YOP Week #35

I almost didn't post today because I have so little to show but then again....I so enjoy other's posts that I figured I would anyway.   I'm not discussing my 'cursed' socks.....maybe next week I can relate the sad tale but this week it is too fresh! LOL!
So, I got out a project that is on my list but was languishing...my Multnomah shawl.......it is in the Dachshund colorway by Madelinetosh.  I love this yarn and how it is working up.  I may become a yarn snob yet! LOL!  If you notice, I have some floss there in the picture because I had just finished putting in a lifeline.  I'm not taking any chances with this baby!  It's fingering weight yarn but this pattern only takes one skein which is budget friendly in my book!
I did cut out material for a project bag out of my old pajamas......remember this fabric?
I'm using a free pattern and tutorial by Hue Loco.......
I also splurged and bought material for a quilt for my bed which I got for 1/2 price on Craftsy so that was a real win!  It hasn't arrived yet but this is what it looks like........all reproduction prints from the 1930's...........LOVE!!!!!  I've made quilts for everyone but me almost so when I heard that Jaclyn of the Brooklyn Knitfolk podcast was hosting a QAL (quilt along plus tutorial) I jumped right in!  It hasn't started yet as we are just gathering our supplies so there is still time to join in.  She has a group on Ravelry and you just need to join and then print off the supply list and she has exact fabric amounts for all size beds.  Mine is a double/full.  I have had the sewing bug lately so this will be a great project for Spring.  BTW, Craftsy has some great deals on fabric!
The other item I've been working on is my bullet journal.  I thought my planner was going to work but there is no room for all my zillions of tasks, projects and to-do lists.  So, I have been looking at starting a bullet journal where you basically create what you need as you go and you have an index.  There is no limit with a bullet journal!  I printed off a 'craft' page today........and a few others........
I'll just cut them out and paste them in mine.  Do any of you do bullet journaling?  Pinterest has all kinds of ideas and pages....it's really amazing what you can keep track of and you can do as much or as little 'decorating' as you want......I'm really into it right now and it is like the answer to a prayer!
That's all for this week folks.  Are you watching the Oscars tonight?  I'm not sure I can get it without satellite but I'll try.....after all, I got to watch the Superbowl! LOL!
Have a wonderful week ahead and Happy Trails!

  1. Woohoo, hope your fabric acquisition arrives soon, I'm impatiently waiting to see the project that comes out of that lot of scrumptious fabrics.
Dare I pop over to Pinterest to see what 'bullet journal' is all about? Oh you are such an enabler, yes of course I will. I'll be back out in about 5 hours, lol.

    1. Sorry about the 'enabling'....not! LOL! Isn't that why we read each others blogs? Ha! Ha! You're right about the 5 hours though....I need a timer on my pc so it shuts off after I have been down a rabbit hole for way too long!

  2. Good luck on your projects! The yarn is really nice. I do bullet journaling myself! Actually I started with my Garden Journal and I'm going to continue with that because it keeps me well organized. I also have a bullet journal for my shopping and meal planning. I do only monthly to 6-week shopping now and it's really vital for me to be organized and have things planned and WRITTEN down not typed. I used to do everything on computer, but I find it much more fulfilling and kind of old fashioned to write it down. Gosh did I ever think I'd see the day when I referred to WRITING as "old fashioned"??? I wasn't brought up on computers, that started at University for me. I also use a bullet journal for my day to day tasks so I don't forget to do things. Mine aren't too fancy but having them works for me...and it's much better than having a zillion post it notes all over the place!

    1. Actually, I was a systems programmer for years before I retired so I love and appreciate computers but here in AR we lose power a lot it seems so I prefer to have things in writing and I have always been a planner and list maker. I need to be more of a 'doer'. I always had planners when I worked but didn't think I needed one being retired. Boy, was I wrong! LOL! I found out the other day that they are no longer teaching cursive writing in the schools. I can't believe it....I guess I really am getting old! LOL!

    2. Nah, you're not getting old! It's the computer age right? :) I can't believe that about the cursive.

  3. I've never heard of bullet journaling. I used to have a journal I kept inspirational photos from magazines (to use for writing prompts when I wrote). I used to keep newspaper articles about local things, so the kids could read them when they get older and look back, but haven't done that in years.

  4. Oh darling.....bullet journaling is the only way I get stuff done. I have "to do" lists in my 365 happy planner and accomplished lists there too. I have books to read lists there too thanks to you and Stephanie. I hope you dog is doing good after her dental. It took mine about 2.5 days to get back to normal. Love your shawl......that is the first one I ever made but used worsted weight and it was huge lol. Looking forward to seeing your sewing projects. It is that time of year when I dust my machines off too and start on some sewing/mending. Where knitting and crocheting relax me......sewing centers me and brings me back to my roots. My mom made almost all of my clothing even when i was in high school. She made all my prom dresses. Sonsewing brings back loving memories for me.

  5. I actually have been giving bullet journaling a try for the last few years. I love the concept and the simplicity of it, but it still takes some discipline (which I am sorely lacking). While February was largely a bust for me, I am this year embracing the "journaling" aspect. It's easier for me to go in after the fact and record what I did than it is for me to prep future calendar pages - so really the concept of a bullet "journal" is perfect for me. We'll see how it goes as the year progresses (and with a new month). I found a skinny notebook that fits neatly in my purse and I'm finding it's just the right size. I'd show a picture, but I'm not sure how much of my personal life (that I'm pretty lax about recording) I really want to share publicly. I'll give it some thought, though - knowing I love to see others'. Now that I've spent a whole paragraph talking about bullet journaling - that I don't do very well, evidently, let me also say that I love that vintage-y fabric you're going to make a quilt out of. I so look forward to seeing that come together. Sigh. You are so talented, friend.

  6. Love the shawl. I've made a few from the Multnomah pattern and have really liked the way they turned out. I've been watching Jaclyn talk about the QAL and if I was more able to sit at the sewing machine I might be tempted. I'll enjoy everyone else's quilts instead this time. I've not been into journaling much. I've tried at various times in my life to keep a diary or journal or both and have always failed. I use lists for everything though.
    Have fun my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I can't wait to see more of your quilt; I like the array of fabrics. I have Dachshund too! I may use mine for the Box of Sox KAL.

  8. You haven't got much to show? I dispute that comment! You have again been up to many things. I think I would enjoy bullet journaling, now to find some time to get into it!

  10. I should check out this bullet journaling idea I always have great plans but mostly have scraps of paper with odd things written on them. Nice score on the quilt acquisition!
