YOP Week #49

Only 3 more weeks????  Then comes YOP Year #7!  I better get planning!  Although I have a few things in mind for sure.....like all the WIP's from past YOP years! LOL!  But for this week here is what I've been doing and it really isn't much.....it's been a week of storms, trying to keep up with the buckets and bowls from the leaky roof.....yes.........still and then laundry when the sun shines and trying to hide my head  under the covers at night away from the lightening! LOL!  But it's Spring so it is to be expected...at least here in the Ozarks.
I did work on my shawl but my count was off so I had to rip back about 6 rows so it looks no different than last week even though I worked on it........I did manage to knit up the giraffe ears and their linings.....did you know giraffe's have ear linings?
I  mentioned this earlier this week and it will be on my YOP 2017/2018 list.....I am back to doing some charitable knitting/crocheting and this is The Mother Bear Project and you can find their group on Ravelry
I've already started my first bear..............not too far yet but the head is done.....well the knitting of it anyway...............
and for my goal of wanting homemade everything including holiday decor.....I am making this for the Memorial Day............it looks smaller in the picture but it is probably 12 X 7 inches...a little pillow when I get done.  The front is done except for crocheted stars and I have started the back which is a separate blue piece the same size.  I still have a few ends to weave in (great for t.v. watching) and I had all the yarn in my 'stash'  and the pattern was free! You can't beat that kind of a project! Here's a link
Hers looks much nicer than mine but then I'm not finished yet either.....so simple....just HDC's throughout except for the stars.
My focaccia turned out great last night...........you can actually slice it in half and use it for sandwiches....really tasty!

That's all for this YOP week!  Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend if you are in the U.S. otherwise just have a safe and happy weekend!
Happy Trails!

  2. I think we have four more weeks. Please tell me we have four more YOP weeks. I'm not ready to move into a new YOP year! On the house front... friend, I am so sorry that your roof problems persist. That you accomplish any knitting and crocheting is amazing to me. I love the flag pillow! Can't wait to see yours finished, Sandra!

    1. Okay, so this math minor can't count either besides not listening! LOL! So it is week #48? How long have I been perpetrating this miscount?
I truly just want to rip that porch right off. The roof guys told me that the windows out there are like $300.00 each and there are 11 of them.....just think of all the yarn I could buy! LOL!
I only crochet or knit when I am too tired to do anything else. I did almost finish the back of the pillow last night but today is mowing, checking tires and oil in car, and getting gas as tomorrow I go to my twice yearly doctor appointment. This is a 'wellness check'.....something the insurance companies thought up to make even more money (those greedy #$$%&*&) but if I don't go they won't refill my prescriptions. It's an 1 1/2 there and 1 1/2 back and there is no cruise control on these twisty mountain roads so I am pretty much toast by the time I get home. The good thing is I will be able to stop by my favorite health food store and stock up. I may stop by Home Depot or Lowes too and look at weed whackers....there's a gas powered one with a push button start which is highly rated...I shall see as it would put a serious crimp in my budget I'm sure. Enjoy your day!

  3. You simply amaze me. How you can crochet, knit, bake all while dealing with a leaky roof is incredible. I'm glad the storms didn't cause more damage. I love the flag pillow.

    1. Sharon! Hello there! How are you? It has been a long time. Are you blogging again? I didn't see you out there for the longest time so I assumed you quit. So glad you stopped by! Thank you but I am not really amazing just 'driven'...lol!

    1. Thank you, Rain but there is no rest for the 'wicked'? There will be mowing and then coming in and washing all the Deet off my body! LOL! But at least I have food to heat up so there will be no cooking today....although I am out of sweets! LOL! The focaccia was good with the soup but I'm reading a Real Food book right now and will be making more changes to my eating habits....whole wheat from now on and getting rid of the last vestiges of processed anything out of my diet. Wish me luck! LOL!

    2. I am forever washing DEET off my body it seems, but it's the only thing that works these days! The only processed sweet we eat now are KitKats. They don't bother our digestion and when they're on sale, I load up and then hide them all over the house lol...Congrats on the real food challenge, and it is a challenge I think. Our palates are so used to salt-laden, processed, overly MSG'd food...it's a process to change things! I wish you all the luck, but you won't need it! :)

  6. Just look at all you're getting done. I just heard of the mother bear project a few weeks ago. I may have to look into that a little more. Your bread looks amazing and I really like the flag pillow too. We've had a beautiful weekend for the holiday. No storms at all so far and it's Monday morning so I think were safe! Ha! Ha! Have a lovely day my friend. Blessings, Betsy
