I've been gone.....Fall is busy and there have been all kinds of things happening....good and not so good. The not so good I will leave be as it is friends, politics and the world which is way too much to cover in one blog post! Suffice it to say though I have not been resting on my laurels. The only time you can really work outside here in Arkansas is Spring and Fall so those are times when my blogging is sketchy. They are short seasons and I have to 'make hay while the sun shines'.
I have been getting some handwork done in the evening although not as much as I'd like. But here it is......I'm sure you're sick of seeing these but it's all I've got for now! LOL!
You probably can't tell but I have made progress on this blanket....at least 3 or 4 rounds. I'm on round #59 of 68 not counting the border and I was just about done with round 59 in pale rose when I realized I was going to run out so I went to the yarn I had ordered and found another skein of pale rose....only it didn't match the one I had been using! LOL! I hadn't been using pale rose at all but some lilac, I guess. So, I will take out that round and start over with the REAL pale rose since I have plenty of it.
I have got the Join As You Go method down pat now and have been joining my Maybelle squares. I have one left to join in row 5 and one more row after that. But alas............look at the yarn I have left.....not much! So, another yarn order from the U.K. which will take about 2 weeks. Not that I don't have plenty of other projects to work on but it would be nice to be able to finish something once in awhile.
I am committed to knitting 3 squares a week on My Cozy Memories blanket and I have this week. I also wove in the ends when I knew I would not be trying to pick up any stitches where I was weaving in. It is going to be wider than what you see but I am trying to 'vary the variegated' with solids so depending on what yarn I pick up determines where it will go....sort of.
This is one of the projects I've been working on....for a couple years now. It takes 3 coats of paint...maybe 4 so it is a long slow project. I'm able to get more painting done now that I have a tablet I can take out with me and listen to audio podcasts. Lately it is Knitting Pipeline which I really love! It certainly makes the painting seem to go faster!
Fall has finally arrived for real in the Ozarks.......not a terrific lot of color change yet but it is starting.............
The Bradford pear has lots of 'fruit'......non-edible little decorative nut-like fruit.....
and these are on the edge of my yard but I have no idea what they are but so pretty.............
This is my favorite pumpkin/squash this year...........I love the mottled colors and rustic look...........
The clematis has started blooming again with the cooler temperatures.
and the girls are loving being able to stay outside all day without the extreme heat............
I've also been doing some baking..........muffins are a wonderful 'grab and run' breakfast to get outside with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy the beauty and fresh, crisp air of this wonderful season....
I hope you had a wonderful week and I hope this next one is even better! Happy Trails!

Those muffins are making my mouth water :) Wow you have made such progress with your blanket and to think you have come so far at row 59, well done xx I know that feeling of frustration when you run out of yarn but oh so worth it when your order arrives. Love your dog photo's xx I love the colours of autumn in your photos too and the pumpkin has some lovely colours. The clematis is such a beauty and what a stunning colour.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Faith! I do like having several projects on the go just in case you need to put one down for awhile.
DeleteI LOVE your blanket. Wonderful colour combination. Blueberry Muffins look perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt's Cherry Heart's pattern and color combination....I love the colors she puts together in her projects.

ReplyDeleteHi Sam,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering where you went to. Except for whatever you seem to be up and running. Three projects at once, working outside, baking. I'd say you get a lot done.
Your blankets all look so nice. I made one like your first picture for a friend a long time ago. lots of colors.
I had a really good day at the thrift yesterday, Will post pictures all this week, I posted one yesterday. Cool here today, 50's. Leaves are starting to fall, we have a lot of trees so are raking right up till Thanksgiving. Kitty is sitting here and helping me type, she is very handy.

I'll be over soon to catch up. I bet it's beautiful where you live. We have lots of oaks here so not as much color as I'd like. Oh, Thrift Store? I'll be over for sure!
DeleteYour blankets are just amazing, and I'm quite sure you will find projects to keep you busy while new yarn comes! Your muffins look brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThank you , Lucy. I love doing blankets for some reason but then you don't get many finishes with them! LOL!

