I think it was the first time this little one had ever seen a vulture and his Mother obviously hadn't taught him it's not polite to stare.
Pretty soon other guests started arriving.......
And then the feasting started in earnest although by then the vultures had already filled themselves up...on either a rabbit or a squirrel. I couldn't really tell. But they don't kill anything....they're very patient and wait until something dies or is killed by something or someone else.
Time for a family photo or rather a family of one as the others couldn't stop stuffing their mouths long enough to pose!
I was surprised the pictures turned out as good as they did as I was taking them from inside the house.
It was bread making day too (least you think all I do is stand around all day taking animal photos ,although I can see why you might think that).
I also made a custard pie and it is SO good and SO easy! I used to make this years ago and lost the recipe. I think originally it was on the side of the Bisquick box although I remember there being coconut in it but it was the same technique and super simple and items you probably already have in your house without going to the store! Love those kind of recipes! I used to get people calling me saying they were an hour away and did I mind if they stopped? AHHHHH! Around here there is nothing open after 8:00 p.m. and that's usually when people would arrive from the North....just driving through....yeah right! So, I learned to always have some items on hand to whip up something fast and good. This is SUPER fast and SUPER good!
This particular recipe is called:
Magic Crust Custard Pie
1/4 Cup butter
4 eggs
3/4 Cup sugar
1 pinch of salt
2 Cups of milk
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1/2 Cup flour
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend for 30 seconds. Pour into a buttered pie pan/dish. Make sure it's your largest one because I tried one of mine and it overflowed! Yes, there was a mess. If you have a deep dish use that one or if necessary a casserole dish will work. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. The flour settles to the bottom and makes its own crust and the top is crunchy. It's great while it's still warm or chilled....either way it's a "keeper"! I wish all my recipes were "magic" recipes like this one!

Great photos! Especially since you were inside while taking them. I was bird watching yesterday. My family thinks I'm crazy but I enjoy watching them and trying to get a good photo. My ex-husband's grandmother used to make me egg custard pie all the time. It was my favorite. This recipe sounds so easy. Might have to give it a try. Best wishes, Tammy
