YOP Week #39

I have skipped several weeks here on YOP but that's because my priorities have shifted.  Blogging and a few other things have taken a back seat to several things this Spring.  I am prepping for a city wide garage sale, selling items on various venues and going through my belongings with a fine tooth comb.  This is way more than "Spring Cleaning"...more like "Lifetime Cleaning".  So, while I will continue to blog and try and stay in touch it will not be as often.  I discovered that there was much time spent blogging, reading others blogs, replying to others blogs and just plain spending too much time in front of the computer.   I want to move back North and live closer to my grandchildren and I had better get going as I am not getting any younger and my energy reserves are depleting much faster each day! LOL!  Also, my workload has doubled again with outside chores and landscaping.
But I have gotten some handwork time in when my legs are too tired to carry me anymore or when I need a break.
I am happy to report that "the blanket" is almost done....block #52 of 55 so next week you might see a finish not counting the lining which I need to order fabric for.  I'm sure you're tired of seeing it so I will not include a picture this week.
Easter is on the way and since I only sent cards for Valentines Day and St. Patrick's Day I thought it was about time to send a surprise box to the grands so...........I'm planning on some of these....
with my favorite Noro Kureyon wool yarn.  It's all about the colors and I used this yarn to make my leaves last fall and loved how they turned out so when I was thinking of eggs I immediately thought of the Noro.  The colors I have though were chosen for leaves not eggs but the yarn unwinds to reveal more colors than you bargained for so I think it will be good in the end.  I think I will be ordering more of this yarn as it is a definite "go to" yarn for me making small decorative items and more.  I'm not sure I would want to wear it as it is wool and the scratchy kind but I sure love it for everything else!
I also would like to "whip up" a few of these which are compliments of Revoluzzza's .........aren't they just darling?

and I have been really wanting to make some of those Japanese knot bags that Kim made.  Such a pretty way to organize all my WIP's and Kim said they fast and easy!

Japanese Knot Bags - Free Sewing + Knitting Pattern Round Up!
I have been working later and not watching as much t.v. so there hasn't been as much crochet time but I've made a few more preemie hats.

I did find a washable and dryable soft wool mixture yarn that I want to get for these hats...I think it was Lion Brand and sounds better than the acrylic but being it is for a hospital I knew it would have to be washable and dryable.  I'll have to try it.  Has anyone used it?  I think its called Baby Wool.
I'd feel much better using natural fibers on babies or anyone for that matter!
Spring has arrived for sure but yesterday was a whole different ballgame.....the reason the daffodils below look "blurry"
is because it was snowing like crazy!  Here's a better shot of the snow coming down.
It snowed all morning but none of it stuck as the temperature was 36.....obviously up in the sky where it was coming from was 32 or lower. LOL!  Today is supposed to be in the 60's...crazy Spring!
There are some new neighbors that have arrived but I don't know their names yet.........not sure if they're staying for the summer or just passing through.
I couldn't get this red bird to turn around but it was not a cardinal female or male...that much I know.
I have not seen a robin yet.  I think they just did a "fly by" from the deep South and went straight North as people up North are seeing them back . I usually have them in the summer but none so far.
I hope you are enjoying your Spring!
Happy Trails!

    1. Trust me...I worry about me too sometimes! My new email doesn't work either...they want to call me or text me every time I log in to make sure it's me....I don't have time for that! That's Yahoo....crazy people....so I'm back to my old one and pray it works. It's funny, I don't get mail from people I know who have emailed me but strangers who are trying to sell me something seem to have no trouble getting into my email basket....go figure! Thanks for your concern....really.

  2. We're doing life-cleaning too, although a bit more gradually I think. I went through all the paper files the other day, as I had to do it anyway to get the taxes ready. Gavin has been going through all the computers and electronics - bit by bit the things we don't use are being posted and sold on Kijiji (like Craig's list). And I've been doing pretty well on destashing yarn. The next big thing to tackle is the clothes cupboard. Maybe in the next week or two?

    1. Thank goodness I am not alone! LOL! It is very slow and tedious work but I didn't accumulate it overnight so it's not going to disappear overnight either. Good luck on yours too!

  3. We are getting some spring flowers popping up here and there too. Looks like you are still getting fun time, despite work. Happy Spring!

