Not much crafting this week but everyone got their presents on time! I've got my groceries and now just some cards and baking....the really fun part! Well, actually it's all fun now since I'm retired. I can remember when it was a very stressful time and not a lot of fun for "Mom" since it seemed everything was my job.
Yesterday I worked on Stars and Stripes Saturday for a bit. I got my floss in the mail so I can now continue with it...........
I also started the blanket for my pharmacist who's baby is due the end of January. It the Tiramisu blanket by Alicia Paulson. It is crocheted and I am using Lionbrand Wool-ease. I made it wider than it called for as it looked so tiny! I like the pattern it's producing but it's not a 'fun' crochet as you have to pay attention even though it is simple....I do anyway! LOL! There will also be a border on it when I am done. I have 10 of 30 rows done.....again that is not big enough! That would be 2 more sections the size of what I have there.....huh? Good thing I have a lot of yarn for it!
I have my Christmas Eve sock all ready to knit on Christmas Eve........I have the Christmas yarn, a snowflake progress keeper from Betsy, a project bag (although I had wanted to get a Christmas bag made for knitting and one for cross stitch...maybe after Christmas), chiagoo needles, pattern and a counter in the bag.....all set!
Here is my Chicken Joy cross stitch all kitted up and ready to start on Christmas Day............note the fancy project bag! LOL!
Here are your Christmas Tidbits for today...........this joke actually had to do with an article on traversing the holidays with family and others you may have a hard time with...........
Here is the link...a lot of good information. It's how to deal with drama and difficult people over the holidays. I don't have that problem since I spend my holidays alone and actually, it's pretty nice but I would love to see the grands open their presents. Maybe we can Skype this year.
Here is a real feel-good cute video so please check it out....I didn't know how to put it in this post...I should learn how to do that! Here's the link
If you love animals you will love this Christmas video!
This is just one of many kid-friendly games for the holidays.....the one below looks like fun. I think people bring white elephant gifts for this...I did it once years ago and it was hysterical! Here's the link
Here's a Pioneer Woman recipe...I have several of her cookbooks and all her recipes are phenomenal!
They are not low calorie nor are they necessarily healthy but they are delicious for sure! Enjoy! Here's the recipe

I did do one other 'craft' this week...........I made some little memorial ornaments for the Christmas tree.................
That's all for this week folks.....I'll have a double Advent gift post tomorrow as Amy was at the hospital last night. Tracy is doing well but he is getting released Christmas Eve so there is still a lot to do. They have no handlebars or railing in yet, no ramp.....he does have a wheelchair but it can only go in 2 rooms and he has a scooter thing that can traverse the rest of the house but it is still tricky. I'm sure it will be nice to be home at Christmas though!
I hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or whatever you might celebrate!
Happy Trails!!!
Christmas eve socks - what a great idea. You have been busy, and good to hear Tracy will be home from Christmas. Yes, skype is a blessing for seeing those grandkids from so far away. Blessings to you this Christmas and I was moved by the memorial ornaments you made.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that Christmas is nearly here and it's going to be passed come Thursday. This has not been a normal Christmas season for us at all. That's okay, though. I think I'm ready to move into the new year. Love the cartoon, and I LOVE that video. So sweet! Glad that your kids will be able to be in their own home on Christmas. What an ordeal I imagine they've been through. Merry Christmas to you, Sam! And Merry Skyping! :)
ReplyDeleteThose memorial ornaments are so moving. What pattern will you be using for the sock? Baby blankets are not very big and I also male them larger so they can be used for many years. Have a blessed Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI agree about that baby blanket. Something seems, "not right" about the size. Way too small.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that your SIL gets to go home in time for Christmas, but I'm sure it is bringing it's own stress into their lives, learning about the new normal in their home. Having him home should take a lot of the pressure off of Amy as far as visiting goes etc.
I have a pair of socks ready to go for Christmas Eve but yesterday I began the first of four toddler size sweaters for Dennis' sisters granddaughters. She wants two for each one, a long sleeve and a short sleeve. I'm frantically knitting on the first of them and seeming to get no where!
The memorial ornaments for Jim, Nitty and Annie are beautiful and very moving. You are an amazingly strong woman.
Wishing you a wonderful week full of peace and love.
Blessings,
Betsy
Ice Hole lol lol lol...I'm going to use that! Actually that reminded me of something. I think it was the Simpsons...they were recreating the discover of America when someone said "Land HO" and the woman said "what did you call me?" LOL works on so many levels. I know, I'm immature hee hee!
ReplyDeleteSam I hope you have a lovely Christmas! xxx
Your memorial ornaments are precious.
ReplyDeleteI can already see that I am going to love the baby blanket. Well, I guess baking can be considered fun, but it just wears me out. I still have a pie baking tonight. I love the idea of memorial ornaments. Yours are precious. And, I will watch out for "Ice Holes." :~)
ReplyDeleteThanks for that link for dealing with difficult people. I find Christmas very stressful, my mum stopped speaking to me 4 years ago at Christmas, and I think we both could have done with reading that article prior to that Christmas and maybe we’d have got through it. We have my mother in law this year, which brings different stresses, so I will re-read it on Christmas Eve before she arrives. Enjoy your baking and eating the tasty treats. I hope you get to Skype with the grands. Xx
ReplyDeletei looked up the pattern for the Tiramisu blanket by Alice It is 30 inches not 30 rows so that might make some difference and check your needle size but gee it is a pretty blanket, I truly enjoy reading your posts
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I don't have to deal with any Christmas related stress (other than what working retail in December puts on me) as we don't celebrate. Hubs is on vacation until 6th Jan, I have to work a few days, and we'll just enjoy some quiet time together, with a Star Wars marathon, some airbrushing (him) and some knitting / crocheting (me).
ReplyDeleteI really admire your cross stitching skill, I'd be so lost. What will you do with it once it's finished? Is it going to be a wall hanging, or are you going to include it in another project, like a sewn bag?
Your memorial ornaments are so precious. I know you miss them all very much.
ReplyDeleteI shall pray for your daughter and her husband, lots of changes for them, but it will be good to have them all in the same house.
That cartoon was so funny...loved it!
Your memorial ornaments are perfect. I hope your sock got going ok and that you had a lovely Christmas (hopefully with your Skype)
