Pay no attention to the spider web on the outside of my window.....or the screen that I took the picture through...lol! I was in my pj's already so there was no going outside...........
Here is a picture of the cookies I made last night. They are Jan Hagen cookies and I have had the recipe for 40 or 50 years. I have no idea who Jan Hagen is but her cookies are mighty good!
Jan Hagen Cookies
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 egg white
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg yolk. Sift flour and cinnamon together then gradually add to the mixture. Spread dough on a cookie sheet (or a pizza pan like I did). Brush on a film of egg white. Sprinkle on nuts. Bake at 300 F for 30 minutes. Cut into squares while hot and let cool.
Today I walked early and then it rained again for a bit. I worked inside as it was so wet out even after the rain stopped. I vacuumed my kitchen and family room and washed the kitchen floor. I cleaned my tub and Grace's litter box. I finished another lattice square.........

DeleteWhat a pretty rainbow. How many squares do you have completed now? Those cookies sound very easy to make. Might need to give them a try soon. Loosing the needle is sad but using the needle minder is even sadder. Hope you find both soon.
ReplyDeleteI have 17 squares so far. I am going to make arm chair covers for the arms and the back and seat of my 2 chairs in the family room. It will take 4 for each arm so I have enough now for the 4 arms but need lots more for the back and seats of the chairs. I'm sure the needle minder is in on of my Stitch Mania bags. I just need to take the time to look for it.
DeleteThat is such a pretty rainblow. I wouldn't have noticed the web or the screen until you pointed them out. I was fixated on the rainblow. Those cookies sound yummy. I have everything except nuts here in the trailer. I would love to make some but maybe next week after I make a trip home to get nuts!

You could make them without the nuts but they wouldn't be as good. I have been cleaning and organizing and whenever I do that I lose things!
DeleteThose cookies look and sound delicious and they look pretty easy to make. I keep losing crochet hooks! Eventually they turn up but it's so annoying when they are MIA!
ReplyDeleteMy check list for keeping recipes are they must be easy, delicious, inexpensive (as in not a lot of exotic ingredients) and quick. That is the reason I am de-cluttering and organizing but the process is painful as I can't find anything when I do that!
