YOP Week #48

What a week this has been.....it's been that way for the last month actually.....5 steps forward and 10 steps backward!  But I am still progressing...just much slower than I would like!
I finished the legs on Grayson's giraffe...........now there's just tail, spots, face embroidery and stuffing and attaching.  This is a knitting pattern from Susan B. Anderson and is a Craftsy class.  This is my 2nd giraffe and then there is one more to make for Uriah............
Since they all have birthdays in July.....I decided to start on Uriah's for a change of pace and color...........his is  more gold and a rust colored orange.  Grayson and Sam's giraffe were  made with old acrylic yarn I had and this new acrylic I got at Hobby Lobby and it is so soft!
The Hotel of Bees shawl is coming along......I'm on Row 43 of 134 and the KAL ends May 31st so not sure if I'll make it............it is a strange shape and unusual instructions but I  seem to be doing alright.  You have to count each and every stitch or it will not turn out so it is not T.V. watching material....for me anyway..........
I moved my progress keeper up after I blogged last Sunday so you can see how far I've come this past week...I absolutely love the design of it all but my hand gets sore from working on it.  I think it's the cotton yarn as my hand never got sore when I crocheted in the past with non-cotton yarn.  It is a very nice yarn though but cotton just doesn't 'give' very much.
We had several storms this week and it seems the roof is getting worse not better.  This last round of storms had me dashing around with bowls everywhere!  I am feeling like I am moving backwards not forwards lately.
I had a visitor this week.............this cute little gal came though the yard on her way to lay some eggs....I've never seen this coloring on one before................
This was one plant last year and it has spread into about 3 or 4.....nice as I can transplant them to other areas............
Since I am always talking about Miss Peeps, Miss Grace gets sort of left out of the picture so I thought I would give her a spot on this post.....she is is so good compared to Miss Peeps and never bothers my yarn or disturbs anything or climbs up on anything except bed or chair which is perfectly alright....... she's such a sweetheart.................
That's all for this week.........I'm trying to stick to one or 2 projects so maybe I can make more progress.  It's time to start planning for YOP Year 7?  Really?  Where has the time gone?  Plus, there's Christmas to start making for!  I have been de-cluttering and trying to maintain at least minimum standards on the house and still searching for my chargers for several of my tools.....what a tangled web I weave!  I hope you had a good week and that your roof is not leaking but at least I have one!  Some  people lost their entire homes and all the contents with some of those storms so I am very fortunate!
Happy Trails!

  1. What a pretty cat. Her fur is so fluffy. Man, that is one big hole in your ceiling. I hope that gets patched up soon. Your WIP's are coming along great. Cute to see those little, four legs.

  3. Ugh. Leaking roofs. Just. Ugh. I hope this week brings sunnier weather. Your cat is a cutey pie, and I can't wait to see the giraffe all put together. I love your pic of the egg laying visitor. Amazing colours. Here's hoping you find all your chargers this week.

    1. Yes, this is going on 1 1/2 years trying to trace that leak down. I have a fairly new roof so it's not the roofing but it is something to do with the flashing and/or the chimney area somewhere. I found the battery but not the charger to the weed trimmer and my "jaws" I have both so I will be able to trim bushes and trees but the weeds will have to wait! LOL!

  4. I wish they could find that leak and get it fixed! Love that pretty turtle. We saw one on our hike today with pretty colors on the shell. Hugs!

    1. Hopefully they will eventually find it and fix it...I know they feel bad but I told them not to worry...their persistence is much appreciated! Persistence always wins in the end.

  5. Miss Grace! Oh my goodness, she is so cute! What a precious face. I'm so sorry about your roof. What a mess for you each time it rains. But...I love your shawl. It's turning out beautifully with that beehive pattern. I use Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn a lot. It's what I made my sweater with and I agree, it's very soft to work with. I've been wearing my sweater a LOt this cool spring and it's wearing very well. No signs of pilling at all. Have a wonderful Monday!
    Blessings,

    1. She is just as sweet in temperament too. I've heard a lot of people like HL yarn. I don't like the fact that they will not pay for their employees birth control when they employ mostly women and I try not to shop there but I was desperate for yarn one day! I don't believe they should legislate women's health based on their personal beliefs...if that was the case I would have had 12 children or more! It's bad enough women don't earn as much as men and it's always the men legislating what women should do with their bodies....shame on them....I bet they cover Viagra! Sorry.....I just had to get that off my chest! LOL!

    1. I just wish Grace would stick up for herself a bit more....Miss Peeps can be a little bully! Thank you, I ended up tearing out about 6 rows on the shawl as the count got messed up....oh well...it will be fine, like the roof....eventually! LOL!

  9. Your projects are beautiful, and that shawl will be gorgeous!
Sorry about the leaky roof.... sure hope that the issues are resolved soon.

Lovely flowers. We have still been too cold for our blanket flowers to thrive and bloom; hopefully soon :)

    Have a great new week.

    1. Thank you, Kerin.....I couldn't remember the name of them! It does seem like it's been a long Spring here too. It was only in the 50's this morning but it warms up to the 70's when the sun comes out. I'm not complaining though because Summer's here are too warm for my taste! LOL!

  10. Sorry about the leaking roof, but lovely projects. That shawl looks gorgeous!

The tortoise had me quite excited - I love them and used to have one when I was little - and the colouring of her head is amazing!

    1. I don't touch them because they can carry salmonella but I do love them and I had never seen one with those colors before. She was quite accommodating too as she never pulled her head in. I did tell her I just wanted a few pictures of her as I thought she was so beautiful and that I would not bother her and she seemed to understand! I think animals understand a lot more than we give them credit for.

  11. Miss Grace is so pretty!!! What a sweet photo! :) Hope you're doing well Sam, I'm late posting and also hoping by the time I get to your last post, that your roof has been fixed!!!! I'm like you, I can't watch tv or even listen to music when I knit, I'm always counting stitches. The projects look very pretty!

    1. Thank you, Rain. I've been terrible about blogging this week or reading any too. So much going on in the Springtime! How's your gardening coming along...I have to stop by for sure!

    2. Everything is going so well, despite the chilly temperatures! I got my screened-in porch all done and maybe half the seedling/plants transplanted. It's still to cold for pumpkins and tomatoes, but the containers are all ready when Mother Nature decides to cooperate!!! :)

  13. Sorry to hear the roof is still giving you problems. But you are right, you do have one over your head. Many in this world do not. I give thanks every night when I go to bed. I may not be exactly where I want to be, but I'm safe. The world just gets crazier. Your shawl is lovely but does seem like it will take some time. The giraffes, I know, are time consuming, too, sewing all those parts and pieces together. I tend to stick to much simpler projects. Miss Grace sure is a pretty kitty.

    1. Just wait until you have grandchildren! All of a sudden you want to make them the world! And they won't want Grandma Sam's hand mades for long! LOL! Me too about the gratitude...I never worry about much anymore as I know most of it is out of my hands but I will speak up and out when it comes to injustice of any kind. I have become an 'armchair activist'! LOL!

  15. Oh, I hope you get your roof fixed soon and you can rest with with assurance that your house is dry. Beautiful projects, turtle, Miss Grace, and flowers! I haven't planted the first flower! And my daylilies are probably just a week or two from blooming. I've never been so late getting new things in the ground or in flower pots!

    1. It has been a long cool Spring even here but I am loving it! I still have stuff to plant....a basil plant and some lettuce seeds but up North I never planted until Memorial Day weekend as it was a 3 day weekend and I worked long hours.
Stella Di'oros are blooming but not my Asian lilies. Plus, with out my weed whacker you can't see them! LOL!
