Sunny Thursday!

But snowy Wednesday...........
I was really looking forward to this winter storm and it did not disappoint!  It rained in the morning and then turned to sleet which is this picture
but then it turned to snow and you couldn't see across the yard!
Big fat flakes the size of a quarter or more.........it snowed all afternoon and was still snowing when I went to bed.............
This was Nitty when it first started.......she loves the snow as much as I do...........
Shake it off!
it snowed............
and snowed........
and snowed..........I was in 7th heaven.............
and then this morning I woke up to this beautiful scene and the sky so blue and the sun shining so brightly......what gifts!
the only tracks were those made by the deer in the upper middle of the picture below.....can you see them?  They cross the street there to go to the lake right beyond those trees.
The birds uncovered the seed I had placed out there the night before.  I feed them every day between about 3 and 4 in the afternoon so they can go to sleep with food in their tummies to keep them warm through the cold nights.  There's plenty of water all around as the lake doesn't freeze and there is a natural spring too that feeds into the lake that doesn't freeze.  All within walking flying distance.  And of course now, there's the snow!

I'm enjoying the snow and the girls and I went out and did some "tracking"....you can see tracks so easily in the snow if  the girls don't run ahead of me and obliterate them! LOL!  I found out there's a "critter" living in one of the crawl spaces under the house as you could see the tracks leading away from the door.  Hmmm....I'll have to tell my Terminex guy as there is wiring, cables and pipes in there.  I wonder if that's why my cable in the family room doesn't work for my dish?
I hope you stayed warm, happy and well fed today!  Happy Trails!

  1. We have snow, snow and more snow here at my daughters house in the DC area. I am ready for the warmth back home. Your pictures are beautiful though and I'm sure the animals are grateful for you feeding them.
    Blessings,

  4. I have never seen flakes of snow that big. Amazing how your weather is the total opposite of ours.

    1. I know...actually the average is 67 this time of year...it has been very unusual but I don't mind. I just widh it would freeze out the weeds but they live on through it all!

    1. Thanks Maggie. I'm so glad you stopped by as I have come over several times and could not comment. I've been having some problems with my modem so I may need to get a new one. I kept getting "server timed out" when I went to publish. I will keep trying so never fear! I loved the marmalade....it's always been a favorite. Yours looks scrumptious!

  7. Oh how I have wished for just one cozy winter snow storm this year. We have been mild and boring...snooze....sun, partly sunny, partly cloudy, a small rain system moving through every 10-14 days. Too warm to wear my hand knit scarves and shawls and mitts. Sunny and in the 60s today, and while it is beautiful, this should be happening in April or May. Not the norm at all for rainy old Seattle. Your pictures are so pretty and I can just picture Nitty in the snow, as that is how our Molly has behaved in the snows of years past. Your little bird house is so cute, and what a great snap of that sweet little bird sitting inside.
Hope you have a safe and warm Saturday!

    1. I was just reading about "climate change" and they were saying how the weather people have not been reporting about how warm it has been in your area and that they only talk about the East coast and I must admit I finally stopped watching the Weather Channel because they would rarely talk about us either. We were getting the weather while they would only talk about how it was going to affect the East Coast. I must admit they've had it bad but they have equipment to deal with it...we don't! I'm fine because I'm retired but working people here have it rough when we get weather like that. Normally it is in the 60's here...this winter had been way below normal. They stated that you and Oregon would get warmer as extremes in temps are going to continue.....evidently you may have to come here to get a snow storm! LOL! Who knew?
