Working Wednesday!

Monday I had a doctor's appointment in Mountain Home.  It was supposed to storm but it didn't, thank goodness!  I didn't run into a single drop of rain there or back but it was overcast which is really great for driving...no sun in your eyes.  The doc said the toe is healing good and no more antibiotics needed (one less pill 3 times a day!) but I still need to soak and change dressing once a day.  I go back in 2 weeks.  He said it will take 3-4 months to totally heal and for the purple color to disappear.  Boy!  When they say it takes longer to heal when you're older they aren't kidding!  But it doesn't hurt or crimp my style at all so I'm happy.
While I was there I stopped at Hobby Lobby.  I was looking for some ornament kits that I had seen (Bucilla Ugly Christmas Sweater ornaments....too cute) .......
but they didn't have them but they did have this yarn on sale..........so I got these 2 to make doilies.....
They also had watercolor pencils on sale.....we're talking 30% off ...............I've wanted some of these for awhile now.............
I also picked up some tags for decorating for upcoming Christmas gifts.............
When I got home I was "toast" so I kicked back and knitted on a Christmas gift except for a few chores that I could force myself to do...lol!  I was going to stop at Lowes in Mountain Home but I was already too tired by then so home I went.
Yesterday was garbage day which I was so pleased as I had 2 full containers out by the street and usually I only have one.  I have been forcing myself to throw out 10 things a day not counting regular garbage. By the end of the week I had a full garbage can!  I  did laundry, hung clothes out, went to the store for a few items to make dinner, cleaned the litter boxes and made dinner.  I am trying to eat healthier so I have pinned some recipes to my Health board on Pinterest.  This one was healthy, good, and inexpensive to make.  Here's the link to the recipe
I thought it was very good but I did use some parmesan on it and a bit more salt........ here's the veggies just before roasting in the oven...........
Here's the final dish.......
Today is beautiful so I will be working outside cutting limbs and dragging them to the burn pile.  I have more laundry, ironing, some cleaning, bill paying and ordering of some supplies.  Ms. Claus's Workshop is in full swing!
Happy Trails!
P.S.  Preseason games are on for NFL and I'm trying to stay abreast of baseball also as my grandson, Uriah is really into that but alas.....there is nothing I can watch as I have no satellite and you can't even get the games on the radio to listen to without paying a monthly subscription fee.  If anyone knows how I can listen to the games please let me know.  The sports teams will regret being so greedy as the future generations won't go into sports they cannot follow or afford and more and more people are getting rid of their cable and satellite.  Thank goodness they haven't started charging for podcasts.....yet! LOL!

  1. Hi Sam :)) Oh, I'm sorry it's taking so long for you to heal...remember I sprained my thumb when we got our friend's dog Pavlov? Well, it still hurts when I bend it in certain ways and it happened on June 12th!! Nearly 2 months ago sigh...I'm trying really hard to take care of myself because two months without a thumb doesn't work for me lol...

Watercolour pencils?? Never heard of those! Do you dip them in water to "paint"? They sound pretty neat.

The pasta looks really nice. Once in a while I'll just make a simple pasta with similar roasted veggies, it's so fresh and easy to digest...and like you said easy on the wallet, which I always like! :)

I used to listen to the Expos back in the day...they would always black out the games on tv, but people lost interest and wouldn't go to the games...and now where are the Expos? Not even in Puerto Rico anymore! Try this link Sam, don't know if it'll work or not:

    1. I had checked Tunein the other day when the Cubs played and couldn't get it but your link worked! I'll be able to listen to the game today at 2:45 p.m! Thank you so much! I can even listen to replays of games....awesome! I told you..... you are amazing! You're like a fairy godmother! LOL! I also remembered that last year there was a site called freefootballradio that I was able to listen to some games but it takes awhile to find a station as they have a long list of them and they don't all work.
Sorry to hear your thumb is still hurting...ouch, and we use our thumbs constantly. My toe doesn't hurt and doesn't get in the way of me doing anything.
The watercolor pencils are used to draw or color in a drawing and then you take a wet brush and blend it in. I'm going to try it on my art challenge cards and I'll post how it works. I've never used them before but I thought I might do better with them rather than straight watercolors....like I said....I am NOT an artist! LOL! They have smaller packages too. I got the 36.

    2. Oh I'm glad! :) I hope you get a good connection though, sometimes those sites don't stream too well. LOL I'm your fairy godmother! I love it! There I just sprinkled some fairy dust! :))

The watercolour pencils really do sound interesting...I'm going to look into them a little more because I do love watercolour painting. When I sketch I don't like it when I can see my pencil marks too much...next time I'm in town, I'll go to Michael's and check it out, they always have some kind of 40% or 50% off coupon for a product, it might be a nice investment to get my painting going again!

  2. Glad to hear the toe is healing, sorry to hear it is taking forever to completely heal. Those ugly sweater ornaments are fantastic. I wonder if you can order the from Amazon. Those would make great gifts for my family. Must look them up. Love the watercolor pencils. I know you will make lovely items with those. Your pasta dish looks amazing. I am so happy we found gluten free pasta here. I love a good pasta dish and would have really missed being able to have it. I am going to copy that recipe down too. Yummy.

As for sports...............I know we get sports on our AM stations here, but only the local teams. We are going to drop our cable/satellite next April and I have warned hubby the sports thing will be spotty from now on. He is a huge sports fan, but he said he refuses to pay the prices for cable anymore. We have the Amazon Firestick and there are sports (NFL and Baseball) networks on it, but they are iffy at times. Google your area and see if they broadcast anything on the AM stations for sports. I would think they would be broadcasting the baseball playoffs soon and then the world series. As for football, same thing.

