Good, bettter, best!

I went to Mountain Home yesterday to The Wound Clinic and what a beautiful day it was.....cattle in the fields and hay mounds and beautiful vistas with shining waters.....yes, I've been watching 'Anne with an E'...the new Anne of Green Gables series on Netflix thus my descriptive phrases have become a bit 'flowery'! LOL!
All is good...not really a wound as it is healed now and just a bit of under the skin infection.  They were extremely thorough and I got a complete check of my circulatory system and my nerves for any damage as their usual clients are diabetics and people with cellulitis.  Seeing people in wheel chairs with swollen and bandaged limbs makes you very grateful you can even walk much less deal with those conditions.  I had blood work earlier in the day and in between my appointments I read in the waiting room and then again in the room they put you in where you wait once again.  I have a new appreciation for my RA doctor as he is extremely thorough and I am  lucky to have a doctor of his caliber in our area.
After my appointments I went to Hobby Lobby.....yes, I said I would never shop there because of their stance on not covering birth control for their employees of whom the majority are women...really?  They consider the pill a form of abortion and it goes against their religious beliefs....of course that is a male dominated belief but I digress.  It is the only craft place around here so I succumbed but I was very good and only got a few supplies for 'crofting', as Joyce of Ruby Moss Cottage would say, and a few supplies/gifts for Christmas.  Yes, I said it.....Christmas.....L O V E........and I already have big plans for Christmas in July (starts the 25th don't ya know) which will be after the Big Grand(s) Birthday Bash coming up next week!
A little peek at some expensive but gorgeous vintage style scrapbook paper or is it card stock?  It doesn't say but it seems pretty thick/sturdy.  I'm a novice in this area so can anyone tell me?  It is not labeled for either.  Oh, do I have plans for this little beauty!  Stay tuned!
I also dug out a few of my Christmas plates and will be filling them with Christmas 'making' supplies in 'The Christmas Corner' of my crafts room.
My daughter and her family got me this plate one year and I just love it....so vintage and so me.
My dear and talented Aunt Alice made this for my Mother and I inherited it...........
I got this pamphlet just to show you...it is Hobby Lobby's Yarn Bee brand of 'cake' yarn and comes in all different colors for about $6......quite a bargain.  I didn't buy any because it is not on my project list but thought some of you might want to know.  You could probably log onto their website and see a better picture of all the color combos and you can order from there also if you are so inclined.  Just an F.Y.I. as the other 'cake' yarns are about 3 times the price.
I looked for material but they don't carry reproduction or civil war type prints which is what I was after and although they did have a few pre-packaged  fat quarters and charm packs they were all brights and patterns I would not buy for my use.  Back to my online ordering!  It's nice to know though.  I also looked for some 4th of July lights and they had them but for $25.00!  Yowza!  Actually, I thought most of their items were overpriced....a cute pillow for $24.00?  You have to be really careful, I think.
On the bright side, I was able to snag some Patton's Kroy sock yarn for almost half price but they only had 4 skeins.....another thing they do not carry....sock yarn....this must have been a fluke! LOL!
And the beads I needed for another project were also half price so on the items I needed I pretty much scored!
They predicted rain and storms in the afternoon but I was 'spared' and got home safe and sound about 6:00 p.m......the girls were happy to see me and we were all hungry.  After a nice supper we retired to the bedroom where I watched Inside #23 podcast, received a nice call from my daughter and worked on my Frosted Pumpkin cross stitch which I am really enjoying!  The last 2 nights I was able to do the black and everything beneath it.  Can it be that I am really going to finish things this year?
Today is garbage day, Grace to the new groomer in town maybe, lots of weeding, making a new meal and dessert and working on YOP 2017-18 list for next week.  The grands will be here next Monday, weather permitting, so it will be a busy week preparing but all with joy in my heart and the steroids to help me keep up! LOL!
Happy Trails!

