I also went to the Dollar Tree and got a few items but not much of what was on my list. I had looked at a Pinterest "hack" posting of 50 things you could get at the dollar store to organize especially in the kitchen....well....they had none of those items! Maybe the wrong dollar store? I'll try Dollar General later this week. I did get this cute sign for Halloween though...........for $1.............
I found more primer in the basement that was "fresher" and I put a coat of it on the steps this morning.........so tomorrow I will try the gray porch paint again
My other books arrived today which is great because I finished this one last night..........so good these books...just gentle and relaxing reads...........
I already started book #2 of Joanna Fluke's Hannah Swenson mysteries.......I was itching to read her again.....it reminds me of home in the midwest and snow and small town living........and she's single! They are great mysteries too and a bit humorous at times plus she has a cat.....of course! P.S. It comes with great recipes also!
I got this first book in the Poldark series which was a PBS Masterpiece Theater series that I only saw about 2 of. A friend of mine said the books are great and she couldn't put them down.....I'll let you know. BTW , did I ever get back to you on that monkey butt powder? It's awesome and I love it! The calamine lotion makes all the difference!
I got out my pumpkin cross stitch from last year...I'm going for a totally handmade house as much as possible...........sorry for the crooked angle......
I also started a "halloweenie" washcloth.........tis getting to be the season...although evidently not in the Ozarks........still hot and dry.......but it's supposed to change right on the first day of Fall....I can't wait!

I've watched videos of organization using Dollar Tree items and yet I can rarely find the items there myself . Those mystery books look great. I like the easy reading books too. My brain can use a break and not have to overthink things. A nice relaxing book sounds great. I wonder if I can find them at our library? I'll have to look.
ReplyDeleteLove your pumpkin cross stich and the washcloth colors. I decorated our house yesterday. Not a lot of things but a little color. I like it. It definitely is feeling like fall here. We've had frost on the car twice this week at the lake. Yuck! It's way too early for that. Not ready for this much cold in September.

ReplyDeleteDollar Tree seems to be hit or miss around here. There are three within five miles of me--two good-sized stores and one smaller one. The small store (most convenient, of course) was really short on merchandise when I was there in May. Wondering if they might convert it to a Dollar Tree Plus. It's in a nice retail/restaurant complex.
ReplyDeleteThe other two stores are in nice strip centers and are stocked better and similarly, although the arrival and setting of new merchandise can vary by two or three weeks. Might be on different delivery schedules.
I've been reorganizing my kitchen and looking for those wire shelves to use in cabinets. What do you think is hard to find? lol Finally purchased six at one store and six at the other. I was too polite to wipe out the entire stock at either store!
No autumn colors here (central Arizona). High was about 105F degrees yesterday--supposed to cool a few degrees over the next several days. Summer will be with us into October.
Although I change a few things seasonally--pillow covers, throws and other items that need to be laundered--the only holiday I decorate for these days is Christmas. Even that is very low key. We used to decorate interior and exterior of house and both front and rear yards. Required three months to put everything away!
Now I enjoy everyone's seasonal decor vicariously via the internet. :-)
Hi Sam :) I love the washcloth!!! I have started a few things for Halloween!!! We don't really decorate outside, but I do always have fall colours in the house. And of course on Halloween, I decorate pretty much the entire downstairs!! I have some ideas for my pumpkin carving this year...it's still a month and a half away but time flies!
ReplyDeleteIn between painting (I'm on trim tonight), I'm cleaning and putting out some fall things. I don't really have much, but I switch out white candles for autumn colored ones, and set out my crocheted pumpkins and switch my summer kitchen towels for yellow, orange and green ones. Once the new carpet is laid in the empty room we'll be able to get all kinds of things out of our living room and I hope to really make hay at that point. Mostly cleaning and organizing and dejunking, though. Decorating will be minimal, I suspect.
