I got to Mountain Home and back safe and sound. It got quite foggy as I got closer to Mountain Home but not as bad as it could have been! The labs got taken and I saw the doc and evidently, my upper number bp has gotten higher so he's increased my bp medicine. I did take Jim's things (not all of it) to the Salvation Army and then stopped in their store.

Then I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a few items for a Christmas shadowbox I want to make.......I have the shadow box and some Christmas scrapbook paper. I just needed some miniatures....I hope these will do.
I also got 1 skein of cotton yarn.......
I think I spent less than $10 at the Salvation Army store and Hobby Lobby........that did not hold true for the grocery store though................I bought a few things from their deli.........items I cannot get around here like prosciutto (Italian ham), fresh grated parmesan, wine infused salami, brie, fresh salsa and bagel crisps. Some of this will be for Christmas munching...........
That was my trip to the big city! Oh, I was starving so I stopped at Sonic on the way home. Also, I had the Starbucks Creme Brule' Espresso Latte...big disappointment! Tasted more like hot milk with a little sugar....do not waste your money on that one! I'm pretty sure whoever wrote the recipe for it has never had a real Creme Brule'. I have had the Peppermint Mocha before and it is good and the girls at the counter said their favorite was the White Chocolate and Toasted Almond.

I always try to "treat" myself to a Starbucks coffee while I am Christmas shopping in a neighboring city that has a Starbucks. I learned my lesson last year with a different blend, but this year I ordered the Peppermint Mocha. I was disappointed. I ordered and the line took at least 10 minutes to get the window. Then they lost my order in the system and it a few minutes to figure out how to order the coffee so they could make it without messing up their system or something. Finally a manager ordered it through a register at the counter and they took my $5.50. I thought I ordered the biggest one, but it was a medium (I think I said grande? I should have said large) and I thought it was kinda small for five dollars and fifty cents. No one asked if I wanted whipped cream or anything either. It was time consuming and disappointing. We do have a Dunkin Donuts on the edge of town, so I went there about a week later since I saw they had "happy hour" from 1-4 with $2 mochas. I got to the window and my order was $4.85. Because the PEPPERMINT mocha was excluded. Next I went to the grocery store where a large peppermint mocha creamer was on sale for 2.18 and whipped cream was on sale for $1.99. Now I can have a peppermint mocha everyday cheaper than one medium at Starbucks.

ReplyDeleteYou had a busy day and got lots of neat treats. I've never heard of wine infused salami! I don't drink coffee at all but Dennis does and he has never liked Starbucks. We have an independently owned chain out here in the Northwest called Dutch Bros that makes really good hot chocolate chai. I treat myself on my birthday and that's about it!
ReplyDeleteYou found some treasures at the Salvation Army. I gave about 10 pair of those fancy scissors to charity last year when I was going through things I don't use. I tried to get into the whole scrapbooking thing back in the day, but never really enjoyed it at all. Now I have lots of half finished albums.
You restrained yourself very well at Hobby Lobby. It's definitely a weakness of mine so I don't go there very often unless I need something in particular.
I hope they are able to get your BP back in a good range. It's never good when you have to deal with that, but you have definitely been dealing with lots of stress this year.
