I didn't get any baked goods or 2016 ornaments made but maybe I can send them later this week. At least the presents for the grands should be there on time.
Presents arrived for ME from my daughter and her family! Wow! Look at all of them! There were also 2 bags of the Cracker Jack Sugar Cookie Popcorn but I have no idea where that went.....lol!
I finally got my tree up in the front window.....it always brings fond memories of my Aunt Alice who made it. She actually made it for my Mother, her sister, but I inherited it when my Mom passed away. There's so many people I miss at Christmas time but I do have the memories.
I worked on the Peace cowl a bit. About 1 round a day is all I can manage but so far so good. I'm on round #6 now. Most people started on December 1st and if you do that and 4 rounds a day you will finish by the 21st......I'm pretty sure I won't make it but I do think peaceful thoughts for our world when I work on it.
This week my bread turned out REALLY rustic but it's tasty! I was using hot water which I think was a little too hot for the yeast and then also I would leave the light on in the oven when I put it in there to rise for the 18-24 hours and I think it's bit much so next time....luke warm water and no oven light. Bread making is like a science experiment every time but a tasty one!
I have the last of my tomatoes ripening in a box....they were all green when I picked them.......
Now that the presents are in the mail and winding their way up to Iowa, I can get back to the presents I WAS going to give them which I still will but not right now......I'm working on giraffe legs, Bob Ross still and so much more! I'm wanting some finishes in my future!
Well, tonight is old-fashioned meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. The potatoes are done and the green beans but the meatloaf is still in the oven. Nancy Jo mentioned she made a meatloaf the other day and it has been a long time since I've had one. My Aunt Bernice made the best meatloaf and I wish I could get the recipe that my Aunt Edna used to make for Swiss Steak.....it was so good and that was back when I was child. If I can remember certain dishes that long ago they must have been really delicious!
I hope all your Christmas wishes are coming to fruition.
Happy Trails!

I was working on a post today and thinking about how good it feels when the important things are done and we can start to relax and really enjoy the season. I know you are so happy to get your packages sent and how fun to get one too! I love your pretty tree! Oh and meatloaf? We love it and we always cook it on the grill...kind of like a big hamburger. Then put the sauce on top when it's done. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThe grill....that's a great idea. I put a sauce on mine too...it really hit the spot last night! Yes, maybe I can relax a bit now, make some cookies (Christmas, of course) and do some more cleaning...as always but no rush which is what I like.
DeleteYeah for getting packages in the mail! Was that Cracker Jack Sugar Cookie Popcorn good? It seems there is lots of gourmet popcorn out there...we tried some Indiana Popcorn Company...some with chocolate on it..it was very good but too chocolaty for us.
ReplyDeleteI have not made meatloaf in a long time...good idea! :)
Yes, the Cracker Jack Sugar Cookie popcorn was good. I saw a recipe for something similar on Pinterest that I was going to make but I'm always hesitant as Grayson is so allergic to peanuts and even that popcorn has ingredients made in a factory that processes nuts....so he couldn't have it. Amy knows and is very good about screening everything. It is tasty and something different for a change.
DeleteCongrats on getting the package mailed. Your grands will be very pleased. Isn't it nice to be able to sit and knit at your own pace now? Your gifts look nice but wonder how that one gift disappeared so quickly lol. Meatloaf sounds wonderful. Maybe we should have that tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteI know, I can go at my own pace again now and enjoy it. I'm glad I didn't out that pressure on myself. I figure I will "make" throughout the year but will balance it with a gift and something for me. Of course, all those WIPs too! LOL!
DeleteYou do what you can. Your grandkids know Grandma hooks them up good. Cracker Jack Sugar Cookie Popcorn? That's a first I've heard about that! I used to love eating Cracker Jack and getting that prize in the box. How neat your tomatoes are ripening in the box. Your bread looks terrific! I love the cracks on top. Oh how yummy it must have been.
ReplyDeleteOh, there was a prize in the Sugar Cookie Cracker Jack too! Yes, I do hope they like their presents. It's all about the grand kids now! LOL!
DeleteI am at the point of,,, now I too can relax,,, gifts sent,,, house decorated,,, and well I would have baked cookies today,,, but,,, had to take care of a hubby who decided to come down with a cold... I see chicken soup on the dinner menu... HoHoHo and Bingle Jells...
ReplyDeleteChicken soup sounds good regardless. I should have some made and in the freezer as if I get sick there is no one to take care of MOI...maybe that's why I don't get sick? I hope he feels better and that you don't get it....who would make those cookies? I bet you have some great recipes too! Love the Bingle Jells! LOL!
DeleteWe had two package deliveries at our house today too from our son, and our daughter says she mailed a box this morning, so another will be here soon. I finished my Peace Cowl tonight. Those were looong rounds! It's finished a little early but I wanted to give it to it's recipient this weekend at church. I plan to wash and block it tomorrow if I'm feeling better. I had one of my "rare"migraines this afternoon and evening that seem to be coming more frequently. It's always something.
ReplyDeleteI remember my Grandma's sour cream coffee cake that she kept the recipe in her head...on purpose. It was wonderful but none of us have ever been able to duplicate it.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy
Good for you finishing your cowl! Maybe your headaches are from all the close up work of knitting? Have you had your eyes checked? You know you're supposed to rest your eyes every 15 minutes by looking in the distance for a bit when working on anything close up such as handwork or pc or reading even. I have a sour cream coffee cake recipe I make. I'll see if I can find it and send it to you....it's an old recipe so maybe? Wouldn't that be something! I need to find it as I loved it and haven't made it for a long time. Lucky recipient of your cowl and all the peace that is carried within it. Lucky you with all the presents! You deserve them!
DeleteHi Sam,
ReplyDeleteI see you are busy as usual. Looks like you got some fun Christmas presents. Always fun to get something in the mail. Even if some of it is missing.
Cold and snow today, but them it is winter. I wish you a Merry Christmas, wouldn't it be nice if we could get together for a Christmas Tea party? Even if I do prefer coffee.
Nancy jO
Looking forward to receiving my present in the mail :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you a most wonderful Christmas :)
