A quick post before the storm rolls in.............

My treasures came today!  My Mother's Day gifts to me.  Next year I'll have to plan better so they arrive before Mother's Day! LOL!
My diamond painting came and I have so looked forward to it that I told myself when it came I would drop everything and do it!  Well, almost....I cleaned up the house and prepped for supper and got the garbage out and back in first.  Then...I did this..............that's just the canvas and it is covered in plastic as the canvas has adhesive all over it.  If you're interested in learning more there are plenty of videos and tutorials on You Tube.  I watched several before starting out.  Granted....this is a big one but I really liked it so I told myself..."go big or go home"!
You are given bags and bags of "drills" or plastic crystals that have one flat side and one dimensional side.  If I do this more than once I will definitely invest in a bead storage container..........I'm using a pill box from my parents and some little jars but there are still lots of drills..........they give you little tiny sealable bags to put the beads/drills in but that would be a pain before too long.  I may be making a trip to Walmart again...............
Here's the little bit that I have done...........I think this might be my new addiction!  But it's still going to take a long time....that's just the border!  Whoa Nellie!  Donna from Stitching in DooDah did a bigger one than this.  I should ask her how long it took her to do it.  I think I will probably set aside so much time per day to work on it and maybe I'll get faster and more proficient.  I really enjoy it so far.
I also got some water color pencils.  I've always wanted some of these and I thought I had bought some but alas I had not.  So now I have!
I bought some 'masking' tape in assorted colors and they come off in strips.........so pretty!
Last but not least.....I have been trying to read The Mueller report for weeks now.  First I knew I couldn't read the Justice Dept. copy on their website as I would have to sit in front of my pc.  Then I downloaded one for my Kindle but it didn't format correctly and was unreadable. Then Audible came out with one for free but I couldn't assimilate the information as fast as they were reading it....old age I suspect.  So, finally I ordered a hard copy that I could read at night in the comfort of my bed at my own pace.....400 some pages may take me awhile but I'm determined!
I am signing off now to get the girls fed and out before the storm blows in and also get my dinner cooked in case we lose power.  Hopefully the storm will have lost steam by the time it gets here!  One can only pray!
Happy Trails!!!

  1. I am interested in how you like the diamond painting. It looks like fun. You got some lovely Mother's Days gifts.

I hope those storms fall apart soon. I have family and friends in Wichita. They got some weather damage there.

  2. I’ll have to research diamond paintings on the Net as I don’t really know what they are. This is the first time I hear about them. From your description, it sounds interesting.

You are pretty courageous to dig through the Mueller report. There is so much on Trump everywhere that I try to get him out of my mind. I hope that Mueller himself will testify, and hopefully that will shake things up.

  4. We've just had a weather report from Oklahoma with a video of a very large tornado funnel on our BBC Scotland news channel! Hope it doesn't come your way. I love your enthusiasm for all of your hobbies, the latest of which looks very complicated! Great post.

    1. My state neighbors Oklahoma but most of the time it skirts us and goes up to Missouri (above me) but not always. We've had some close calls and towns hit nearby. We had one but it was on the other side of the lake here. Thank you for visiting. I will be by to see you!

  5. You are a braver woman than I! For all of it! I've never seen the diamond painting before. Looks really neat but I don't know that I'd have the patience. :)

  6. That diamond painting will be a happy hobby for some time! I'd not heard of it before, but googled it and now I feel enlightened about a whole new-to-me craft. I'll be curious to know if your new tome will put you to sleep or keep you awake! I hope you're safe in the storms crossing the country. I don't remember where you live (have the thought you're in Arkansas), but when I saw the weather report on the news last night I immediately thought of my friend, Sam.

    1. YEs, I am in North Central Arkansas about 1 hour from the Missouri border. Unfortunately Texas and Oklahoma seem to get the brunt of the storms and Missouri but we have had our share too. Thankfully, I'm still here and I have a basement but many here don't. It's very expensive to dig a basement because of all the rocks.

    1. At first it sounded sort of chinzy and some I saw were not my style, unicorns and skulls etc. but then I saw a few really gorgeous ones and that's when I bit the bullet. It's not a very expensive hobby at all. I just hope I live long enough to finish it! LOL!

  8. I have never heard of diamond painting. I can't start a new hobby. I can't start a new hobby. I need to keep repeating that. I love all of your gifts to yourself.
I've been watching the storms in the midwest. Family in Nebraska had tornadoes VERY close by yesterday. So scary. Sometimes I wonder what we're thinking of wanting to retire back home. I know it's predicted to be bad again today to I'll continue to pray for you all.
    Blessings,
