YOP Week #32

Although this was a busy week, I did manage to get some crafting in....even a finish!  Ta Da!  My Cherry Heart socks............I really enjoyed making these...I think  it is the same heel but for some reason this is the first time they turned out perfectly.....no gap and I think it's because she has you take an extra stitch.....whatever it is.....I'm doing it from now on!  The pattern is a delight to work and it is my first rounded toe and can I tell you how much I like it?  I do!  I'm excited to try different heels, toes, and cuffs and patterns now......what fun...I think socks are my favorite thing to knit so far.....I am a very practical knitter...it needs to be useful.  BTW, if you ever order sock blockers from the Loopy Ewe....know that you will only receive 1.....for $15.00!  I need to order another now.
My "ME" project this week is the Hermione's Everyday Socks, again.  But it was nice to finish the ones above because it cleared off my favorite needles and now I can knit Hermione's concurrently or is it simultaneously?  I am halfway done with the cuff on the first one so by next week I should have both cuffs done and some more.  I'm hoping to be able to enter the Harry Potter KAL for February as I did not make it for the January KAL.  I think I will be able to pace myself better and know where I am with doing 2 at a time.  Also, the above socks do not count in the 2017 Box of Socks because I started them in 2016.
I got started on the "GIFT" for my daughter but not very far.............that red is very hard to photograph...I took several pictures and the red just blows out for some reason.......

As for the old "WIP".......I got one more giraffe leg done....hopefully this week won't be as hectic and mind blowing! LOL!
I also got some heavy duty cleaning in and worked on finances this week which were things I wanted to focus on.  In addition to some homemade bread, cookies and pizza......a girl has to eat in between stitching and cleaning! LOL!
I hope you all had a great week and that you have another one ahead of you!
Happy Trails!
P.S.  I haven't been able to watch football all season because I canceled my satellite service but I have a Roku and they sent me an email that Fox is letting us watch the Superbowl for free!  No strings attached!  So, we'll see how late I can stay up! LOL!

  1. Nice socks.....kind of a bummer about the sock blocker though. I love the Hermione sock pattern. It seemed to work up so quickly. The daughter's gift is coming along well. The giraffe will be done before you know it.

  2. Gosh. I would've thought you would automatically get two sock blockers when you order them. Thanks for the warning! I always add two extra stitches when I do the heel flap. For example, with most patterns if you use 64 stitches to begin, they tell you to pick up up 16 along the edge. I always pick up 18 and make sure one of them is in the ditch. That seems to eliminate any gaps or holes. I like your sock finish and I'm looking forward to seeing your Hermione socks take shape. Have a lovely day my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  3. Whoa! One sock blocker for 15.00?!? Seems like a crazy price to me, but also kind of dumb to sell them singularly. I mean... who only makes one sock to block? Okay... I'm sure there are some one-footed knitters (or someone knitting for someone who is one-footed) who only need to knit one sock, but still... Maybe they figure one can be blocking while the second one is being knitted up. And then maybe, just maybe, I don't know what I'm talking about since I've knit a sock before. Let alone contemplated blocking one. Why does one need to block socks, anyway? This impertinent, but curious mind wants to know. I hope you enjoy watching the football game tonight, friend!

    1. I guess some people just use them for showing a sock but I actually hand wash mine and so then I would like to hang them on sock blockers to dry so I will be collecting more sock blockers as time goes on but I would like to think there must be some cheaper wire ones out there. I remember my Mother used pant stretchers for my father's work pants years ago and I'm sure they didn't cost nearly that much and that was for 2 and they were lots bigger...and you got one for each leg! LOL!

  4. Pretty socks!! I bet you could make your own sock form...anything real stiff would work... I am racking my brain to think of something that would work...heavy cardboard wrapped in saran wrap...:) Enjoy the game, I am watching Alone today...great series:)

    1. You are right! I was thinking I could trace the other one (as it is a large for my big feet!) and cut some out of plywood but actually plastic would be the best as they will be wet. I just don't have time right now so I will order one more matching blocker and wash one pair at a time! LOL!

  5. One sock blocker sounds crazy! Your socks look great though. I am really enjoying the Hermione's everyday sock pattern, the four row repeat is almost as addictive as stripes.

    1. Yes, the days of just eating the leftovers off of my children's plates are long gone!

  8. One sock blocker??? Are you sure they didn't make a mistake? Sounds crazy. As crazy as that football game yesterday was. I couldn't believe it. I loved the Lady Gaga show too. Loved it!

  9. That was the only game I got to watch all season as I canceled my satellite but I think it was the best one all season! What a game! Yes, I had never seen her perform but I like her attitude! She was great! I got a lot of crocheting done on my daughter's gift during the game too. I can't knit though and watch a game or anything unless it's straight garter stitch....not sure I will ever be that good.

  10. What an interesting heel on Cherry Heart's pattern. How funny you only got one sock blocker. Is there anything in its description that they're sold singularly?

  11. Great socks. Love the giraffe legs so far, it's a very interesting project to follow and wondering what comes next. The superbowl was even shown over here in NZ but I'm afraid I was working in the garden all day and missed it.
