It's Monday! What are you reading, listening to and/or watching?

I haven't been getting a ton of reading time in with being 'too pooped to pop' at night....I think part of it is allergies that affect my eyes and they are really 'blurry' by night fall.  So, I am trying to get to bed earlier...lol....before my eyes give up.
I'm still reading these..........on page 519 of 734 pages.....it's a biggy.........but very good!
and this one.............on page 234 of 305 so I'm getting there............
as for magazines........there are these on my nightstand...........
and National Geographic which the scientist in me loves!  My friend, Sue, gave me a bunch of these from the library that someone dropped off and I am thoroughly enjoying them and plan on passing them on to my grandsons who also love science along with my daughter......they are too precious to end up in a dump somewhere....not that they would but you never know!  Thank you, Sue!

As for watching....I watched a great movie that Connie of Far Side of Fifty recommended....The Great Gilly Hopkins (Netflix) and then over the weekend I watched Places in the Heart with Sally Fields and Danny Glover which was excellent about a depression era widow who takes in outcasts to save her family home...I watched this on the Feeln channel which costs me $36.00 a year and has the best movies and shows!  All decent too....family oriented....my kind of movie channel!  The podcast people have sort of waned in their podcasting....once a week or maybe once every 2 weeks of my favorites...I'll have to find some new ones, I guess.  I did watch several episodes of Life Below Zero about 4 families living in Alaska near the Arctic circle.  The strange thing is the single woman in the show swears like a trooper while the others don't swear much....it's on Netflix and its a reality show.  It's not great but I so love to see how people survive off the grid pretty much and I wish they wouldn't try to impart so much fake drama into it.  I just want to see the daily lives and struggles of those who are brave and know how to survive in the wilderness and the beauty of it.  If any of you know of any other shows like that please let me know....I'd like a simple one....not the hyped up drama where they rehash the same stuff for half of the next program.  Sorry, I didn't mean to rant but maybe I should go back to watching decorating shows? LOL!  Please share what you have been reading, watching and/or listening to.
My list was long today per usual for a Monday but it was a beautiful day and I got quite a bit done so the week is off to a good start!  I did laundry, hung it outside, went to town and got a few items and did some banking, paid some bills, cleaned the litter boxes, knitted a bit on my 2nd sock and brushed both Nitty and Grace....the 2 who are really shedding!  Of course there was also dishes and cleaning up the kitchen etc. There's lots left on my list so I will have plenty to do tomorrow thank goodness! LOL!
I hope your Monday went well!
Happy Trails!

    1. Those are cream cheese biscuits! I'll try them sometime and post the recipe if they're good. Cook's Country is from America's Test Kitchens and they test the heck out of recipes and so by the time they publish they have really fine tuned and perfect. I am really enjoying HP books.

  2. Jingles is shedding so much right now. I bought a new magazine on our recent trip to Jordan -- it's called Brownbook and is about people who choose to live a rural life in the Middle East. Very interesting. My favorite things to watch on youtube right now is anything that has to do with tiny houses, a zero waste lifestye, permaculture and plant life, boho style and vegan cooking. My husband sometimes watches those shows that are supposed to be about real life, but when it comes to tv, there's always added drama for effect so never seems very real at all.

    1. So true! I am going to look on You Tube for some other shows...I like something I can look forward to at the end of the day while I do my handwork and relax.

  3. I haven't had time to read much lately, but I took a few minutes to enjoy hot tea and some crochet work on the porch yesterday. I love Cook's Country. I borrow it from the library often. You sound like me - lots of housework to do.

    1. It's a busy time of year and I wish I could sit on your porch with you and we could crochet! It's starting to warm up down here..81 yesterday but not humid and a nice breeze. I have to mow to day as storms are predicted for tomorrow and the roof boys are coming today plus it's garbage day and I need to cook and bake! It's why we get up in the morning isn't it? I love my life though....never boring!

  5. That Cooks Country magazine looks wonderful. I'm thinking maybe I should subscribe to that one. I've read all of the Harry Potter books and watched the movies.. in fact, I rewatched the movies a couple months ago when I was down flat on my back. I can't help you on TV shows, we never watch TV anymore. All I watch is YouTube videos. You're right, some of my favorite podcaster's haven't done many recordings lately, but it night Dennis and I like to watch RVing, tiny homes and simple living YouTube videos. That's pretty much all we watch anymore. I think I'll be canceling cable at the end of our contract. We were able to go out to the lake over the weekend and although it was cool and rainy for much of the time, there we have antenna TV and we watch a lot of the old shows like Andy Griffith. Why can't they make shows like that anymore? And guess what? I got over 11,000 steps in on my fit bit yesterday! That's the best I've done since my fall! My physical therapist was very happy this morning. Have a lovely day my friend.
    Blessings, Betsy

  6. Hi Sam! :)) My reading has stalled to a complete halt! That happens in the spring for me! :) Also the watching...Alex and I try to watch a movie together in bed every day to be close and enjoy each other's company and we've been keeping that up, but honestly I've been either pooped, in the yard or with the dogs the rest of my time!!! We've been watching a lot of old Jerry Lewis comedies and some film noirs with Laird Cregar, sad he died really young but made some really good movies, "Hangover Square" and "I Wake Up Screaming" are two that we saw recently if you can find them, they're pretty good! :)

  7. I started a book today but I'm not 'into it' yet. And we watched one of our DVDs tonight...Poldark. It's good but life is hard in this series...to say the least! Enjoy your week sweet friend. Hugs, Diane

  8. HI Sam, you are always full of good ideas. I will put some of my recent reads and current on my blog soon. I would be lost if I didn't have something to read. Sometimes I'm lost anyway, running upstairs and then wondering why I'm went up there.
    HAPPY SPRING
