YOP Sunday

This will be a quick update and there's not much to it really.  I've only worked on 2 things this week.........I finished the front of the "Happy Hooky" pillow.........
and part of the back.  The back is 2 sections with a 3 button closure that overlaps in the back.  I have one section almost done so by next week I would like to have it finished, blocked and stuffed with a pillow form.  I hope there will be a standard one that will fit it.
I also worked on my 2nd sock.............almost done with the leg.........
Podcasts I watched this week were Susan B. Anderson (knitting and spinning), Cherry Heart (crochet & knitting), Inside Number 23 (knitting and sewing) and I just started watching Homespun House which is knitting.  No progress on sewing or cross stitch and embroidery.
Today I went and got gas for the mower and also blueberries to make my dogs some homemade treats.  Nitty is allergic to wheat and beef so I make them several different kinds...this one is blueberry ......
Here's the recipe...........

·

Ingredients

·         1 1/2 cups oat flour
·         2 1/2 cups quinoa flour
·         3/4 cup flax meal
·         1/2 cup frozen, organic, unsweetened blueberries
·         1/4 cup olive oil
·         1 large egg

Directions

1.      Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a nonstick baking mat or parchment paper; set aside.
2.      In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients with 1 cup water to form a dough. Roll out mixture between two sheets of plastic wrap to 1/4-inch thick; remove plastic wrap and cut out biscuits with a 3 1/2-inch bone-shaped cookie cutter. Reroll scraps and continue cutting out biscuits.
3.      Space biscuits 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes until nicely browned and firm.
4.      Transfer biscuits to a wire rack. Turn off oven and place biscuits on wire rack in oven overnight. Remove from oven and store in an airtight container up to 2 weeks.

It calls for some unusual flours but I was able to get them on Amazon.  They've lasted a long time.
I hope you had a good week and are planning on another one!
Happy Trails!

  1. Your pillow is adorable. Love how well you matched the stripes on your socks. Those dog treats sound yummy for humans too. I didnt let my dogs see them tough, or they would ask me to make them.

    1. Oh, Marsha, you give me way too much credit....it's self striping yarn...Regia Kristin Nicolas series. I know what you mean about the dogs....I never tell them ahead of time just in case it doesn't materialize. The disappointment on their faces is more than I can bear! LOL!

    1. I was going to make your recipe for a change but I have no rice flour. I'll have to get some of that. Glad you're having some nice weather!

  3. I thought at first the treats were for me! I looked at the recipe and noticed it didn't have sugar and I was so excited! haha! But I guess it might be a little heavy and chewy. Enjoy your week sweet friend. Hugs!!!

    1. Have you ever cooked with Splenda? You use it just like sugar and I even have a great cookbook using it. Are you diabetic? I'm not but it's supposed to be great for that. I'll try and remember to post it as it is a great cookbook. Enjoy your week too!

  6. Lucky pups! I make quinoa chocolate chip cookies and use oat flour for a lot of other recipes. Very expensive to buy them here, though. Great job on the pillow cover and socks. Have a good day!

    1. I liked doing it and I like that I found a way to use up some really old acrylic yarn. I was ready to donate it but I think I've found a use for it now which is great because I can't afford to but those expensive yarns although once in a great while I treat myself.
Yes, "the girls" love the homemade treats.

    1. Thank you but I'm the lucky one with my girls....they guard me and protect me and they protect me from "critters" and they are my "early warning system". I don't know what I'd do without them!
