Lazy day...

I slept in this morning not getting up until 5:30 so I did not take a walk.  I stuck my head outside and it was already hot and humid!  They predicted storms but they haven't happened yet.  It's 90 right now and too hot for me to work outside...whew!  So, I worked on some secret crafts and I'm working on another lattice square.

I made my own oat flour out of organic steel cut oats.............you just measure how much you need and put them in a blender or food processor and VOILA......oat flour!
I needed it to make crackers.  Just plain this time to see how I like them but you can season them too.  This is before they are baked as I am waiting for the oven to heat up.  I have lots more dough but not sure if I'll make all of them today.
Other than that I'm getting ready to iron and read for a bit.  I'm finding if I wait until bedtime to read I get tired too fast to get any reading done! LOL!
Happy Trails!!!

  1. Wait a minute! You call sleeping until 5:30 "sleeping in?" It has been such a miserably hot and humid here today, the first of many more to come, I am sure. I love your white lattice square.

  2. I woke up at 7 and it was already 91 here. I too have stayed inside today. Lazy days are good for you. But.....after reading all you did, it doesn't look like you were 100% lazy. Is there a recipe for your crackers?

  3. I made oat flour yesterday! Great minds. And you reminded me to make crackers soon. I like them with a variety of seeds in them, but plain would work, too.

5.30 isn't sleeping late to me -- it's the rest of the night before! Hit here now, near 90 tomorrow again. Very humid after big rainstorms. So like you, I'll be occupied indoors.

    1. I didn't either! I thought I would have to buy some oat flour...duh! I have resorted to my childhood schedule....lights out by 8:00 or 8:30! LOL!

  6. I make my own flour and also oat and cashew milk. So easy. No reason to buy it in cartons. I tried to make my own tortilla chips awhile back but they came out more like crackers. Already 110 F and above here each day. I walked twice this past week but just can't seem to muster the desire to get out there now. Take care.

    1. I haven't tried the milk yet but probably will except the cashews might be a bit pricey here. I can't tolerate the heat like I used to....cold either....another feature of aging! LOL!

  7. Mandy said it was really hot and humid in Omaha today too. Meanwhile, I'm wrapped up in blankets and have the furnace on in the trailer! Isn't it crazy?
You get up so early! I usually can't fall asleep until 1:00 a.m. or so. I get up with Dennis for about an hour when he goes to work and then lay back down until around 8:00. After so many years of being at work by 6:00 I feel like I'm being really lazy but I guess I'm really not sleeping that long, only 7 hours or so.
Take care my friend and stay cool.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. I guess it depends on your schedule and I've always been an early riser. It takes me awhile to get going so maybe that's why.

  9. It's hot here too! I'm not entirely surprised at how early you must get up. Just another thing to be amazed at. lol And explains how you get so much done!!! I interested in hearing how your crackers turned out!

  10. Hi Sam :) Great idea for the oat flour. I do that too when I need it. I hope your crackers turned out well! Enjoy your day inside. I have the heat on today lol...we had a nice heat wave going the last week and suddenly it feels like November!

  11. Ah! I have so many steel cut oats (I ordered a huge bag and it turns out they just aren't my favorite. I prefer regular oats). I might just have to turn those steel cut oats into oat flour. I'm glad you are staying busy especially with all this heat we seem to be having. It finally cooled down here some. We're back in the 70's for a while which seems to be about normal for my part of the country for this time of the year.
