NaBloPoMo Day #18

Time to start prepping for Thanksgiving if you celebrate here in the U.S.  Why is it I am always surprised at how it sneaks up on me?  It's always a year from the last one and it happens every year....so why can't I be ready?
I should have started this at the beginning of November but again.....it snuck up on me!
Each day until Thanksgiving I will be blogging with some Thanksgiving tips, recipes, jokes etc.  Here's a cute budget friendly craft........... using supplies from nature............
and more ideas to stretch that budget!   These all  came from my Pinterest Thanksgiving board so you can go there if you want more.........
As for what I did around the homestead today............I washed screens...........
I also washed my bedroom curtains and windows in and out and put up clean curtains........
The screens I store in the closet of each room if appropriate and then if we have a 'warmup' some days they are handy to grab and put in.  I have Pella windows and though I dislike the handle that is always in the way, I do like the fact that I can wash both sides of the window from inside.
I took another walk today and there are little spots of color here and there........

But for the most part the pretty part of Fall is over with......and the woods are pretty bland now....

I did find some berries that I picked and brought home....I have no idea what they are do any of you know?  I'll keep them away from the cats just in case.  I hope they stay nice and red like that!
I used to have bittersweet on the farm and I loved decorating with that every fall.  I have not seen any here and when I looked online they wanted $17 for a small bunch of it.............moss is plentiful down here and all different kinds.  I  keep meaning to make a terrarium and use some of it...I love moss............
That's all for today....I have worked a bit on my Monthly Monday cross stitch which I'll show you tomorrow.
Happy Trails!!!

  1. Oooh... that leaf banner is cute! A week ago I had the perfect fallen magnolia leaves for that. This week, they're all brittle - and wet after snow and now a misty day. It will make me look at them with fresh eyes next autumn. :)

    1. You are so right! Magnolia leaves...they're huge! My neighbor has a tree....I should go check...although I usually have few in my yard that blow over. I have enough to do though....no shiny objects for me right now! LOL!

  3. Our fall color is gone, gone gone. I have so much to do to get ready for the kids to all come next week and I'm still out for the count with this cold. No sleep at night because of coughing so hard. I'm exhausted. I haven't had a cold in over 2 years and the week before the kids come this happens. It's so frustrating.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