    1. Yes, It's how I take a break so that's why it takes me so long to finish items! LOL!

  6. It seems crazy for you to still be seeing snowflakes flying. And I think you'll do great getting ready for a big sale like that. You'll have a good turn out. Love those cute bunnies. I should try to make some too! Enjoy your afternoon sweet friend. Hugs, Diane

    1. I was surprised by the snow too! It's really been quite the winter here for AR but then it has been for most of the country. Then next day it was in the 70's! LOL!

  7. Good luck on the sale. Any this? We are thinking of doing a garage sale too. I'm not site though how Gung Ho the husband is about it. How do you price items?

    1. Actually it's my first one in years but I pinned some stuff from Pinterest also that I need to go read. Pricing is the hardest....but I base it on traffic and how much I want to get rid of something but don't gip yourself either. My problem here is we're all old and wanting to "scale down"...that's why the City Wide is nice because people come from all around....thank goodness! LOL!
Do search on pinterest for garage sale...

  9. Hi Sam! I am always happy when I see you have posted something to read. I always feel the downside of Spring is the increased time spent on chores--you know--the sorting and decluttering and then all the yard work. Insane you are still getting snow, but I guess it isn't even quite April yet. I have bookmarked those adorable sewn bunnies-no time to make them for the Grands this year, but next will be a different story! They are just so darn cute. I sure wish I could come help you clean and declutter as I can only imagine how much your must be wanting to get moved up north and closer to family.

    1. Thank you, Kim. You really made me feel good as I was wondering if I should keep blogging as it is so time consuming but then I miss you guys when you don't post so I guess we're all in this together and so nice to "go visiting" with our blogging buddies! I only got the eggs done....no know bag yet or any bunnies this year either. I had to get their "boxes" in the mail in time for Easter.
Boy, do I wish you could come and help me too! LOL!

  10. Good to see you again in your blog. Missed reading but you were full of info this week. Good luck with all that cleaning. It has hit our part of the world too. We have started cleaning out closets and will work on other areas of the house each week. Love the Japanese knot bags. I love mine and am looking forward to making more. Love the bunnies. Must bookmark those for future sewing. Have a great week.

  12. Hi Sam!
You have been very busy, indeed! Spring-time is a wonderful time, and there are always plenty of things to add to the 'to-do' list. Sounds like you are getting a huge jump on your spring cleaning, just getting ready for the town yard sale.
Love the little eggs.. I think they will be a big hit with the Grands.

You are such a busy-bee... always doing things.
Thanks for sharing your projects with us. You inspire me!

    Have a happy day!

  13. Crazy weather. I need to do some 20 year cleaning over here. The lifetime stuff is up in the loft above the bathroom. And the rest stored somewhere in Canada. Never expected to be over here this long. Good luck with getting everything sorted. Organizing and purging and cleaning are my least favorite things to do. Just takes so much time. We are on Spring Break and I thought I would get something done along those lines, but hasn't happened yet. Take care, Tammy

    1. I never expected to be down here this long either but God had different plans and who am I to argue? LOL! It's been an adventure and an experience but it's time to move along now. The problem at my age is you start thinking about "if I died today look at what my children would have to deal with!" That scares me into "paring down"...that and the cost of moving it all! LOL! Enjoy your Spring Break...I'll be over to see what you've been crocheting!

  14. You really have been busy. Good to see you check in though!

Garage sales are a fantastic opportunity to sort through belongings, aren't they? I did a few over the years and it's so useful to have a particular purpose to finally think about getting rid of some stuff. Even without any garage sale I now try to find something to give away every time a charity collection comes round - that way I am trying to avoid the buildup of clutter. It's hard for me, though, as I am prone to collecting!!

This spring the weather has been mad - we had a hailstorm here yesterday, interspersed with brilliant sunshine.

    1. I too love to "collect" and now I am faced with it all. I like your idea of trying to keep the buildup from happening in the first place! LOL! Now that's an idea....and the one where you can't bring anymore in until you get rid of something? I needed that one years ago!
Yes, crazy weather and now the severe storm weather starts here which can be even crazier. Do you have tornadoes and severe weather like that? I will be over to catch up per usual me! Ha! Ha! Thanks for stopping by.
