NaBloPoMo Day #25

Today was GORGEOUS......69 F sunny skies and perfect!  But the next 3 or 4 days are going to be rainy so you bet I got out there today!  I went out to the highway and filled my tank and then stopped by the Dollar General and the grocery store for a few things.  I'm set for the holiday now!
Here's my menu for Thanksgiving and the days leading up to it because I can't be making all this stuff in one day!

Slow Cooker Cranberry Apple Cider
7 Layer Greek Dip
Turkey breast (bone in)
Mashed Potatoes and gravy
Sweet Potato Casserole
Scalloped Corn (I may replace this with green beans)
24 Hour Salad
Pumpkin Pie and whipped cream

After I got home I burned some more papers and sat outside in the sun. Then I took a walk.....it was just too nice out to waste any part of this day........the lake across the street..........
the trees reflected in the water............
a few leaves still hanging on...........
 some beautiful weeds................
Look what I got in the mail today!!!  I couldn't believe it!  I ordered it on the 23rd and today is the 25th.......it must have been in transit on Sunday but that is still darn fast!  The Fat Quarter Shop is in Texas which is our neighbor but still that is so awesome!  I ordered from 123 Stitch the same day....although they are in Utah so we'll see when that arrives............so exciting!  I love my treasures!
I worked on Santa Sunday today because I never got to it yesterday........
and now tonight I'll stitch on Monthly Monday!
Here are your Thanksgiving tidbits for today!
You've probably seen these before but I thought this was genius and a good way to hide those spare rolls!   No, not THOSE spare rolls.....toilet paper rolls! LOL!
Okay, this is why you need those 'fat pants'..........no I am not making this but I want to.........

That's all for today folks......I hope you have nice weather where ever you are because from the sounds of it Thanksgiving is going to be stormy in lots of places including here.
Happy Trails!!!

  1. We had some beautiful weather here today. And maybe for most of tomorrow. But then we're headed into cold temps again. Your menu for Thanksgiving and the days leading up to it looks delicious. I have to go out again tomorrow for some food items. Meijer was outrageously expensive on some fresh produce I needed, so I'm holding out hope that Aldi will have in stock what I need. I hope you enjoy your cooking and stitching, Sam!

    1. I hope you find what you need at Aldi's. I wish we had an Aldi's. My daughter swears by it. I heard a gal once say they had sock yarn at an incredible price! Enjoy your prepping for the big day and I hope you are all better now!

    2. I've heard this from others. The Aldi's around here have never stocked yarn (that I've ever seen), but produce often can't be beat. My son's making ratatouille and I agreed to pick up the ingredients. They had everything I needed except eggplant. I stopped in Kroger and they eggplant at only 99cents each. I'm now officially done shopping. :)

  2. It was a gorgeous day today, wasn't it! I really needed to have been working inside this morning, but instead, I rode in the tractor and helped put out hay for the cattle. Your Thanksgiving Menu sounds so good! I'll bet you are a wonderful cook! I feel hungry tonight!

    1. Oh, so you do farm! How wonderful! I would have done anything to be outside yesterday...it was just a perfect day. I am not a great cook but I love to eat and I love to make from scratch so I know what's in it! Do you have grass fed beef? Do you belong to a CSA(Community Supported Agriculture)? I couldn't find any close to me so I buy grass fed beef at Walmart of all places! LOL! I also buy organic eggs as I refuse to buy eggs from those that treat those poor chickens like science experiments where they never see the light of day or get out of a cage...but I digress. Are you cooking for TG? I hope you have a great one!

  3. It was much warmer today in Ohio, too. Confusing, though. I wore my winter coat to take my grandkids to preschool and almost melted. I wore a cardigan to pick them up and it was just right. Then I had a meeting until 5 pm and it was freezing. Back went on the winter coat when I drove the kids home at 6. But the sun was nice, even when it got cold.

  4. It was a beautiful day here too. We are expecting rain Wednesday through Friday. Our mountains are looking to get over 22 inches of snow during the storms. All our snow skiing friends are thrilled. No, we do not ski. Those caramel apple cheesecake bars look so yummy. Yup, have my stretch pants ready for this weeks festivities. Your menu looks perfect. Love the toilet paper cover too.

    1. Yep, it's raining here today and it might clear off for tomorrow and then TG big storms and maybe tonight too. High winds so I hope we don't lose power or my sump pump won't work in the basement and then it will flood! But it's only happened once so I pray that's it plus it has to rain really hard and a lot. It must be neat to look out and see mountains. I don't ski either but I would love to sit in the lodge with some knitting and hot chocolate and watch it snow! Take care!

  5. Spitting rain/snow here, a bigger storm is due in on Friday. Southern Minnesota is getting clobbered with this first storm....we may get an inch now. Errands were accomplished today and the turkey is in the fridge thawing out. Pumpkin Bread is on my list for tomorrow and a bunch of other stuff I should do! Glad you went for a walk!

    1. It's raining here today and I threw together a breakfast casserole that had to sit in the fridge overnight. My turkey is defrosting also. I'm hoping the rest of my supplies come so I can work on my new projects on TG day.

  8. Hi Sam, What a beautiful day you had! We had snow yesterday and some flurries today. Cold too, around 22F right now. Your menu plans sound wonderful. Mandy and I ran to the grocery store a ittle while ago and I couldn't believe how busy it was on a Tuesday morning. Lots of people must be on vacation.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