  1. My Hobby Lobby carries a lot of sock yarn. Also, they have 40% coupons each week that can be used on 1 regular priced item. As for their over pricing.............they have sales on stuff all the time that brings the price down anywhere from 30-50%. Especially on home decor. It is my favorite craft store in town. I love being able to sing to the music they play LOL. My Daughter in Law went for the first time a few years ago and looks at me and says "This is a song they play at church". LOL My family is so smart!!! Anyway............thanks for letting us know about the cake yarn. I did not know they were carrying it too. It is wonderful for prayer shawls. Good find on that sock yarn and what a great price for that too. Your frosted pumpkin is so pretty. I can not longer cross stitch thanks to RA but love watching it unfold on other's blogs.

How is the roof holding up with rain? I am hoping it has been taken care of now. That way your family with have a wonderful visit this year.

You are so smart, getting the Christmas projects started. You will have yours done before I even thing about what I will make this year.

    1. I didn't hear any music while I was there but maybe I was distracted? Who wouldn't be in that craft 'wonderland'! LOL! I got your email and will answer one of these days...thank you so much! More appointments and company coming are keeping me occupied although I am taking care not to overdo it either. I don't get any sale fliers from HL and they don't advertise anywhere that I've seen. I guess next time I should look online at their flier before I go! Thanks for the tip!
I hate to say it but there was a storm today and the roof is leaking still...they haven't been back but I haven't called either as I've been busy.
I don't know about Christmas getting done or not....good intentions are great except when you have to go out and buy something because you didn't finish their gift in time! LOL! It's happened here!

  2. Well! You're making great progress on Christmas already. I have some ideas but haven't even begun. Did they finally get to the problem with the roof and I missed that post? I sure hope it's fixed now.

I love Hobby Lobby. If you buy something with the 40% off coupon they will even let you keep the coupon and use it again later. They don't have very good sales on yarn very often, but if I watch and go in frequently, sometimes I can snag a great deal. I could spend hours browsing in that store. Earlier this spring I bought a new metal shepherds hook for the yard at the trailer. It was considered home decor and 50% off. It was at least half the price of any other stores in town, because I had been looking around. That is the same brand of beads that I'm using on my shawl. I can't wait to see what you're up to with those! Have fun crafting!
    Blessings, Betsy

    1. No wonder I thought things were high.....with 40% off the items I was looking at would have been reasonable priced! LOL! I love those beads as they go with almost anything. No, roof is not fixed yet! I'm mad now but don't have time to mess with them. I hope nothing has happened to either of them but if they just haven't bothered they are going to hear about it! I could have fixed it myself by now and I don't know a thing about roofs!

  3. Hi Sam! :) Glad to hear your appointment went well. I hate going to doctors and clinics...avoid it at all costs, likely to my disadvantage! The two stores in my village are on my blacklist because of their attitude towards English-speaking people. I'm so tempted sometimes to just walk to the corner for eggs or butter...instead of driving 15 minutes on the highway...but then I remember why I banned them and it makes the drive easier! But I have broken the rule at times I must admit. I try not to though, they don't deserve me! lol...

    1. Yes, always try to stand up against discrimination and the things you believe in...I felt like a traitor to myself but most probably I won't be going back anyway. Up North we had Michael's which I liked much better than Hobby Lobby and Joann's too but they don't have them down here.

  4. I'm so glad your appointment went well and came back clear. I have yet to visit a Hobby Lobby. The one closest to me is further northeast. Oh man I bet I'd heat up my CC there. One of these days I'll get there.

    1. Thank you, Stefanie.....now I have to go to a podiatrist though as they feel there is an infection under the nail bed.....I'm not liking the sound of that at all! I always warn them that I've had 4 kids and I have no intention of going through any unnecessary pain so they had better drug me good before they think about any pain filled procedure! LOL!
You'd better stay from HL then.....lots of scrap booking supplies and art supplies and lots more!

  5. You got some good buys...a smart shopper. I went to Michael's a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed in the prices and in what I bought! lol You'll have fun when the grands get there. Save some energy for next week! Hugs!

  7. Thank you, Connie. I just hope I'm up for it. I thought I'd be in great shape for them being on steroids and all but I am very tired...exhausted really...not sure what's up with that but it could be that I am just trying to do too much.
