It's a cleaning, cooking, and crafting frenzy!!!!

I mentioned yesterday that I had vacuumed my laundry room and kitchen and also washed both floors.  I want a 'tiny house'.....this house has a lot of floor space but I have a new mop and bucket system and cleaner.  I got them at the suggestion of Debbie at Nobody Needs to Know on You Tube.  She has some wonderful cleaning videos and she has been cleaning houses for over 30 years...I think she started when she was 16.  I  ordered the mop system she recommended and it is an O'Cedar Ultra Max and in Canada it is called a Vileda.  Debbie is from Canada.  I found it on Amazon......where else?  I like it because it is flat and it has a removable microfiber mat that you can throw in the washing machine.  I need to order a spare as I only have the one.  With the flat rectangle you can get in corners and also you can rinse it and squeeze it out in the special bucket.  It bends in half to rinse it and then you just hit it on the floor and it snaps back to flat.  You can also easily use it for walls and ceilings!  No more dripping rags in your face or drip marks on your wall.  You can use it dry to dust your walls too.
This is the bucket....
As for the cleaner, she uses Dr. Bonner's Lavender Liquid Castile soap for many of her cleaning chores.  I was a bit skeptical as she only uses a few drops of it like 3 or 4 in the bucket of water......but it cleaned great and the room smelled great too!  I was amazed!  My floor is over 40 years old and coming up in places but look at it!  Take my word for it this floor looks better than it ever has!
Today was back to the garage....I really haven't done much out there since the garage sale except I took a carload to the Thrift Store and threw out a bunch of stuff.  I've been working outside but now it is time to finish up and get my car back in the garage.   When the new pest control guy came for termite control he drilled holes in the foundation both outside and in the garage so things had to be moved away from the walls.  Afterwards he was going to move things back but I told him to leave it that way so I could sweep and clean.
I swept first and then vacuumed with my cannister....I got this area done .......
and part of this area....4 hours and that is all....but again....this is my Dad's stuff and I have to go through it and clean, organize and decide if it goes in the garbage or to the Thrift store  or if it is something I can use.......if I was planning on staying here I would tear out those shelves and build a work bench for myself
This may take awhile......
On the cooking side; I made my salads in a jar again....I really am addicted to them.....
as for crafting, of course Mrs. Claus's Workshop has been going strong but I can show you things that are not gifts that I work on for relaxing in the evening....my Cozy Memories Blanket which is using my old acrylic stash.......this is a fun project and also addictive!  I try to do 4 squares a week or more and I'm trying to get it as wide as I want it  and then I will start on the length of it.  It will be the blanket for my bed.
That's all for today folks!  Hope you had a great one!
Happy Trails!!!

  4. Your blanket is looking great Sam! Oh I do SO HOPE that I can find time to start knitting again...I still want to make that King sized Hudson's Bay blanket...that may be a few years in the making!!! I want to at least find time to knit some slippers! This rental is like a sieve and the floors get really cold.

I have a Vileda! It works really well, and I love the bucket! :) I love the smell of lavender. We have to use the Febreeze anti-bacterial spray on the couches because of all the pets, and I always put a few drops of lavender essential oil in them to take that chemical smell away. One day I would love to just make my own cleaners and sprays...one thing at a time though!

Your salads in a jar are really cool! We're finicky with salads, we have to be in the mood, so I can't prepare that many ahead of time. One thing I can always prepare though is cookies and cakes lol...we're still eating the cheesecake from Halloween!

Good luck on your organizing! It looks like a big job!

    1. I should get that Febreeze antibacterial spray! I didn't even know they made such a thing...I would spray it everywhere! LOL! I wondered if you had one as it is made in Canada. Part of the reason to make your own cleaner is it will save you a lot of money too! I am going to put my cleaning recipes on my blog here...one of these days....soon! But we are all 'dancing as fast a we can' so I totally understand. People think if you are home all day you should have plenty of time to 'conquer' the world and we don't even get a lunch hour! LOL! I work all day and I know you do too. That cheesecake looked so good....maybe for Thanksgiving....I'm in the mood for cheesecake for sure! Yes, the organizing is a big job but one I have put off for far too long so it is time and I really feel good about even the littlest progress. I'm 'pumped' and much thanks to friends like you who keep me motivated!

  5. I'm going to have to look up that mop system. We have Pergo floors and everything leaves water spots unless I get on my hands and knees. It's a huge area, living room, dining room, kitchen, hall and office. Since I hurt my back I just can't do the hands and knees thing. Does this get all of the water up? Did you get the Dr. Bonners on Amazon too? Lots of questions.
You have so much more energy than I do. The garage progress looks like it is coming right along too.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

    1. Check out Nobody Needs to Know on You Tube as she has all the info there and special instructions for pergo, wood, ceramic tile and linoleum. Not sure the Dr. Bonner's is for Pergo...I can't remember but the only other thing she uses is Ivory Dishwashing liquid. You squeeze out the mop in the special bucket that comes with it....no standing water at all. I totally understand as I used to do the floors on my hands and knees but I can't as it takes forever for me to get up and down! LOL! What I like about this mop is it gets in the corners. I push myself. I have my list I make every morning and then I pick the top 3 priorities and work on them until done and hopefully get more done than the top 3. My reward is I knit or crochet a round and then back at it! You have to dangle carrots, for me at least, or I would never get anything done! LOL!

  6. Oh my, you've been busy! Everything looks so good. Interesting bout using the Dr. Bonners for house cleaning chores. I especially like that it only takes a couple of drops. Your new blog look is great!

    1. Thank you Leigh...it's nice to get that support from my blogging friends as there are days when it seems like I'm running in circles and getting no where. I can't tell you how much it means to me when my friends are so encouraging.
I was surprised myself about the little amount needed and it is a big container so as she said....it's a bit pricey...I'm thinking $11 on Amazon but it lasts forever at that rate.

  7. *claps* Come crack the whip over here. I'm so lazy. We only thoroughly clean if we're hosting a meal here. Most of the time I just make the sure the guest bathroom is clean as my neighbor's kids come over 2x a week and do the laundry. My kitchen always gets wiped down since I cook and work w/raw meat.