ReplyDeletebeautiful work! I want to come and vacation at your place. Always so much great stuff, pretty sites and awesome baked goods!!
ReplyDeleteMany people do vacation here and there is a several resorts here in town. If I ever get my house in order it would be a nice place to have a knitting/crocheting retreat since I live alone in a big house.
DeleteGreat progress on your projects, Sandra. The muffins look yummy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stefanie...I always love your projects and your baking too!
DeleteYou are doing well on all three blankets. Your granny will keep you nice and warm during the AR winter. In AZ we only enjoy being ouside from mid october to mid May. Otherwise, if we are outside it is to swim or run errands.
ReplyDeleteSame here but I really dislike the humidity here....there really is a difference but hot is hot!

ReplyDeleteOh, I love all your pictures, Sam. It's finally cooling off in central Indiana, but there's not much show of color yet. You pictures really put me in the mind of autumn, though. I just love your growing granny blanket. I'm curious how long it takes to crochet a round now.
ReplyDeleteI can get about one round done in an evening now. Hopefully, a couple more weeks it will be done but I will want to start another as I loved making it so much but I need to move on to other projects.....mostly WIP's that have fallen by the wayside! LOL!
DeleteYour projects are coming along nicely! Love your granny square afghan...but I probably have said that before! The girls are looking good:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Connie. We are all feeling pretty healthy and energetic around here lately...probably because our favorite seasons are here!
DeleteI love all of your projects. The granny blanket is coming along nicely. I re-started my cozy memories blanket and I'm enjoying it. I'm doing it a it different this time...making 9 squares like a nine patch quilt and then I'll put a border of cream around each of them. I'm hoping it will resemble a quilt when it's done. :-). Those muffins! Yum! I'm so missing blogging but blogger still won't let me post for some reason. I'm going to try again tonight.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I hope your blogging resumes soon. Did you get the "quilt" idea from Bakery Bears? Did you see her cozy memory blanket but she made? One is like a log cabin with a cream border and another is a set of 12 blocks...with colors representing each of the 12 months with a cream border.
DeleteYour blankets are coming along great specially with the addition of Fall and yard work not to mention that yummy baking, I'd say your doing good!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your vote of confidence especially coming from a young Mom with plenty on her plate! This aging thing is what is hard as I tire easily so I have to switch things up a lot ie; I can only do something for so long as the legs get tired or in painting the hand cramps up etc. Silly stuff that was never a problem when I was young! I guess it's only going to get worse though so that should REALLY motivate me to get a move on! LOL!
Deleteyour blankets coming out very pretty!! the muffins loooks yummy
ReplyDeleteThank you! I got the muffin recipe from www.AllRecipes.com and you can add all different ingredients to them depending on what you have on hand.
DeleteI love those granny squares! And it's cooled off some here this week so that will be nice. Maybe I'll bake some blueberry muffins! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed these crochet projects immensely and so glad you are okay from the hurricane!
DeleteYour blankets are gorgeous, and I love the pictures of your plants...that mottled pumpkin is so unique looking.
ReplyDeleteThank you and your mosaic socks inspired me to pick mine back up again! Although, mine are not such an advanced design as yours. I too love the mottled pumpkin the best! Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteLove to see your blankets. Makes me feel like I need to get busy and learn how to knit and crochet better.
ReplyDeleteYum! Your muffins look delish! I need to cook a pumpkin and mash it and make some pumpkin muffins!!
Have a sweet day, and enjoy this gorgeous and abundant time of year.

It's getting down there at night so those blankets are going to come in handy! I taught myself to knit and crochet using You Tube and some tutorials and books. It's just practice, practice, practice as with most skills. Oh, pumpkin bread or muffins sound good too! You have a great week and enjoy your beautiful scenery there! Hugs to you too!
