YOP Week #17

This was a busy but cozy week!  It rained towards the end of the week so I had my first fire in the fireplace.............it was perfect....just enough  to take the dampness out of the house.

Meanwhile I "baked and maked"............I tried using my Instant Pot for the first time and was making bone broth but it wasn't working right for me so I ended up making it on the stove.  I'm not sure if it's the IP or the novice operator.  I was using a recipe off the internet but I think I will use a recipe out of the book they give you for my first time.  I hope there is nothing wrong with the IP............
Now that I bought this one they have come out with a beautiful one by Pioneer Woman...if I'd only known!
Here's my burner method bone broth......
I got 6 cups of broth from one chicken carcass.........I lay the bags flat in the freezer and they don't take up much room that way.

Miss Peeps was supervising...........
I also made pulled pork in the crock pot, coleslaw and cinnamon crisp cookies.  While things were cooking I was sewing!  Finally!  I made 3 Halloween pillowcases for the grands..........
I also made 2 more mini-pumpkins but they need the ribbon put on them still.........
I have not made the gloves yet either but today for sure as they are being mailed tomorrow!
I did finish all 8 of Nature's Walk CAL step #2 and I have started on Blaithin CAL step #2
I still have a few ends to weave in.............but not too many............

I did very little cross stitch this week except some work on Stars and Stripes Saturday.........

That's all for this week folks!  I hope you are enjoying your Sunday!
Happy Trails!!!

  1. What a lot of fun and delicious projects you've been up to, Sam. I did not find my IP intuitive, but after a few things I at least stopped being afraid of it. Hopefully your issues were just user error and nothing's wrong with the gadget itself. Your bone broth looks so... yuumy and healthy! The few times I'm made (or tried to make) broth I've never felt it looked like anything I'd want to use. I'm sure I've done something wrong. Your grands are going to love the Halloween pillowcases. You are a terrific grandma! :)

  4. Those pillow cases came out great. And the pumpkins make me smile.

I hope your IP does what you wish it to do. I gave mine to my daughter and she loves it. Me.....not so much lol.

We are finally going into the 70s for 5 days starting tomorrow. Then back to the 90s. Will this never end? I want to sit by a fire too.

  6. I like using my IP but I haven't tried making broth with it yet. I need to look up a recipe for it. My favorite thing to make is hard boiled egg! The shells almost fall off. So much easier than the old method.
All of your cooking and baking sound delicious. You sure keep yourself busy. The pillowcases and apples turned out great. I've been making mittens, trying to get a head start on next years donation to the school.
I hope you have a great week ahead Sam.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. Oh the pillow cases are great!!! :) How festive!! I've been toying with the idea of an instant pot too, I've heard great things it can do! Miss little Peeps is so cute stretched out like that! How nice that you have a cozy Hygge fire going! :)

    1. I hope I get to learn to use the IP otherwise it was a waste of money. I want to make yogurt using almond milk. I'll let you know how it goes!

  10. I love the idea of seasonal pillowcases and I’m sure they’ll love these Halloween ones. Are these to use for collecting candy in? Or to sleep on? Plenty of room for candy 😁
