It depresses me to spend money!

Unless it's on fiber! LOL!  But I had to bite the bullet and get a weed whacker so I researched and thought I could get a decent one for about $100 but not me...oh no....I ended up spending around $220 because the $100 ones had 6 steps just to get it started...and there was no push button start in case I needed it so...yada, yada, yada.  I must admit they were very nice and gave me one already assembled because one part literally takes 2 people!
I also, got 2 containers of 2 cycle oil and an entire reel of cord so it was really about $180 before I added all the extras but they didn't charge me for assembly which is usually $30.00....I can put things together but the guy there said it took 2 of them to put this one piece on.  Who thinks up these things?  They need more women engineers!  I still need a gas can to mix the gas and oil and he said non-ethanol is best but where can you get that?    Even he wasn't sure but he said it would last longer if I could find non-ethanol.  I got a 2 gallon gas can at the Dollar store for $13.00....this was an expensive day!

Not a pretty post but that was my day!  BTW, the Penelope movie didn't happen....it said it was 1 1/2 hours so I thought it was the movie but it was a 5 minute preview.  I did have a glass of 7-Up but I was too full from supper to make popcorn.  I was going to try out my weed whacker but I am pretty tired now and it is looking like rain.  I hope you had a good Saturday!
Happy Trails!

  1. Disappointing all the way around! When we were little my gramma would invite us to lunch. I always got a small bottle of coke, my brother got a bottle of root beer and my littlest brother would get his own bottle of 7up. Those were the days! It was so special to have POP!

    1. It was! Pop was a treat not an everyday beverage.

  2. Hi Sam :) I hate spending money too. It used to be fun to spend WHEN I HAD MONEY lol...but I think the weed whacker is a good investment. We had to buy a lawn mower last summer, and I hated spending that money...but it's always worth it to get a good one, that's gas powered. They recommend some kind of gas that we can't find here either...reminds me of a story my boyfriend told me. He was on a trip with his sister and her bf. They needed gas so Alex offered to pay for the fill up. Just as he was going to fill up, the boyfriend of the sister said "I only use Super Unleaded"...double the price right lol? And Alex said he KNOWS he saw the guy fill up with regular the whole trip. Anyway...I guess this isn't related to the lawnmower after all, but one does regret spending sometimes!!! :))

    1. I hope his sister ditched that guy...not honest and above board for sure! Now, I'm just praying I can fill it properly with the right gas mixture and get it started. You're supposed to crouch down over it to start it....uh, oh....that could be a problem....I can't crouch anymore! LOL! I'm like those signs you see in people's yards with the old people bending over....I'm either flat on the ground on my butt or bent over....my crouching days are over! LOL! The knees are the first to go! I feel better knowing I got a good one but it still hurts! LOL! I too remember those days when I had money and I am suffering for it now because I wasted a lot of it.

    2. Actually the same guy promised he'd take us all to Barbados this summer, lol...even when he said it, I internally giggled my butt off...he still lived with his mommy so how on earth would he afford 4 tickets to Barbados plus all expenses? Some people...yeah, he's a goner now, she finally saw the light lol...

Honestly Sam, I have to get Alex to start the mower. Actually he does the mowing 99% of the time, but once in a while I want to give him a break, but I have so much trouble starting it with that pullie cord thing. And I can relate to your last sentence, I feel like I wasted lots of money in the past too...makes me have regrets, which I try hard not to! We're only human.

  3. Drat! That is expensive, but a good investment in the long run, as you will have a much easier time trimming around your place.

Hope you have a great rest of your weekend, and get rested up :)

    1. I thought of you this morning as I was looking at Cross Eyed Cricket patterns for cross stitched mittens...so cute! I have to make ornaments....rather I want to make ornaments for my tree. I gave all mine to the kids so they would each have 'their' ornaments from their childhood and now my tree is bare! LOL!

  5. I went out looking for a smaller, battery operated one, just so I could weed whack while Hubby was at work. Our gas powered one is pretty big to handle.

  6. They all looked the same size to me. I have a battery powered one and it's the same size but I can't find the charger. It's the weight of them and getting them started for me but I might get a harness plus this one has ez-pull and an ez-start option if I need it. They need to make tools for the elderly!

  7. Exciting purchase! Everything costs so much anymore. I hope you can find the gas you need. We had to buy a new gas can and mold and mildew remover this weekend. See. We had exciting purchases too! :-)
    Blessings,
