#3 Finish!

***UPDATE ON KITTEN*** She was out there "crying" this morning when I got up and as soon as I got dressed I went out and gave her fresh food and water.  Later she was crying again so I went out and sure enough she had eaten it all!  I gave her more and was so happy she made it through the night and was eating.  I just take it a day at a time.

My 3rd finish this week is this but I forgot to take a "before" picture.  This was an old hand mirror that belonged to my Mother and it is heavy but the gold plating had seen better days and whatever was on the back of it had come off.  I remember her using this mirror when I was a little girl.  I decided to "refurbish" it........I spray painted it pink.............
and then used some paper I printed off from the internet to put on the back with Mod Podge.
I used some crocheted trim to put a bow around it as I didn't have any pink ribbon.  What do you think?  I may look at ribbon when I go to Wal-Mart next time but for now this will do.  I hated to throw it out but it looked so awful before...now I can still have something of my Mother's without it being an eyesore! LOL!  What do you think?

A few more granny squares before I close!
Happy Trails!

  1. Hi, I hopped to you from Kimberly. Down here, we too, have a stray kitten that was on our doorstep nearly 3 weeks ago. We think he was barely 5 weeks old then, weighed 670gm, but that could be wrong, as he wriggles so much on the scales. His eyes were blue, but have changed to green about 7 days ago, and you can tell their age by their teeth. We have a wooden cat box he sleeps in at night, and runs round the house twice a day,Time consuming!!! p.s. hang in there, our "Boris" toilet trained himself at 6 weeks old, or thereabouts. Love your wee grey girl. Cheers from Jean ( aka Nancy J) in New Zealand.

  2. Thanks Nancy J! But I can't catch it.....he or she is feral and wild but if I can just keep it alive I'll be happy!

  3. Sounds like kitty is fitting right in. The mirror looks great! I'm still crocheting the white project, but ran out of yarn today. I will have to make a trip to town soon.

  4. Good for you on the blanket as I know you are so busy with your farm and chores. I do the handwork and reading when "the legs" just wont' go anymore! LOL! Today I finally got kitchen and laundry room vacuumed and washed, cleaned washer and dryer (the HE washer gets moldy and you have to take it apart and wash it....yuck!) family room vacuumed, dishes(Oh, the dog hair from all the Spring shedding!) laundry and that's about it....not much but progress. Maybe I'll get a few more things done before bed. I hope so.

    1. Hi, Cucki! I need to stop by and see what you've been up to. I haven't done much lately as the outdoors is taking all my time.

  10. How nice that you have your Mom's mirror. I don't have much of anything that was Mom's, none of us children do. I also remember teh one my Mom used and her hairbrush too. So glad the kitten made it through the night and wants to eat. That bodes well for it's future. :-) I think the fabric cutter would work great on cotton fabric. The blade fits in almost any rotary quilting cutter. I got my heart monitor off yesterday after a month of wearing it. No results yet I think it was more of a precaution than anything else. I had a few "episodes" and lots and lots and lots of family history of early age heart issues. Have a lovely Friday my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

    1. Well I sure pray the results are good! I'm going to get one of those blades and then my holes will be more even probably too. The hole making was the hardest part. Thank you for sharing that info. Stay well!
