...I'll be there and I hope you will too.  I'm getting excited for Christmas and just so Santa knows.....I was a VERY good girl this year so bring it on!!!
Happy Trails!!!

    1. I have to put that on my list.....The Hudson Bay Blanket.....I have the matching socks! LOL! I know what you mean about yarn that's why I'm glad I have the old acrylic to keep me busy and utilize it. I know, January is seed catalog time but this year I am not doing anything but concentrating on getting this house ready to sell. I will live vicariously through your gardening!

  3. Such happy giraffes! And look at all those lovely pompous! Fun!

Somebody sounds a little excited for Christmas :) Love the Christmas skein. I was thinking about getting a Christmas colourway for myself, but then I reviewed the stash situation and decided there was no need for yarn shopping!

That blanket is going to be jam-packed with memories! Do you remember where each and every yarn leftover came from?

    1. They came from a wild hair I got to make an afghan of little circles....and I wanted them all different.....I was crazier back then than I am now if you can believe that! LOL! That's where most of those wild colors came from....I am much more sedate and classy now....LOL! I still have bags and bags of the circles...I just need to weave in a trillion ends and join them all together.....it might not happen in this lifetime.

  4. Those giraffes are uber cute! I think I might join the box of socks next year. A friend did it for 2017 and she almost has TWO boxes of socks.
I know santa will be good to you because for certain you are on the Nice List!

  5. Hip hip hooray for completed giraffes. They are so cute. The box of socks sounds like fun. I am so slow at making them though, I don't think I could keep up. I do like you Christmas sock yarn. Will enjoy watching them grow.

What a lovely blanket. All those memories to sleep under each night.

I am so glad you are feeling better. Have a marvelous week.

  8. Those animals turned out so cute! You have reminded me that I have a granny square baby blanket that is still not finished. I started it about 6-7 years ago, ha ha!

  9. Your giraffes turned out just perfect. I know they will be very well loved. It sounds like you still have lots of plans for the rest of the week. Take it easy and don’t do too much! Did you use sock yarn for your cozy memories blanket? I have one started and it seems like it’s going so slow. I haven’t touched it in probably six months. That’s probably why it’s going so slow! I have heard on other podcasts people talking about the box of socks for next year but nothing definite. I probably just missed it. There’s a new sock pattern a lot of people are doing called the broken seed stitch pattern. Uses a varigated yarn and a solid color yarn and you just need 50 g of each. I really like the texture of it and may try it on my next pair of socks. Have a great week my friend.
    Blessings always, Betsy

  12. I was so sure I'd left a comment here earlier. I must have backed out or closed the screen before clicking "publish". :( I love your giraffes, Sandra. They are adorable. And those pompoms! Too cute. I can see that a pompom maker would come in very handy for those little things. And so many of them. Thank you for reminding me about Vlogmas. I know it's almost over, but some of them are really fun to watch. I can get a few in this week anyway. I hope you have a blessed and happy Christmas, friend.

  13. Those giraffes are adorable!

The memory blanket seems like a lovely project - I really like projects like this that get you to use up yarn and basically knit up memories. :)
