Only 20 more weeks of this YOP year!!! Can you believe it? It seems like we just started! I did have a good week as I "backed up and regrouped" sort of. I went back to my first year of YOP which was 2012-13 and I found lots of finishes but several unfinished also. There was this rug that is around here somewhere and as soon as I find it I will finish it. Remember my 'word of the year' several years ago? It was "finish". Well, this is the year....it's just sinking in. I told you I was slow. My rug is a mottled cream color solid if I remember correctly.
Then there was this blanket which at the time I could not afford the yarn..........that was when I thought you had to use the recommended yarn......I've "come along way baby"! I have converted Spud and Chloe sweater yarn colors into KnitPicks Brava worsted yarn colors. Hopefully, I will be ordering this week! I know I have other blankets on the go but I am starting from my YOP lists. This is a blanket that I still adore so I am going to make it and finish the rug and that will strengthen my resolve to move ahead with more finishes.....I hope! :) This is the Seeing Stars Blanket and is a pay for pattern on Ravelry.
Now for this week, there are some final finishes! In the gift category..........the cowl...........finished and ends woven in...there was just a teeny ball of yarn left. I used 1 skein of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, worsted in 5002 Citrus Punch colorway. I crocheted the 20-row version. I know this was supposed to be a gift but I don't like the wonky way it looks so I will make another one that quality control won't reject.
For the charity handwork, I finished the one mitten and have the cuff done on mitten #2
For me I have been trying to crochet a heart each day until Valentine's Day so I can decorate my tree..........
also for me, I am practicing the feather and fan pattern in a washcloth so I can start my Multnomah shawl again that uses that pattern at the very end of the shawl. I goofed up last time and had to frog the entire thing! :( I'm having no trouble with this feather and fan.........
The only cross stitch I worked on was this....I have to find my reading glasses or else go buy a new pair! I need them for xs not reading.
I also mentioned this past week that I am going through recipe and craft books and I am going to use them or pass them on........this first book is The Farmchicks in the Kitchen. I bought this from Thrift Books. I made their grandmother's pie crust and I am now a convert! Next up are their cinnamon rolls. There are crafts in the book also.
Yesterday I made turkey pot pies with turkey from my freezer (trying to clear out the freezer). It was excellent!!! Here's the recipe
If some of you were wondering why I did not blog yesterday.....I think I was fighting off a bug. I went the whole day and even took my walk but I was really tired so by 7:30 I turned out the lights and slept until 5:30 this morning.....never waking up once! 9 hours of sleep! I was exhausted evidently! I think I might skip Saturday blogs anyway because Sunday is YOP. We'll see. Tonight is the Oscar's....not sure I can stay up for them! LOL!
