YOP Week #1

This is going to be a different format for me this year and I hope it helps me to stay focused and finish more projects.  The idea behind my plan is to be able to cover my wide and diverse scope of creative interests but also to finish items, learn new techniques and design my own unique creations.  I will list each category and there will be something to finish and then something to start instead of start to finish.  The reason being is that I have WIP's (works in progress) in almost every creative endeavor I have ever attempted.  In order to permit myself to start something new I have to finish something in that category.  There may be some blank areas simply because I haven't 'unearthed' that category from my plastic bin museum yet but when I do those blanks will get filled in.  So, here goes!

Project List for 2017 - 2018 Year of Projects:  (once I get the hang of my new system there will be start and finish dates, links to patterns when possible, material lists and names plus any equipment  used such as needles and sizes, but for now this is all I have for you....I apologize)

 This is the 2nd sock...........
      start   ==>

15. Utilizing books and magazines I already own....thank you to Ella for this great last minute idea!
      Yes, Ella, everyone here knows I am a shameless copycat of great ideas but I always give credit to
       the creator of the idea! LOL!
      finish ==>
      start   ==>

     I think that about wraps it up for now and although I have many more interests such as woodworking, decorating, painting and DIY.....I need to stop somewhere! LOL!  This will be my post for July 1, 2017 but it will also be a page on the right sidebar of my blog.  The post for today will remain the same but the page on my sidebar will get updated as the year progresses.
Happy Trails and Happy YOP 2017 - 2018!
P.S.  It is never too late or too early to join in this group......here's the link to the Ravelry group for Year of Projects
Come on along...we'd love to have you!

  1. Oh my.........you have so many wonderful crafts happening. What a great list and the way you designed it is fantastic. This must be the WIP finishing year. Seems there are many of us with that as #1 on our lists. Now that you have me totally hooked on bullet journaling, I am hoping it prompts me to complete more and start less lol.

  7. Look a thing all those ends for the little stars! I'd struggle to finish that too!

    I love all your finish/start ideas. And you did mark that you were going to do one pattern from The Simply Charming book, so you've already incorporated Ella's idea there. Good to see socks have their own category!

    Happy July 4th! Thanks for the Canada Day wishes. We're hoping to paddle board out onto the Lake this evening to watch more fireworks tonight :)

  10. Hi Sam!!! Thank you for the link! I was looking for your group for a while but could never find it. I'd like to join, but I have to figure out what my projects will be! I think your list is wonderful. It's so important to enjoy the hobbies that bring us pleasure. That's the secret to a happy, peaceful life isn't it? Feeling cozy and enjoying everything! Hope you're feeling great today!

    2. Well, I did join and am in the process of setting up my project list...now if I can figure out how to keep up my progress there it might be helpful lol...Ravelry is a new site for me and I have to take the time to learn all it has to offer. I realized though I've had an account for years, just never used it! I'm actually going to buy some yarn for project number 1 tomorrow. I have to blog about it on the weekend! :)

  11. Cool idea about finishing before starting. I have the plan that if I buy yarn I must cast on within a week of purchase so I don't just buy for some future project that I have yet to determine. That way I only buy for a project in mind. I finally got my stash in control and I want to keep it that way. I am so glad you are with us again this year as I feel we are kindred spirits.

    1. That's a great idea too. I don't buy too much yarn unless it's fora specific project...the only problem is I have a zillion projects! LOL! So glad you are here again too!!!

  12. Sam, I love seeing how you have structured your list. I truly love how this Year of Projects project can be customized to each individual participating. I'm seeing a thing or two (or more?) on your list that I either didn't see in progress or had forgotten about. I'm so excited to see what you finish this year - as well as what new creative pursuits you begin. Your blog is an inspiration to me on so many levels. I'm looking forward to spending more time with you. :)
