YOP Week #13

My goals for this past week for YOP were 1) finish the other 3 squares for Blaithin CAL,  2) work on and hopefully finish leg of sock #1, 3) get yarns ordered for Maybelle and more,  4) sew and crochet more strips for rug, and 5) start nature's Walk CAL. I'm sure there's more but that's all I can handle right now!

1) I did not work on the Blaithin squares at all.  I need to rethink my colors and hopefully this afternoon as tomorrow the new pattern comes out!
2)  I did not get the leg of sock #1 done but it's getting there...........love this yarn and these colors..........

3) I did not order any yarns either..........
4) I also did not sew any strips for the crocheted rag rug
5) I did start the Nature's Walk CAL and got 4 of the 8 squares done for the first week.........I'm going to try and finish the next 4 before Tuesday when a new pattern comes out and then I'll try and catch up with the Blaithin CAL but switching between is not efficient.  I have this one almost memorized so I'll finish them first.

My goals for this next week for YOP are 1) finish the other 4 squares for the Nature's Walk CAL  2) finish leg of sock #1, 3) get yarns ordered for Maybelle and more,  4) sew and crochet more strips for rug, and 5) catch up with the Blaithin CAL squares. 6) work on Frida Kahlo basket 7) cross stitch days...............wish me luck! LOL!

I was a real slacker this week for YOP as you can tell although I did get other things done around the homestead.  I also finished some books and started some others.....I have 30 read out of 75 for the challenge.......I finished this one...............

and this is what I'm reading now...........

I just got my first bloom from my hydrangea and it's huge!  I cut it way back this spring so that may be why it's late but there are lots of blooms coming now......

I don't do anything special for the color.....it's just the soil here that gives it the purple and pink
I finally caught up with letter writing, thank yous and packages to mail out and that took all of Friday practically!  I spent $50 at the post office.  I have to budget for postal expenses now it's gotten so pricey!  Today is make ham and bean soup, a blueberry pie from Mama Pea's (A Homegrown Journal on my sidebar) recipe if I get that far.  There's football and ironing and handwork.  I hope you have Fall temps and colors.....it is green here (my header is from another year) and in the 90's for another week at least or so they say!  I would give my eye teeth to be in Montana right now!  A blizzard!
Happy Trails!!!

  1. Your hydrangea looks beautiful, my next door neighbour has ones that come out much deeper purple, I think we have acidic soil here. It’s good to get things done around the house before the weather changes, knitting and sewing will always be there waiting patiently. I’m excited to see how Nature’s Walk comes out, such a pretty pattern.

    1. My husband and I have been married for about 7 yrs now. We were happily married with two kids, a boy and a girl. 3 months ago, I started to notice some strange behavior from him and a few weeks later I found out that my husband is seeing someone. He started coming home late from work, he hardly care about me or the kids anymore, Sometimes he goes out and doesn't even come back home for about 2-3 days. I did all I could to rectify this problem but all to no avail. I became very worried and needed help. As I was browsing through the Internet one day, I came across a website that suggested that Dr Great can help solve marital problems, restore broken relationships and so on. So, I felt I should give him a try. I contacted him and he did a spell for me. Two days later, my husband came to me and apologized for the wrongs he did and promise never to do it again. Ever since then, everything has returned back to normal. I and my family are living together happily again.. All thanks to Dr Great . If you need a spell caster that can cast a spell that truly works, I suggest you contact him. He will not disappoint you. This is his E-mail:

  2. I love your socks, they will get done, there's no hurry. And your hydrangea is gorgeous, ours are just going over.

  3. The socks are a great color. The Hydrangea is very pretty. My grandpa always told me the soil is what determines the color of them. I thought it was just an wives tale. Guess not.....sorry Grandpa for doubting you. There are times when other things besides crafting need to be done. Have a great week!

  4. I like your socks! Wow that Hydrangea is beautiful!! WE are cold here and rainy again. I am loving the Blaithian CAL, bought some dark purple and torquoise and burgundy to even out my colors a bit. Hometown Crafts had yarn 25 percent off. I know I should not have bought more...oh well. You have lots of projects in the works. I saw your comment on the Facebook page for the CAL. Have a great week!

  6. You amaze me with what you accomplish, even if you don't reach all your goals. And your recipes sound so tasty. It will be in the 90's here in Northern Ohio, too. I have heard that October will be Hot-tober. I will say I am not a fan. Bring me some cooler temps!

  7. Such a pretty hydrangea Sam and those socks are great. You are welcome to the snow. We had to come home from Nebraska the southern route which added an additional day to our trip so we missed Pipers birthday. We drove through some snow and lots of rain and there is a freeze warning in the city we're staying in tonight. It's waaaay too early for this. It's making me worry about the winter. Apparently it's been snowing at home for 2 days now. We'll find out tomorrow when we get home.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. So glad I read through the comments. I didn't notice the new header on my own, but it IS good to see Nitty and Annie. And your autumn pics. The hydrangea is so pretty. Reminds me I need to cut out some deadwood and some general trimming from my lilac bushes before it gets cold. I love the idea of blooming shrubs, but I'm not so good about actually taking care of them. I agree that the colors in that yarn you're knitting your socks in are gorgeous together. The colors you've chosen for your Blaithin blanket are real pretty, too! I hope you have a good week upcoming, Sam!

  9. Hello, fellow list maker! Your lists (especially of handwork projects) always give me encouragement, even if you don't quite manage to accomplish all you set out to do! Sometimes I wonder why my handwork goals always seem to take a back seat to other items on the list, but I guess one simply has to tend to things like food on the table and shoveling out the messes tracked in every now and then. ;o)

Not sure which blueberry pie of mine you referred to but wanted to mention that the one with the crumb topping freezes beautifully. At least the individual pieces do. Since we've been trying to cut down to "sugar-y" goodies only on Sundays, I end up freezing individual pieces of pies and the blueberry comes out almost "good as new!"

Hope you have a wonderful week. Ours will be doing inside things as rain is forecast for every day!

  10. You always inspire me to get a move on and get projects done... thank you!

I'm just finishing up a Joanne Fluke book; cozy murder books is what I call them :)

Hope that you have a great new week!

  11. I too love the hydrangea. Beautiful. I hear you about switching from one pattern to another - sometimes it is easier once you have learned a pattern to just keep going. I know putting down and picking up my fisherwoman's sweater is a challenge. Old brain has to re figure itself after an absence. I am very impressed with your reading. I don't read nearly enough these days - but as winter closes in I am sure I will pick it up more.

  12. Thank you so much! The package arrived yesterday...I love it all! You are ever so thoughtful! I will use the dishrag for a potholder for awhile! :)
