What have I been up to?....Good question!

I don't know where the time goes but it does....I have been getting a few mundane cleaning projects done around here but nothing I can really brag about...lol!  But this I can.........I finished my first sock of 2 of my Hermione's Everyday Socks..........finally!  I have also started the 2nd sock and I have 6 of the 20  rounds of the cuff done.  I only have 10 days left to finish and enter into the Harry Potter drawing at Inside #23 group on Ravelry.....think I'll make it?  I don't know....it's a long leg and I have big feet! LOL!
I received some lovely cards from family that I forgot to show you............
It's so nice to get things in the mail besides bills!  I also got some other 'treasures'...........my paint by
number set arrived and it's HUGE..............but I love it....I'll have to hide away in one of the bedrooms to paint as Miss Peeps is hell bent on destruction around here, Annie can't seem to stop making messes in the house and Nitty is shedding like there's no tomorrow even though I brush her outside every day.  There is a lot of detail in this painting so now I'm wondering if maybe the cross stitch would have been quicker! LOL!  It's from an original painting by Paul Swan called "Winter's Hush' and I just love it.....
I also received my yarn for the Hotel of Bees shawl CAL...........it's seems like very nice yarn and it wasn't very expensive.   It's from Turkey and I found it on Annie's website.  I had seen the painting on Amazon for $20.00 and on Annie's it was only $10.00!  But she made up for it on the shipping so I guess you just can't win but still it was good deals on the yarn and the painting kit.  Have any of you used Annie's before?  I was pleasantly surprised at the quality.
My printer has officially died and of course, after I had just gotten all my ink for it.  But thank goodness I am able to access the patterns for several MALs and CALs and KALs on Ravelry through my tablet!  PTL!
I will be ordering a new printer this week and it will be a Canon as this one has lasted me the longest of any printer I've ever had and it worked great right up until 'the end'.  I didn't post about books this week as I'm still reading the same ones but I am watching Sweet Sparrow podcasts and a series about surviving in Alaska on Netflix.  I watched a good movie that Connie of Far Side of Fifty recommended on Netflix called The Great Gilly Hopkins...now, I'm trying to decide between Lemony Snicketts and The Crown....any suggestions?  I like mild, good stories with no violence, sex, or swearing (much)....that eliminates probably 95% of films! LOL!  I hope you're having a great week and I will be back!  Right now I'm off to make that Lemon Meringue Pie that I was going to make for Easter! LOL!  I told you I was slow!
Happy Trails!

  1. Oh the socks are very cute! I have a couple of hand knit socks and they are amazing to wear! We watched the new Jungle Book movie again and we love it! And I just did a book review on Goodreads for the Boys on the Boat. I know you would like that book! Hugs!

  2. I knew you could do it with the socks! It looks wonderful! I have never bought from Annie's but I've enjoyed looking at the things that they carry in the past. Painting! Is there no end to your talents? I would like to stop on over for a piece of that pie with a cup of tea. Perfect for the rainy afternoon that we're having again. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. ...and I was just about to ask, Sam, what have you been up to? :) Knit like the wind!!! I hope you can make it for your contest, that sock looks so cute!!! I would love to try knitting again! I remember having a good experience knitting in the round...if I could just get my knuckles pain-free...I'm still working on that one! :)

LOL...your requirements DO exclude I'd say 98% of the films these days...try some "film noirs" from the 30's and 40's...black and white, some drama, usually lots of suspense...Alfred Hitchcock stuff like Vertigo, Psycho and Rope...if you can find them! Or anything with Bogart, Edward G Robinson or Orson Welles. I'm a big fan of those pre-60's movies because they rely on plot and acting, not boobs and blood! LOL...

    Enjoy that pie!!! :)))

    1. Actually, knitting or crocheting may help your hands. When I first got RA I would crochet in the mornings with my coffee as it got my hand 'limbered up' for the day....it really helped...I think your hands move a little more with crochet.
I'm old and have watched all those movies! LOL! I'm more a Disney fan, Anne of Green Gables and Little House on the Prairie fan! LOL! I still don't take showers because of Psycho so you can tell I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to exposing myself to things that might stick in my head.....forever! LOL!

  5. Lemony Snicket supposedly hated my high school. Can't remember if he was student there. My girls like the Lemony Snicket series. The Crown is supposed to be very good also. LOVE your first Herminone! Excellent job. The Paint-by-Numbers looks fun.

    1. Wow! Interesting factoid! None of my kids liked their schools....we moved from the city to the country and the country kids bullied them! It happens everywhere and sometimes rural "life" isn't all it's cracked up to be. I love the country but there can be some real narrow minded people just like everywhere I guess. Glad to know your girls liked it as they have good taste in books/movies!

  6. I watched Gilly Hopkins with one of my grand daughters, It made her cry but I loved it. I have ordered from Annies before and they are a great company to work with. The paint by number is gorgeous as is your new yarn. Congrats on completing one sock. You're on a roll now lol. Inwish I could recommended a movie for you. Alas, hubby loves all the "shoot em up Tony" type movies. Good to hear from your blog today.

    1. Thanks, Marsha....I cried over Gilly too but I still loved it. Glad you liked Annies too. I think they have lots to offer and their prices are fair. Are 'shoot em Tony' movies about the mafia or spaghetti westerns? LOL! DO you not get to pick any movies?

  7. A lemon pie sounds absolutely divine! Yeah, most movies today have so many swear words in them. And violence.

    1. When my children were little I had a rating scale of my own....G was for good, PG was for pretty good, R was for rotten and X was for extra rotten.....that's what I told them anyway! LOL!

    1. Thank you, Cucki...there are some days when I think 'who wants to hear from a little old lady like me'? I lead a quiet and isolated life and although I love it I'm sure it's not for everyone and of course that type of life does not produce a lot of 'blog material'....but thank goodness for the internet as I can order "treasures" when I have the money! LOL! My blog friends are pretty much my only friends but you are all THE BEST! Love you too...big hugs!

  9. Hello. I found you over on the Hotel of Bees CAL on Ravelry and you sounded so upbeat, I just had to come by to read more! I've just finished watching the Gilmore Girls on Netflix and I think you might like The Crown. Loving your sock and your HOB yarn is divine. Lovely to 'meet' you.

    1. Oh, you would not have thought I was very 'upbeat' when I reached R5 on HOB shawl and posted last night! LOL! I love the Gilmore girls and I have been binge watching them, along with Heartland and I finished When Calls The Heart (awesome but I'm caught up) and several people have now recommended The Crown so I will give that a go! Thank you for stopping by and so happy to meet you too! One can never have too many friends! I'll look for you over on HOB CAL!
