Sad but not bad.............

Well, I learned everything I need to know about 401 K deferred retirement income and mostly what I learned is that if I take it out I will be taxed greatly!  So, since I have never liked throwing  money down the drain,   I have let go of the "dream" cottage for now to focus on liquidating my assets including this house I'm living in which might take some doing as there seems to be a glut on the market down here right now.   But it has got me "moving" in the right direction anyway.
Fall is winding down here but still beautiful with perfect temps.  It wasn't the prettiest fall I've seen here but there are still spots of brilliance and what's not to like about fall anyway?
the weeds seem to be the prettiest sometimes..........
since we haven't had a freeze things are still growing just not as fast.........
I love the Bradford pear leaves and fruit............
I am forging ahead with the packing of boxes..........to be ready at a moment's notice!
My biggest and best treasure...........books...........no room designation as they go with any decor in any room..lol!
Here's those yummy Tollhouse Chocolate Chip cookies I made the other day....I always use the recipe from the package of semi-sweet morsels.  I do add pecans to mine but only when the nut allergic grandson is nowhere around!
When I have a project going (which I always do), I have to ensure I have food prepared in case I tire and don't want to fix supper there needs to be something to reheat at least.  So, I have my main meal this week and the cookies for dessert.  I also needed a snack and I try to do healthy.  I decided to make homemade guacamole since I had never done so before.  Delicious and pretty healthy and I utilized some of my tomatoes that are still coming in.  I used this recipe although I left out the jalapenos mostly because I didn't have any.
I had it with these new to me chips my daughter recommended and they are good!
I like them much better than the regular Tostito chips although you can't load them up like you can the thicker ones but that might be a good thing! LOL!
  Have you tried them?
This was the morning of the storm we had the other day.  They predicted severe but I never heard anything and I had my weather radio on.  It made for a beautiful morning sky though. "Red sky at night, sailor's delight.  Red sky at morning, sailor's warning."  And it was.....
Last but not least in any way was this yummy, delicious, fattening I'm sure, salted caramel mocha latte frapacino

that I made for myself ............who needs Starbucks?  Decadent and delicious!  She also includes a cupcake recipe to match but I didn't want to over do it! LOL!  I'll save that for next week!  Getting ready to move really gives you an appetite! LOL!
HappyTrails!

    1. That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm trying very hard not to buy any and then I only keep the very best which are so good I will reread.

  2. Those withdrawals for retirement can really get confusing can't they? I hope you soon find exactly what you want and can afford. Yummy goodies today. Those cookies are "calling my name"!

    1. I was disappointed but it's still there and if I keep moving in that direction who knows? There might even be one that is more perfect for me down the road. And yes, I think I finally understand how it works but I didn't at the time I was saving that money all those years.

  3. I'm praying things will work out for you...for the best. I know it would be better if you sold your house so that you can make a good move. The chips look yummy. I'll look for them! Sending you some extra hugs tonight, Diane

    1. Thank you, Diane. I think you hit the nail on the head. This way, if I liquidate everything here then I don't have to make trips back for various things or have any maintenance issues long distance.

  4. Isn't it a little irritating that we saved that money and then when we want to use it, they want to tax us on it? It really makes me a little angry! Hopefully you'll be able to make the move soon and not be made to pay those huge penalties that they incur on us. Goodies look yummy!

    Good luck.

    1. Hi Judy,
Thanks for stopping by. I agree with you....it's all crazy stuff and of course my "people" don't want me to take it out either as that is their bread and butter. Oh, what a tangled web we weave but I am grateful I have it, and a roof over my head....there are many who are not as fortunate.

  5. I hope your plans to move will work out smoothly. Yes, those retirement monies are not taxed when we put them in the account so they are taxed when we take them out. It seems that tax can not be avoided.

    1. I knew they were taxed but they said it would be at a lower rate when you retire but evidently that's only if you take it out a dollar a time like once a month! LOL!

  6. I'm sorry your "dream cottage" didn't work out. But you will get moved. of that I am sure. If by nothing else, sheer determination! Love the sky photo.

  7. I'm sorry you had a glitch in the moving plans. But there is something out there that is meant to be yours. It may take time but seriously, when you find it and get it, everything will click into place. Other than that, at least you're getting things done, you feel good, and you have delicious food and drink for comfort.

  8. Oh that is sad news!
That is the problem with cute houses! One gets attached to them just by looking at pictures and daydreaming! Lol! I love houses so much the "picturing yourself living there" is the easy part, the hard part is not getting carried away before anything is definite! And house buying/selling is a very uncertain business!

One thing in your favor, fall/winter is normally a slow time for buying a house. So maybe "your cottage" will be around for awhile!