The cotton yarn will make lovely doilies and I can hardly wait to see how creative you get with the gift tags you bought.

  3. F.Y.I. Rain's link worked for all MLB teams for listening to. And I remember using www.freefootballradio.com last year for listening to college and NFL games. I want to get them on my Roku though otherwise I have to sit near my pc and I would rather recline in my bedroom! LOL!
If you don't find them on Amazon you can probably find them on the Bucilla website. I thought they were so cute! Thanks for all the suggestions too....between your hubby and the rest of us sports fans....we will beat the system somehow! I'm not trying to cheat but gee whiz....in the old days people did not have to PAY for radio!
    Have a great day!

  4. I have some of the watercolor pencils and they are such fun to work with! I've listened to NFL games on the radio when they weren't on my tv station. I guess you could google what you want to listen to and get a link to the station that is airing it. Love your pretty yarn! Enjoy your day!

    1. Did I explain the pencils correctly? I've never used them before.
I can listen to NFL and MLB now on my pc but Tunein has the NFL games blocked which is on my Roku where I would like to listen to them at night. The sites where you can find most are www.freefootballradio.com and www.freebaseballradio.com
I am able to get the MLB games on Tunein if I look for the stations on freebaseballradio first.

  5. It looks like you had a very productive day. I'm sorry to hear your toe is still bothering you, but happy to hear the antibiotic's are done with. I made an appointment today with the Spine Center that I saw last year for my back. Hubby is saying he wants a second opinion since it's been eight months and I'm still having a lot of pain and the bone hasn't healed at all. I don't have much hope that they can do anything but I figure it's worth a co-pay to see if they have any suggestions at all.

We, too, are planning on giving up our cable tv as soon as our contract is up in April. I don't even remember the last time I watched a cable TV show. It's just so expensive! I'm with you on your last sentence. I sure hope they don't start charging for YouTube podcasts because that's virtually all we watch anymore. I also listen to Pandora radio on the TV as I'm working around the house.

Love those ugly sweater ornaments and I have never heard of watercolor pencils either. Since I'm horrible at drawing it wouldn't make any sense for me to invest in those. I did go to Michael's today and bought some yarn at the 30% off yarn sale to make Piper a blanket for her new big girl bed. She has requested pink and white to match her new bedspread that Papa bought her when we visited last month. Have a lovely day my friend.
    Blessings, Betsy

    1. The toe is nothing really...no pain at all. I'm surprised they didn't put you in a back brace to ensure healing and keeping it straight. Don't give up hope! I've never tried Pandora...I'll have to give it a whirl.
Have you seen that darling pink and white daisy blanket on Pinterest? I think it is so precious. There are white daisies surround by pink and they are squares. A blogger I know made one and it is so pretty. I'm sure there are lots of lovely patterns out there and I am turning into a pink girl myself! LOL! A big girl bed already? She was just little the other day! You will enjoy making it for her and she will love it! I hope you are pain free today and from now on! Hugs ~ Sam

  6. Oh my, that pasta looks soooo good!

And I love the mini-sweater ornaments. One year I knitted a bunch of mini-Christmas stockings for the tree. It was fun.

    1. I'm knitting some mini-mittens right now for the grands 'annual ornament'. They wouldn't understand the ugly sweater thing but they are so cute. Mini-stockings would be darling! Maybe next year.

    2. Hi Sam,

After some Internet problems I'm back. Good post. Baseball is something we don't get over here, but I'd love to see a game.

    3. Hi Treey! Glad you got your internet problems fixed! I don't have satellite so I can't watch them but I can listen to them and you could too at these sites....www.freebaseballradio.com and www.freefootball.com
It takes awhile to find a station but the ones at the top are the most likely. I used to listen to the Chicago Cubs games when I was younger and then got 'busy' but now that one of my grandsons is really into baseball I thought I would get back to it so I can share his interests. I've always loved sports of all kinds. The only thing I don't care for is the morality of some of the players....they're supposed to be role models...good ones not bad ones. Have a great week...or what's left of it!

  8. Headed over to your blog as I read your comment on Treey's blog and loved what you wrote to him. Then I read this blog post and loved it as well. You're a busy lady! I hope you love the watercolor pencils. I really love using them and I think I bought the same set you did. I'm hoping to buy another set of the regular watercolor pan sets but with the metallic paint.

You're pasta dish looks amazing and I plan to try it this weekend with a side salad. If you would like, please head over to my blog. I just found out I have an artistic side!!! Who knew! So I'm on an Art Journey and exploring different mediums and just having ever so much fun! :)

    1. If you make that pasta dish...I would recommend you use 1/2 the tomatoes and twice the spaghetti....just an FYI. Thank you for your comment as sometimes when I write things I wonder how they will be perceived...when you can't see the person's facial expressions in a comment or a reply. I always remember the saying...."the road to hell is paved with good intentions"! LOL!
I will stop by your blog and I do love the water color pencils so far....not sure I'm using them properly but I like them so much better than regular colored pencils....you can really tell a difference.

  10. You're very welcome! I tried to listen to the Cubs/Arizona game last night but I couldn't stay awake that long! LOL! I haven't tried to see if there is one for soccer but that would be great too.

  11. We tend to call it 'football' here in the U.K. But it's ok, we're used to you Americans calling it that. One of the links expected me to pay to listen to the radio. That's a first.
