Books I've finished! Yay!

I've done really well with my FINISHES in the book department this week............
I'm finally done with this one....oh my what a lengthy soap opera of a book!  Not bad for having been written in the 1700's although I won't be reading another one anytime soon.  But for it's time I'm sure it was fascinating and it would make a great soap opera.....like Dark Shadows...remember that one?
I also finished the Wapsipinicon Almanac which was actually on Good Reads and qualified as a book!  Parts of it I liked and other parts I didn't.....it's a collection so that is to be expected.
This one was a re-read and didn't count in my challenge for this year.  I re-read it each year at Christmas time.
Now.....I am reading another HUGE book...870 pages, I think..........Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix book #5.............this is my fiction read right now....why do I pick such huge books?  No wonder I can't meet my book challenge! LOL!  But who doesn't love Harry?
My non-fiction is a book I've had for quite awhile..........
As for a magazine.........it will probably be a National Geographic which I haven't chosen yet...........
I've been watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on Netflix (highly recommend) and knitting podcasts like Inside Number 23 and The Knitting Expat who has the cutest little girl and I really enjoy her.  That's all for this week....I'm still washing windows, cleared out my nightstand and paid all the bills for this month along with the regular household chores.  I hope you are having a good week.  My friend had her surgery today so if you would be so kind as to say a little prayer or send up some good thoughts for her healing and speedy recovery, I would appreciate it.
Happy Trails!!!

  1. Am I the only person on the planet that has not read any of the Harry Potter books? I did see the first movie though. Does that count?

You are doing good with your FINISH word this year.

  3. My goodness you’re getting a lot of reading done, and yes you’re probably the only one who hasn’t read Harry Potter! Ha ha! I’ve been watching the Knittinf Expat and I especially enjoyed the Vlogmas she did this year. I know they just left last weekend again for the UK, but I must have missed a podcast somewhere in there, because I’m not sure why they’re going back-and-forth so much except that it’s for her husband’s work. Do you know if they’re moving back there permanently soon? You make me tired reading all of the things that you get done. It makes me feel lazy. I will definitely be praying for your friend.
    Blessings always, Betsy

  4. Hi Sam :) I'm sending good energy to your friend. :) Hope she recovers very well!
Your reading is impressive! I think you'll love the Harry Potter. I haven't read them but the movies were fun to watch! A Year in the Maine Woods looks interesting!

  5. My mom was a dedicated viewer of Dark Shadows back in the day. I've never read a Harry Potter book nor have I watched the movies. Healing wishes for your friend.

  6. I loved Dark Shadows! We watched it everyday after we got home from classes at College. I enjoyed the Harry Potter books I think I read three and then moved on.
    Best wishes to your friend:)

  7. Speaking of operas...Queen of the Night is like one; it's by Alexander Chee. It's set in historical Paris. Yay for reading Harry! I read them many times and we did a movie marathon of him during winter break. I'm debating on whether or not to complete my audiobook collection.
