Yop Week #20

It's another YOP week again!?!?  It seems I just blogged about it but maybe it's because it doesn't seem like I've made much progress.  I have worked on things but as you'll see it was slow going and I really didn't work on the things I need to be working on!  Do I have a self-defeating issue or what and a non-finishing issue too evidently?  Oh well, I really enjoyed my week though and all things considered I made progress...just not always with my crafts.
I got some more yarn to finish the granny stitch shawl......I thought it was a one skein project but after one skein you could not wrap it around your neck like I prefer to wear them.  I was making this for myself but the more I work on it I am thinking my daughter might like it?  I'm not sure....I could gift it with a return option if she doesn't care for it but I think it would keep her so warm too in those Iowa winters.
The sweater got worked on but then the shawl took over.  I need to measure again as I am past where they said to knit but it still doesn't seem long enough to me.
I did get another 4 squares done on my Cozy Memories Blanket.  It is almost across my bed in width.  I have a full size bed.  All the yarns are worsted but what a difference in many of them.  Some feel like worsted and some feel like DK and smaller but I will squeeze them all in regardless.
When I got the 2nd skein of Mandala from Lion Brand in the Chimera colorway, I picked up 2 other skeins in the Centaur colorway.............I think I want to make another shawl with it but after Christmas.  I'd been looking for this colorway so that's why I grabbed it when I saw it.
I'm having company for Thanksgiving so I have been cleaning and also organizing my crafts as the plastic container method just wasn't working for me.....not sure if that counts for a YOP project but it should! LOL!  I posted some pics this past week but there is lots more to do!
As for other fiber adventures.......
I watched the following podcasts this week:
The Budget Knitter - a new one that only has 6 out so far and I like him
Stitched in Sweden (caught up)
The Wooden Nest - new and only has 2 so far
The Bakery Bears - on Episode 38 of how many???)
I also heard of a discount craft site called Blitsy and I have not used them but I looked and they had ChiaoGoo  needles for like $5 and I know they are more than that.....so check them out.  They have all kinds of craft supplies.  I'm not sure where I heard of them....here?  Maybe The Budget Knitter....but thank you to whoever it was!
I hope you had a wonderfully creative and crafty week!
Happy Trails!!!

  2. The Budget Knitter. I’m going to have to check that one out. I like your new yarn. I haven’t seen that colorway before and I really like it. I’m trying to figure out some new ways of organizing my crafts. I just can’t seem to figure it out. Every time I think I have it organized, I realize that it’s not working. Your shawl is looking beautiful too. I think your daughter will love it.
    Blessings always, Betsy

    1. I am in the thick or organizing and it's like once you start you are consumed! LOL! With the possibilty of company coming I am under the gun for sure but truth be told I have wanted to do this for awhile now. Now that the summer chores are over I can attack the mess!

  3. At the moment (since spring, it seems) I have accumulated too many projects that I have little interest in finishing. Wait a minute... let me be clearer -- I'd love to have them finished (I like them just fine). I just don't know feel like doing the work to get them finished. Is that shawl done in LB Mandala yarn? It's so pretty!

I definitely count organizing my crafts as YOP fodder. I love when others do too, as it inspires me to take a better look at my stuff. You put me on a roll making stitch markers recently. Maybe you can inspire me to bust some more stash - and organize what's recently been acquired.

    1. You are my role model....what are you talking about? You have stitch markers while I haven't even ordered supplies! LOL! I have too many WIPs and that is part of the reason I am organizing as they get buried in the back of the closet or in a bag plus I can't find my materials when I want to make something and I know I have them! It's my own fault but I am really happy to have the energy and the persistence to finally 'get a move on'! Stay tuned for craft room pictures!

  4. I concur, the shawl needs more yarn on it. I was wondering how one skein would do. I like the new colorway you picked up for your next shawl too. What pattern are you using for your sweater? I really like the looks of it so far. You make it as long as you like. After all, you are the one going to wear it and if it is too short, it will just hang in your closet forever. Yes, organizing your craft room counts as a YOP project LOL

    1. It was a pattern from a friend that came in kit from Mary Maxim. It's on my project page in Ravelry if you want to take a look. It's such easy and relaxing knitting. It's really boosted my confidence and also improved my knitting. I got the 2nd skein and I'm going to town on it. I just don't know how much toleave for the border. I think I will start it fairly soon.

  5. Thank you for the podcast names, and the Blitsy idea. I think your daughter will love that bright shawl to wrap around her neck. I am loving that you are still enjoying your mitered blanket, and as I said before the yarn for your sweater is perfect.

  6. You are wonderful crafty lady my friend!
i loved these really pretty and delightful knitting stuff ,it reminded lots of yarn with which my mom used to knit sweaters for us :)
i did little knitting before my marriage when i lived with my parents in northern part of my country which is cold enough and winters are quite long there .
but since i moved after marriage here to the southern part of country winters are quite mild and short ,sweaters are need hardly for 20 days or month only!

i think your daughter would LOVE this skein.

  8. Love the colors you use in all your projects. Love the yarn for your sweater. I always go beyond the length of the pattern because I want my sweaters longer. I want a shawl but will have to wait til after Christmas just too many things to make. hugs, lj

  10. Hi Sam :)) You're making a lot of nice progress on all of you projects, I'm envious! The shawl is very pretty and I love your blanket. A shawl is such a nice idea to keep a gal warm in the winter that's for sure. I just use a pet blanket at the moment, not too glamorous and very hairy lol!
