I had to go out to the highway and get gas for my SUV and mower and it was just the perfect day to be outside! I mowed........
and watered my plants and they are all coming up! Zinnias and a perennial I forget the name of it now. I actually planted better than that but we had heavy rain shortly after and they got a little swamped together. The tomatoes have doubled in size! All the rain we've been getting...tomatoes love water......
radishes are up...............
Bush beans....yellow and green but I can't remember which is which...I'll know eventually! LOL!
a volunteer zinnia....the tall ones...........the others I planted are shorter...........I love zinnias..........and so do the butterflies
The tiger lilies are in full bloom....the deer love these but they are staying away so far..............I love them too as they remind me of my childhood...............
My Asian lilies are blooming.... so pretty and they smell good too!
and guess what I spied in the woods? Raspberries! OMG! I am so excited! They are all along my property next to the woods! There's lots of them! I have lived here 13 years and never saw them before.....another miracle! They look red but not sure what they will turn out to be as they are just 'babies'.....I'll be keeping a close watch on them for sure! Raspberries are my favorite fruit of all!
Here's a picture of one little area that I weed whacked....sad huh? I know I need to perfect my technique a lot! LOL! But at least it's a start! After I get this area cleaned out I am going to put mulch in it as this gravel is pretty ugly and sparse.
I only mowed today but tomorrow is Walmart for a few things and then I will weed whack again when I get home.....it will be easier to see now that I mowed too. This is turning out to be one fantastic week so far! I hope yours is also!
Happy Trails!
Great that you and your new weed wacker are now best buddies. I have a terrible time putting the plastic wacker in when it wears down. Love the job the weed wacker does cleaning up edges and I use it sometimes instead of a lawnmower in small areas. Your vegetables and flowers are looking great.

Joy! How are you? I have put you on my sidebar now as I redesigned my blog one time and did not write down 'addresses'....duh...like I could remember? What was I thinking! So glad you stopped by! I will be by to catch up! The new weed whackers (mine anyway) have about a 12 inch cord you just stick in 2 holes at the top and it comes out the sides. I bought a reel but will cut into the proper length. It's cheaper to buy the reel and cut your own then buy the precut ones. It is so easy compared to the old reels you had to mount on the trimmer and 'bump' to get more cord.
DeleteI was having trouble with comments yesterday but it seems to be working today! I was glad to hear they finally found the problem with your roof! Also congrats on your weed whacker. We just bought one too, for the first time. What a difference it makes to have the edges looking trimmed and neat! And your container garden and flowers look great!
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope they found the problem! LOL! We've been down this road before! LOL!
DeleteI think Google does some work behind the scenes as I had troubles the other day with typing anything or commenting. I finally gave up and came back later it was fine.
I needed the weed whacker as my old 'scythe' just wasn't cutting it....literally and the weeds here can grow a foot overnight it seems. With all the rain we've had I couldn't get out there and when the sun came out they were already tall...really tall! LOL! It will take me awhile to catch up but I bet by the end of the summer I will have big biceps! It is heavy after awhile. Thank you for stopping by, Leigh!
Your flowers look great!
ReplyDeleteThank you, glad you could see them among all the weeds! LOL!
DeleteYup it's certainly a beautiful day and your flowerss are looking so beautiful
ReplyDeleteHere it's so cold and windy
Big hugs x
Actually, I love all kinds of weather now that I stay home all the time. Cold and windy is one of my favorite cozy days to light candles and sit with some needlework! Hugs to you too! Enjoy your coziness!
DeleteIt looks like you have gotten a lot done! All of your plants are coming up beautifully. We had 95° yesterday and today is only 64. Got to love the weather don't you? I'm so glad you're getting so much accomplished and you're able to get your weed whacker started.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Hi Betsy! My daughter in Iowa said they had hot and humid weather...and here it was sunny and not humid and low 80's...go figure! We're getting hot and humid next week thought, I think.
DeleteI'm happy you're having a great week Sam! It's turned hot here now and I'm happy happy happy! Our lilac tree seemed to have bloomed overnight and I need to pick some for my lilac lemonade, I hope I have time to make some!
ReplyDeleteI love lilacs to smell and now you can make lemonade with them? Awesome! Glad you have the weather you've been patiently waiting for!
DeleteLooks like everything is green and growing! I've had a wonderful day...farmer's mkt and walk at the park...then Walmart this afternoon! WHEW! I hope I don't need to go back! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteEverything is enjoyable when you're retired! LOL!
DeleteI was watching one of our gardening programmes last night and they were visiting a lady's garden who had trouble with deer coming and eating stuff so her trick was to suspend blue string between the trees and plants in her garden, miles and miles of it because her garden was huge but she said it worked and all it does is detract the deer from coming near her precious plants and trees that they'd taken a fancy to eating. It doesn't harm the deer in any way, they just stayed away. I wish I was retired! I'm bushed tonight after a really busy week!Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful these great flowers are thriving on your property. And thank you for your well wishes; I feel normal now :O).
