But I am exhausted because the weather radio went off about once an hour. It is still raining here. Just a steady drizzle and last night didn't seem that bad. I have been through worse storms where there wasn't even a warning. We had 1 tornado warning but it was canceled so quick that I didn't even make it to the basement. PTL! No one was injured anywhere that I heard and only one house destroyed in Missouri. Very grateful!
I did get a treasure in the mail today..........I'll be curling up with this tonight or early this afternoon...I am really tired! There are also 2 NFL playoff games today which I'll be watching.
I fixed myself an egg McMuffin this morning for breakfast...........with 'OJ' on the side.........
After peeling the oranges I put them in a mason jar with white vinegar which I use for cleaning. I have a spray bottle that I refill with the orange-scented vinegar. Save your orange peels! They are also great for grating before you peel the orange and then freezing for adding to dishes later. Lemon peel is also good for the same reasons. Any citrus will work; limes and grapefruit too.

I have wanted to try colorwork for quite a while now and this may be the place to start. A project that is not too big or important like a sweater so if I make a mistake it won't be a tragedy....... plus, it is so sweet!

So glad the storms were not as bad as predicted.
It might be awhile before I do the color work. I am so far behind on all my projects but I am so tempted! LOL! Evidently the ravages of the storms were not reported until later. I felt so bad! There were 8 people killed and lots and lots of damage throughout the Southern states including Arkansas. I spoke too soon sadly.

DeleteWe were under the gun last night also, but not much happened except for wind and rain. I'm glad you were safe and also glad the storms were not as horrible as some folks on facebook predicted.

DeleteHope you will have calm weather for a bit now. I use vinegar for cleaning and do the same with peels. That little quilt book looks interesting. I'm not much of a sewist but I really do like the small art quilts people make. Take care and have a great day.

ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your new quilt book. Curling up with a book sounds very nice. Our weather looks like your first picture. Snowflakes falling for two days now. Luckily it was warm enough today that it didn't accumuate much this afternoon. However, they just posted yet another winter advisory for snow tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night. I guess January and winter finally arrived with a vengance.
I've never tried the vinegar with orange peels. I may need to try that when I run out of my cleaner. Must use up what I have already. I'm trying very hard to be less wasteful.

At least with snow you don't get woken up in the middle of the night! LOL! i have replaced most of my cleaners over the years with non-chemical types. It's cheaper and better for you.

ReplyDeleteThat "little quilt" book is the very first one I ever purchased when I started quilting in the mid-90s. It's a good one for beginners and I've made several of the projects in it. Enjoy!
That's nice to know! I've started reading it and I learned a few things...tips and such which I can use! I used to love a good thunderstorm but now it's straight line winds or flooding or tornadoes. A gal can't even relax and enjoy a good storm anymore....they're more apocalyptic nowadays!
