YOP Week #9

I have been battling sciatica all week and it makes it hard to sit for any length of time and do anything.  It seems better when I'm on my feet and active but I have managed to get my shawl going...finally.  It's almost like I have to "warm up" first and after having cast on numerous times I finally get going.  I'm really enjoying it now.
My yarn shipment came in this week so I was able to pick up my Giant Granny Square and get back working on it again.  It's such a great t.v. project.  I'm about halfway done on it but of course...each round takes longer and longer now that it is bigger.
My socks are to the heel now but didn't get much attention this week as I was working on the shawl.
I really enjoyed the pattern on the leg.
I wove in all the ends on the 30 Maybelle Flower squares and I'm ready to start joining them together this week.
The yarns arrived for my new basket to go with the fabric I bought for the lining.  There are more colors but this is what I was auditioning so far.
I also got this little Erika Knight pamphlet with several quick to knit patterns in it.
I started a washcloth of a ghost as Halloween is approaching!  There will be one for each of the grands but they will all be different.  I can't remember what the others are...a witch and maybe a bat?
They're on Ravelry as a pay for group of patterns and I have a group for Thanksgiving washcloths too.  You can just begin to see his little arms and a belly button in the middle! LOL!
I found a great knitting shop this week that's online and carries all my favorites!  You probably know about it already but it was new to me.  www.loveknitting.com
This week there is a special if you spend $60.00 you get a free ball winder...that wouldn't be hard...to spend $60.00! LOL!
I apologize as I did not get around to trying that loop crochet this week with the needle looking tool.  Maybe this week.
I got up early as the sciatica woke me.....I may go back to bed now that I've taken a couple Tylenol!  Woe is me!  But...like I always say.......it could be worse!  My home isn't flooded or burned to the ground and there were no earthquakes here.....my thoughts and prayers are with all those who are suffering this week from so much loss.
Happy Trails!

  4. Hope that sciatic nerve decides to calm down soon. I don't know where to start with all your projects you have shown here. I really like the shawl you are doing and am glad you finally got a good start on it. The granny square blanket is coming along quite nicely too. The yarn for your daughters bag is perfect with that material you chose. I really like the socks you have, what is the name of that pattern. I too love the leg on them. Your dish cloths are going to be so fun for the grands to have. I am going to go to the website. I am always on the lookout for new web based yarn shops.

  6. I hope the sciatica settles down soon for you, Sam. Lots of pretty things to look at. I love that Granny Square blanket. What a treat that will be to cover up under. And now you've done it - you've got me wanting to knit another dishcloth.

    1. You've got ME wanting to knit more dishcloths too! I love yours and I saw the blue yarn today but resisted it. I need to have a finish or several! LOL!

  7. I sorry the sciatica was rough on you this week. But hoorah for fiber progress! That's a good deal to get a free ball winder for that amount because you're also getting great yarn for it as well. My Japanese ball winder I had bought eight years ago was at least $35.

    1. I don't have a ball winder so it would be a great deal for me and $60 worth of yarn wouldn't be bad either! LOL!

  8. I have been having constant sciatica pain for nearly six months. Several nerve block injections and nothing has helped. I feel your pain and hope you get relief soon. I love ALL of your projects.

    1. Oh, Bev....6 months? I feel your pain...literally. I haven't called the doc because I know there's not much they can do so I just keep "moving" and hoping it will work itself out. I hate to think I'll be taking Tylenol for the rest of my life but like I said...it could be worse!

  10. So sorry about your sciatica. I am glad that you have some projects that you can work on, but when you are in pain, it really stinks.

    1. Thank you. I keep moving and that helps...the worst is at night when trying to get comfortable to sleep. I may have to start drinking more! LOL! If I pass out then I could get a good night's sleep, right? Just kidding.

  11. I'm so sorry to hear that your sciatica pain is still there. I know from experience how miserable that is. Your projects all look wonderful. I don't know which I like better because they're all great. I do like your new yarn too.
I tried to email you today, but it was returned as a bad mailbox. I wanted to answer your question about Piper flying with her Daddy. Yes, he is a pilot for large and small planes. He's also a flight instructor and aircraft mechanic. But that's not his full time job right now. He's an project engineer for a tunnel project in Washington D.C. That's being dug under the Potomac River.

I sure hope you're feeling better soon, but meanwhile you are getting lots done on your needlework projects. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

    1. Bad mailbox! Very bad mailbox! Was that sent from here on my blog or did you send it directly from your email to mine? I get emails all the time but I know the one from this blog does not work. Do you get discounts them when you fly to see Piper? That would be really nice! Thank you for your good wishes and I just keep moving and pray it will work itself out of my body.

  16. A rather lovely selection of eye-candy here, and it's great to see a wide variety of crafts included. I think it's near impossible to choose just one favourite from them all, but (I did say 'near' impossible didn't I, lol), I love your Maybelle Flower squares. I have a soft-spot for squares like those.
Hope you are getting some relief from the sciatica pains now. Not fun. Not fun at all.

  17. I'm so sorry you are hurting. Hopefully it will ease up soon and give you a break. The design in those socks is really pretty. I am anxious to try another pair after I get my scarf finished. I also love the colors you picked out for the bag. That will look great.
