Progress in the wrong areas..........

I was supposed to start a sock knit along today but couldn't find the needles needed so instead I took down some filthy old fabric blinds and all their hardware and pitched them and washed the window (inside only at this time of year) and put up some cloth napkins I got at a sale for curtains.  I then started in cleaning my open shelves and decanting beans and other staples into canning jars for storage.  No knitting but the night is young!  Now where are those darn needles????  Stay warm!!! Or cool depending on where you are.

  1. Lovely curtains. I'm just the opposite right now. I don't have curtains or any kind of covering on the kitchen window but we have wooden blinds in all the bedroom windows. There are roman shades in the living room in a wood/grass sort of thing. I hope you are staing warm. It's is colder than you know what here and according to the weatherman, there's an ice storm headed this way. Thankfully, I got out today and bought yarn to work on a blanket for a friend. Stay warm and find those needles!

    Hugs,

  3. I'm delighted to hear your going to knit a long with the socks, I think its going to be a great way to build sock knitting skills and with lots to ask if I run into trouble.
I love the Ann Budd book and her plain sock at the start is the first socks I made for my daughter! My sock yarn stash is very limited so I just picked a pattern that would suit Alan from that book to match my yarn and hoping it will work out, please feel free to do same one, we can enourage each other along. I got the materials ready yesterday and measured Alan's foot but didn't cast on just yet as I want to work on them during the day when he's at school so it is a surprise.

  4. All of my kitchen curtains are actually hand towels. I like them much better than curtains you can buy in the stores these days. I hope to learn how to knit socks this year....right after I finish the last two projects on my unfinished list.

  5. That's a brilliant idea to use table napkins as curtains........now why didn't I think of that?

    Hope you find your dpns.

  6. Hello! :) I am a new reader to your blog and I think its wonderful!. I love the new curtains. What an ingenious idea!..Even though you didn't get any knitting done you sure have been productive. That happens to me too. I start something I think will only take a short time and it ends up being a project.. Im looking forward to reading more of your writings!

  7. I've been washing up some things around here too. Linens hanging in the kitchen that get so grimy. Great idea to use the napkins for little curtains. I often can't find what I'm looking for. :) Have a great weekend. Tammy
