Yes, a trip to Walmart although I am still contemplating Amazon Prime and/or Jet.com. They both carry organic and groceries and almost everything I need except for Nitty's canned dogfood. They have plenty of organic and healthy dog food but it is really expensive! Even the Newman's have dog food now....you know, Paul and his daughter.
But I went to Walmart today and here are some of the more interesting items I purchased.....they still had some Christmas mark downs so I picked up this Wonder Woman ornament for $1.86 originally $8.00. The other side say's "always there when you need her..able to do amazing things!" I was going to put it on my tree as I used to be called "super woman" but nowadays I think my daughter deserves the title so I may save it to give to her next Christmas.
I got 6 packages of this Christmas themed tissue paper which was originally $1.98 per package for $.37 each. I will use it!
Have you ever tried these tomatoes? They are delicious and stay fresh for so long in the container. I usually buy the grape or cherry but now they came out with these larger tomatoes. They are the freshest tasting for being wintertime. It's funny, they say there are so many undocumented workers that are working in California on the farms yet all the produce I bought today was from Mexico. What's up with that?
I'm trying to eat healthier so I bought some avocados (from Mexico) so that I could have them in the mornings on my homemade bread. It's a healthy tasty breakfast item.
Remember my Happy Hooky pillow cover I made a while back? Well, I could never find a pillow form to fit it and so I was going to make my own and you know how that went. Well, they had a new size at Walmart....12 X 16 so I'm hoping that might work. From now on though I will buy the form first and make the pillow accordingly! LOL!
Did I tell you I am taking a Craftsy class on dyeing my own yarn? Well, there is a supply list and quite an extensive and expensive one to start out so it may take me awhile but I was able to get some supplies today. You can't use these things for food once you use them for dyeing.....they need to be kept separate.
I also picked up one of these...........which I CAN use for other things...like tea etc.........
Now I need to find a 21 quart stainless steel pot and also a stainless steel roasting pan. Walmart did not have them so the hunt continues.
BTW..........the Swiss steak dinner last night was delicious! The whole house smelled so good.....yum! So, I'm off to have some more of it tonight!
Happy Trails!

Ihave not made Swiss Steak in a long time...sounds good! I have heard good things about Jet and when it comes to dog food those bags are heavy. Having then delivered to the door would b a plus! I never developed a taste for Avacado:)
ReplyDeleteI can only buy the 25 pound bags (which cost more) as the 40 pound are just too much for me to lift into the cart and if I put them below it's too unwieldly trying to get it in there. It takes 2 people, one to hold the cart and the other to get it down there! I can lift more than 40 lbs but it's the carts that drive me crazy. I do the softner salt but it's local here in town and their carts are up higher and plus they put it in my car for me. I imagine there are people who have to leave it in their car and transfer small portions to their softner from the car. I'm thinking my day is coming! LOL!
DeleteI love avocado. Just needs a little salt and it's perfect. I also mash it, add some salt and cumin, lemon juice and spread it on toast. Or eat it with spicy homemade pita chips. My youngest boy dropped our tea kettle similar to the one you bought. It now has issues and may need to be replaced. :/ Fresh produce shouldn't last forever so it makes you wonder how it's been grown. We get Driscoll products here which is a company out of California. My oldest son said he thought the company produced GMOs. The company says it does not, but it does mostly use conventional methods, which means the use of pesticides; it only has a few organic farms. And here I thought I was buying something really good. Certainly is expensive. Think I'll just go back to using frozen berries.
ReplyDeleteI need to make some of those homemade Pita chips! Also, I will try your cumin and lemon juice. You're my role model when it comes to living a healthy life style but what bothers me is we can't get much healthy food around here....no choice and that is sad.
DeleteYou did get some good deals on those Christmas goodies with th esale. I always wonder how produce can last very long. It makes me rather suspicious if it lasts longer than a few days. I have thought about an electric tea kettle, but we have a keurig and it produces a pretty fast cup of hot water for my tea. Hubby only drinks one cup of coffee a day in the evening so that little machine has come in very handy for us. We bought the cheapest one available and we've had it for over five years now so I think we've gotten our moneys worth.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
I have a Keurig too and love it but the electric kettle if for my yarn dyeing. Part of the "stay fresh" is the container. If it's not organic, trust me, they are all getting pesticides. We have no organic tomatoes here.
DeleteI haven't had a car to get to the store for two weeks now. I had one for a brief moment to visit the library, but one car remains parked and waiting for parts. I do need to buy a few new spatulas. The dog got ahold of them and chewed them up (urgh!).
ReplyDeleteI only go to the store about every 2 weeks usually. You should look at Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace method. He states, and it is true, it's not IF you will have an emergency but WHEN so he tells you to always have an emergency fund for those "emergencies". His course is really good and gives you a lot of info and knowledge when it comes to finances....car problems, appliances,...it's all just a matter of time! LOL! In fact, a fully funded emergency fund should be 3- 6 months income. I highly recommend his books and course. Not sure if it would help if you're waiting for parts but you might have been able to drop it off at a garage and have them deal with it and have it back by now. I tell my children the same thing about Dave as I don't want them coming to Bank Mom when they have an "emergency"! LOL! Hang in there! Like gas...this too will pass! LOL!
DeleteYou got a good eye for bargains and goodies! I keep hearing the ad on Spotify how Twinings is now sold at Walmart. I may have to take a trip to out there one of these days.
