YOP Sunday

What a difference a day makes!  Thank you all for your kind words of support.  I felt so much better just reading your comments and Connie, thank you for trying to help my long lost posts!  Tomorrow, I will share what I have learned about backing up and saving your posts but I want to experiment and make sure it works before I pass on the info to you.  So, check back here tomorrow for blogging backup, restore and printing!
Meanwhile, I have turned my self-pity into productivity!  I vegged out and did what I wanted and threw self-discipline out the window for this weekend!  Well, I did feed all of us and I did change the sheets this morning....okay, I have a hard time ignoring things around here even though it looks like I do all the time! LOL!
Remember these?  My Canadiana socks?  This is the first sock and when I last worked on it, I had turned the heel and was ready to work on the foot.  I found them this week and was able to finish the first sock!  I have definitely become a faster knitter and without making mistakes every 2 stitches it's amazing how much progress one can make! LOL!
Instead of starting on the 2nd Canadiana, I decided to work on sock #2 of this pair...........I've finished the ribbing at the top and have actually started knitting the cuff.  Now I understand why it's nice to have several socks cast on...or more.  It gives the knitter a nice break in monotony from working on the same yarn.
 Another washcloth waiting for edging.............
And this week I learned crochet intarsia!  I am obsessed with it!  It took me a bit of time and tearouts and start overs but I get it now and I can't stop!  I got a free pattern for this cute pillow from Little Doolally
which is still available over on her blog.....I have other projects to do using intarsia but wanted to do something simple to learn on and this pattern fit the bill!  When it's finished it will say "Happy Hooky".  I'm just using some old Red Heart acrylic worsted weight but I am loving how it's turning out!  The words are done with a variegated yarn while the background is cream.  Amy (Little Doolally) has a great tutorial for doing the intarsia work and the pattern for the pillow includes the back also.  Thank you, Amy!
I made bread yesterday too and although it is "fiber"....I'm not sure it counts for a YOP update...lol!
I slice it all up and put it in my Lock n' Lock for safe keeping!
I haven't planted my lilac bush yet but it couldn't wait to bloom! What a little trooper!  I love lilacs.
Happy Trails!
P.S.  I saw my first hummer the other day and I had the feeder out already...just waiting for their arrival!
P.S.P.S  This week I have been watching Susan B. Anderson knitting podcasts.....LOVE that woman!

  4. Great productivity here. The crochet intarsia looks really cool. Do you think it'd be easier than knitting intarsia?

  5. We get hummingbirds for most of the year here in the San Francisco area. They love our lemon and orange trees. We used to have some bottle brush trees that they really liked, as well...but those made my allergies go bonkers and they were messy and just a pain in the butt. So, we got rid of 2/3 of them...and the third one has been severely cut down for now.

  6. I, personally, think the bread counts for fiber credit. It looks beautiful. And delicious. Once again, an amazingly productive week from you, Sam. And you've inspired me to at least check out the intarsia crochet. Your pillow will be so cute when it's finished!

  8. Socks and squares and bread, oh my! So happy you got back to your socks. I like both of them equally. The washcloth is almost there and the color is nice and soft. I will need to look up crochet intarsia............I think I have been doing it for some time but didn't know it had a name LOL. Your bread makes my mouth water. I had to throw away my bread maker and miss having fresh bread each week. Your lilac brush is all ready for spring.

  10. I looked for some way for me to print out those blogs posts and send them to you, but so far other than screenshots it seems impossible. Sorry. Your socks are looking great! I admire anyone that can knit socks!! A hummer I am jealous but the poor little things would freeze up here:)

  11. Your socks looks wonderful. I particularly like the second one as I love the colors in it. And the bread...I have a serious love affair with homemade bread. It looks good enough to eat! Ha! Right now. Seriously. Why does my bread never look that good? Your crochet experiment is turning out beautifully too. You get so much done you put me to shame.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. I think you are pretty darn amazing, Sam. Seriously, you've mastered knitted socks. Bake your own bread. And always bring a smile to my face. :) You accomplish so much each and every day. I think that intarsia is amazing -- I've tried to do it but for some reasons just can't seem to get it going. I'll have to check out her tutorial. Have a great week.

  13. I hear birds but I don't see any humming birds. We typically won't see them until the flowers are in bloom. I don't put out feeders for them, just flowers. We get tons of butterflies too. The socks look great.

  14. I love your stripey socks...they look so comfy! And I'm glad you figured out about backing up your blog. I haven't done that in awhile! EEEEE! Love that home made bread. I love to bake it but I can't stop eating it when I do! Enjoy your week sweet friend. Hugs, Diane
