Christmas in July!!!!

Yes, it's finally here!  Christmas in July and it is a day where us 'makers' start officially 'making' (if we haven't already) for the coming Christmas Holidays!  Gather up your ideas, check out all those 'pins' you've been pinning on Pinterest this past year, check out Craftsy's Handmade Holiday for their reasonable yarns, kits, materials, free patterns and FREE SHIPPING with keyword HANDMADE.  Order your materials and let the making begin!
As for mine.....this is the year of 'finishes' for me and most of my 'makes' will be gifts that weren't finished in time for a past celebration (tsk, tsk).  This is fortunate for me as it means I have already paid for the materials and for some projects there is already significant progress....Yay!  I have about 7 family members to 'make' for and of course my immediate family....Nitty, Annie, Grace and Miss Peeps, and friends.  Plus, there are a few items I may want to purchase for myself such as yarny goodness in the form of Advent Calendars.  Some are very pricey but I found the Opal Advent Calendar which is much more reasonable than the hand dyers.  I mention this only because you need to order ahead of time so they don't run out!  Also, there is Little Bobbin's Christmas Eve cast on (an annual event) which is for the sock knitters out there and you need to have your yarn and needles ready to cast on Christmas Eve.  Just yesterday, I finished last Christmas Eve's socks.....whew! These will be worn this coming Christmas Eve.
I already have my yarn for this Christmas Eve and it is gorgeous!!!  It is by Brazen Stitchery on Etsy and it is self-striping fingering weight yarn in the colorway "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" from the movie "Christmas Story".  See the sparkles?  She even included a Christmas pencil...to write my letter to Santa!

For those of you who are not 'makers', QVC has a Christmas in July special all day today where you can do your Christmas shopping right from home...in your pajamas.....with a cuppa!
July is like the most expensive month of the year for me.....crazy but true.  It is more expensive than Christmas partly because there are lots of birthdays, doctor and vet annuals plus I buy the supplies for the Christmas 'making' and of course the AC runs non-stop this time of year.  But, thankfully, this year I have most of the supplies already.     I noticed Lion Brand also has a Christmas in July Gift Guide
Just so you can 'get in the mood' here's a Hallmark Christmas in July Movie Guide
for your viewing pleasure!
If you know of any other Christmas in July special events please feel free to share them in the comments.....one can never have enough help when it comes to Christmas and the holidays.  Enjoy this day........the official starting point to Mrs. Claus's workshop here for the 2017 Season of Making!
Sharpen those pencils, make those lists and get those supplies ready.....we're off to a Holiday Wonderland!
Merry Christmas and Happy Trails!!!

  1. I am a maker, but have no clue on what I will gift this year. I didn't get cherries, and cherry jam was on my list, along with a Christmas ornament. I guess, now that I have to sit and rest my shoulder/arm, I most likely can surf the internet for ideas (or my handiwork books).

    1. So sorry about your shoulder! Sometimes we are forced to slow down and that's not always a bad thing.

  2. Dang it, Sandra. I hadn't even begun to think of Christmas crafting yet. Time to put my list together and see what needs to be gotten. You are ahead of me by a long shot. Need to find me some non wool Christmas sock yarn. Gotta go look NOW!

  3. Well look at you, how organized and prepared you are! That puts the rest of us to shame. I know I have two sweaters to make for Christmas and I have the yarn for one, other than that, no preparations or thoughts whatsoever of this years gifts. I feel like I'm in a dry spell here. How fun to read all of the things you have planned though. It's even better when it's paid for isn't it? Blessings, Betsy

  4. I gotta see if we can get the Hallmark Channel on our Roku. I do love the ambiance and atmosphere of Christmas. You are very sweet to make gifts for your family. My plans for the kids may have gone awry especially since I am attempting 25 handmade Christmas cards this year.

    1. If you can't get Hallmark (I don't have the Hallmark channel but I have the Feeln channel $5.00 per month) which has a lot of the Hallmark shows on it. Also, there is a free channel called Christmas Flix on Roku. Oh, handmade Christmas cards! You go girlfriend!

  6. Oh my! I can't even begin to think about Christmas. It's 115 degrees at noontime and I'm just trying to find ways to stay calm and cool. :) Good luck with all your projects. Everything certainly looks very festive.

    1. It's hot here too....feels like temps of 105-108 so they say. I stay in, close the curtains, light candles and pretend it is Winter! LOL!

  7. Hi Sam :)) Happy Christmas in July lol! Your post is full of vibrancy! :)) I don't usually make handmade gifts...in fact Christmas is just Alex, me and the pets. Neither of us has family we're in touch with and our friend base has kind of (purposely kind of) dropped off, we just enjoy each other's company with the pets. So all I have to do is concentrate on him, the fur kids and the FOOD...I usually start all that in September! :) I love the sparkly yarn though!
