YOP Week #49

I am so bad this time of year to be getting anything done fiber-wise so please excuse the lack of YOP progress. It will probably be this way for awhile as I have presents to make, company coming in July and August and a new baby (for you bloggers that only visit on Sundays)...........I introduce you to Mr.  Peeps who is actually a girl but I didn't know that when my daughter started calling him Mr. Peeps.
She's too cute for words and you can check back on this week's posts if you want to know how she "showed up" on my doorstep!  She is quarantined for another week on my porch until she gets her shots.  The vet figured she was 4 weeks old last week when I took her.  Babies are time consuming!  But so fun.

My Canadiana yarn showed up from Fishknits Yarns and I could not help myself but cast on and that's about all I've had time for....maybe tonight I can get some cuff work done.  I can't wait to get to a stripe!  I am so bad because I have the second Kristin Nicholas sock to knit.
I've been so tuckered at night I just mindlessly crochet granny squares but at least I managed to weave in the ends.........
Here are the latest colors and you can see the "granny" part...........
I hate to admit it but this quilt for my grandson is still hanging around! I am going to finish for when he comes in July.  I have wasted so much time on it.  First I tried to machine quilt it and I'm not sure if it was the machine or the operator but I took it out and then I tried hand quilting but I'm not very good, didn't have the right needles and it was taking forever!  So, my seam ripper has been working over-time.  I have decided to hand-tie it.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL!  The kid will be graduating from high school before he gets it!
For me this should be YOP Year of Shame not Projects! LOL!  I looked at my lists (on the right hand side of my blog) and it has been a pitiful year of little progress.  I went rogue!  I haven't even finished projects from the 2 years previous!  Shame on me but I must admit I am far better in the skills department.  I will try and do better and reference my projects as to what YOP year and whether they are even on the list.....the 2 above aren't.  Although, I think I might have referenced an ongoing sock knitting from now until forever.
I hope you are all doing great on your YOP's and maybe someone could mentor me in
"stick-to-it-iveness"?
Happy Trails!

  2. Mr. Peeps is such a Cutie. I would love another cat but we're gone way too much. It wouldn't be fair to the cat. Your quilt is wonderful and I'm sure your grandson will love it. We all have lots of projects that are sitting idly by waiting to be finished. Don't be too hard on yourself.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  3. Lovely quilt. I believe hand tieing them is wonderful. And much quicker too. I think we all have had issues this year getting our projects completed. That is why we keep this going each year. We all seem to start out great and then Christmas comes upon us and we loose ourselves in gift making and after that, all we want to do is knit/crochet/sew for our own pleasure.

I think Mr Peeps is adorable and will make a great addition to your family.

  5. What a cute kitten and that's the beauty of YOP it allows wandering and side tracking and things will get done when they get done, no biggy. These are our hobbies to be enjoyed around real world stuff.

    1. Thank you, Ruth. You have SO many more responsibilities than I do but it could be those days that I had them wore me out and that is why I am so slow these days.....and old age...although I never like to use excuses. I try to live in the moment and I certainly enjoy my life except when I realize company is coming! LOL!

  8. Your YOP is impressive to me, even if you haven't quite met the goals that you placed for yourself :)
I mean it! You are always busy as a bee, and you inspire me to get my tail in gear, and get things done!
Sweet little kitty... such sweet eyes.

    1. Thank you, Kerin and maybe that's the beauty of these blogs because you inspire me too. We're our own little "mutual admiration society"! LOL!

  9. You get far more accomplished than most of us! It's more fun if you do it at your leisure.
I know it's easier said than done. I have a hard time not pushing myself too!

  10. I think my problem is that I am wanting to move and trying to go through things and get rid of stuff. The move is my priority and if I want to get back up North I have to forego other "pleasures".

  11. Nothing wrong with going a bit rogue! ;) I think we have all changed our goals quite a bit, and I think I've knitted as much on the YOP list as I have knitted off the list!

I like the look of the new yarn - looking forward to those stripes - and hand-quilting is so laborious, isn't it? I usually machine-quilt or just tie, which is great (and so quick) for quilts that don't get sat on much (it rips the knots out of the fabric I find...).

Your new baby is looking adorable!!

  12. Thank you, Iris! I am feeling better about my progress or lack of it. I do feel so good about my knitting skills having improved so much and having learned a lot this year. Yes, I have decided to hand tie and it is much easier!
