Day #3 of porch cleaning

I missed yesterday for blogging and I've given myself 4 days for cleaning the porch (boy am I slow!).  But in my defense there was laundry, ironing, and a bath squeezed in there.  Oh, and I changed the sheets too.  As for the porch, I rounded a corner...............
I sometimes feel overwhelmed with all that needs to be done around here but I have decided to just take a room at a time and just CLEAN and ORGANIZE.  I get the urge to paint and fix and I have to ignore that urge and come back later or I'll never get anything accomplished.  Trust me....I've done that before and ended up with a bigger mess!
There's a door behind that bookcase.  I washed the panes on it but the lock doesn't work on the door so I decided to block it off.  I moved the bookcase from the living room and placed some "extra cookbooks" on it but I still have room for more on it.  Yippee!
I put a little magazine rack next to it which also has more room.  Notice the orange paint on the wall around the corner?  Long story but I started painting it when my eyes went South and haven't gotten back to it since I've had my eye surgeries....someday.  But for now I'm just going to CLEAN and ORGANIZE.

I washed the adjacent window and took down its screen and found an old gauzy type curtain panel that I doubled over and clipped with cafe curtain clips.
So, that was yesterday and today is Day #3 and I gave myself 4 days but it's looking like it may take more.  I'll see how much progress I make today.
"Use it up, make it do, throw it out or buy it new."  So far, I've used, made do and thrown a bunch out.  There will be no "buying new" until I am done with the entire house but meanwhile I will be making a list of "necessities" that I can purchase or thrift for later.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
I did notice I need batteries for those battery operated candles! LOL!
Wish me lots of progress today.  Am I the only one with the Fall cleaning bug?  Are you getting out your Fall decorations?
Happy Trails!

  3. I do wish you luck. Cleaning & organizing can be overwhelming.

I just challenged myself to do one creative or organizing thing each day. I took Labor Day off, but I am 2 for 2 so far.

    Again, Good Luck!

  4. Yes...it seems like Fall does inspire organizing, and fluffing... maybe it's because we know that we're going to be cooped up all winter ***smile**.

Love what you've accomplished, and I love that you've used what you already have! So smart!!!

  5. I always say I will clean and organize by tackling a small spare at a time but I never stick with it very long and never get much accomplished. Good luck! Tammy

  6. Hi Sandra,
I saw your post on Goodreads and thought I'd stop by.
I have the cleaning bug too. I've enlisted my daughter and we are having a garage sale in a couple of weeks. I called the thrift store so they will pick up the excess as soon as the sale is over. I'm looking forward to Fall, my favorite season.

  7. No Fall Cleaning around here yet..just projects that should have been finished over the summer:)
I did get my desk clened off maybe that counts..took me two days...and you thought you were slow...laundry and other crap takes time and takes me away from my objective. I had three garage sale cookbooks to find a spot for...your pictures made me wish I had a porch:)

  9. One room at a time is a good idea so it doesn't get too overwhelming. You are not alone in doing Fall or autumn cleaning.....I realise that I do it too! I have done lots of cupboards this week :)
    Happy weekend.

  10. Wow! You've juggled a lot of stuff back there. It's a good thing you did not let distractions get in the way of your cleaning. Anyway, I like the wispy look of the gauze curtains. As for me, I still got plenty on my fall cleaning and decorating list. Thanks for sharing! I hope everyone is in the best of health this season!

  11. found interest from your post. Thanks for sharing! You did a great and fulfilling job, Sam!
It’s good to hear that you really find time to clean and organize your room. Anyway, using that old curtain and clipping it in panels is a brilliant idea. It made the window catch the sunlight even more. I also love cleaning and organizing, so I really enjoyed reading your post. Thanks for sharing that! You really did a great job! Kudos!
