Tuesday - Cleaning and Organizing....still!

I bet you wondered what happened to me...well...I was either glued to the t.v. trying to keep tabs on Irma or I was getting ready for my garage sale which was Saturday.  It was a big disappointment...maybe $20 tops.  But the good side is I spent a lot of time and energy cleaning and clearing out the garage.  There's still more to do but Golly Miss Molly....I got rid of so much stuff!!!  Granted, it is still in the garage as garbage day was today but 80% rain and wind leftover from Irma.....needless to say it has not been windy nor has it rained a drop!  They are so bad here about predicting weather!  I could have taken lots more out to the street but I have cardboard boxes full of stuff and if it was going to rain it would have been a real mess.....so I declined.
The garage is looking better despite the fact that the sale stuff is still in there and the garbage....but you be the judge..........
 below is a before picture........
here is an after picture with sale stuff on table and freezer........whatever didn't sell is either going to Thrift, metal collector man or garbage...it is NOT coming back...lol!
I got most of that shelf cleaned and cleared off and now it holds my gardening supplies but there is a piano in front of it that I couldn't get all the way behind.....the movers left several pieces of furniture in my garage instead of putting them in the house and there they sit!  As soon as I get it cleaned out I am going to hire some local movers to move them into the house where they belong!
The ladders (tall extension ones are going) and so much more!  The screens are from the porch where the roofers were working so I took them out to the garage but back they went to the porch now!
This was part of the sale..............
and this.............
and this............
This is all the garbage except for the 2 tables which will go to the Thrift Store..........
more sale stuff on my new shelf..........
I got all around the garage except for the back wall which is mostly hardware that will go with the metal man when he comes...........those shelves will come down and I will have a work bench back there with my tools..........
I just got to the corner there when I quit and I didn't do the shelf yet....I was exhausted and filthy!  But the whisk broom was my friend for getting cobwebs etc. off of the wood and items.  I have quarter round and some wood pieces that I will save and I whisked each and every one of them and got them off the floor.
I have my old wagon wheel pot rack my son made for me and my old screen door...now those are precious items!  I unearthed some other items I've wanted to use but they were buried amongst the junk! LOL!  So, that's what I've been up to and Sunday was recoup and then yesterday was laundry and make a dinner so who knows where the time goes but I know a lot was spent checking on Irma!
I hope you are all fine and dandy.  Oh, Irma has finally arrived here.....it's sprinkling! LOL!
Happy Trails!!!

  1. Wow! You got a lot done my friend. No wonder we haven't seen hide nor hair of you. I'm sorry you didn't make more money, but at least you were able to get through everything and know what you can get rid of. When we had our garage sale I told Dennis if it doesn't sell it goes to the thrift store. It's not coming back in the house. Ha ha! We stuck to it too.
    Blessings, Betsy

    1. Actually, you are so right! I was so happy to clean up and clear out that the money really didn't matter...not that I couldn't use it...who couldn't these days but it just felt so good to get rid of stuff!

  2. Wow! Lots of work done. While you are doing that, I am deep cleaning my kitchen. Tomato season is over early for us sadly. We have family in FL and GA, so we were watching the news too.

  4. It feels so good to get things cleaned and organized. I'm spending time trying to simplify things around here after all we had to do to get ready for the storm. We had to move furniture away from the windows and bring everything in from outside and the lanai...whew! What a mess! But we are safe and I appreciate your prayers and kinds words my friend. Hugs, Diane

    1. I am SO glad you are okay! I really think your governor did a great job too...he was so sincere and seemed to really work hard to ensure everyone's safety. The nursing home deaths were a real tragedy though. The 'mess' is what I've been dealing with on my porch too with the roof leak....what a drama....today I have to go to Mountain Home and get roof tiles to match mine....they're trying one more thing and then after that it is a rubber roof, I think. Your house always looks so nice...I only wish I could get mine under control! LOL!

  5. Sorry your garage sale was a bust. At least you got your garage under control and it won't be long now before the whole thing is spic and span. Great job. I am sure it feels even better for you than me LOL. I am sure the metal guy and they thrift store will be super happy with their treasures too.

    1. Yes, at least I feel I making some progress...daily maintenance is going to have to take a back seat if I am ever going to get this place in shape but actually once things are organized it makes the 'dailies' much easier!

    1. Yes, Leigh! Most of the time it seems that by the time I am done doing just daily chores I would be too tired to tackle the 'big' jobs so I have now learned that I have to do 'the big rocks' first and I will always find the energy to do the little jobs later in the day.

  7. I get exhausted just reading your posts! You definitely are a do-er! I see so many cool things that I am surprised didn't get snatched up, but I'm sure the thrift store will be grateful for the donations. I love the wagon wheel pot rack, are you going to hang that back up in your kitchen?
