Another wonderful day in paradise...........

Okay, well maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but I do enjoy my life and my days.  Today was a slow day...meaning I was the slow one but I trudge along getting done what I can until I run out of steam.  Today was bills and paperwork...not a lot of fun but grateful I have the money to pay those bills and enough left over to get to next month.
So, I celebrated tonight with this........chocolate peanut butter beer!  It's delicious but pretty strong as in a dark stout but I am really enjoying it.
Yesterday I worked on the porch and the day before that......I re-shampooed half of the room using Nature's Miracle that Betsy and her daughter, Mandy recommended and it worked!!!!  Thank you both so very much!  The rug looks great considering it's very old and it smells clean and fresh out there and just feels good knowing it is really clean now!  You gals are awesome!
I also washed the brick wall with Krud Kutter and got all the dry wall dust and hunks off of it.  Then I moved my old farm bench (I found it 30 years ago or more in the barn when I bought my farm) that I refinished years ago and put it on the porch.  Remember when I tore the doors off of my entry way closet? Well, they were sitting there and so I took the hinges and knob off and voila!  Shelves!
I used some pots I had to support each shelf and started putting my magazines on it.  I'm not sure if I will keep it this way but I am trying to 'group all things together' instead of things spread out all over the house so I can really see what I have and what I want to get rid of.....it's a process.....a long drawn out process but it's fun!
The red bench doesn't really go with the orange brick but I've really felt that I am making headway....whether or not I really am is another story but I'm having fun and that's all that counts! LOL!
I also used Krud Kutter on the grill grate and hosed it off outside but it needs a good scrubbing and some heat resistant spray paint I found here
The grill is inside and is to the right of the bench.  I also found my favorite green spray paint here (it's so like the old fashioned green they had back in the day).  Walmart used to carry it and now they don't.  Last but not least my favorite spray primer here which again, Walmart no longer carries but
Amazon does although more expensive but at least I can get them.
I finally caught up with last week's cozy memory blanket squares and now I'm working on this weeks.....the lime green is the first square for this week and the bottom 3 were last weeks.  It's already Wednesday too!  They look a little wonky until they are attached to another couple squares.  I can't seem to keep up and I haven't even started on Christmas presents yet!  Yikes Batman!
Did you know I have an 'undercover agent' living in my house?  Miss Peeps must get cold....she's always burrowing underneath my bed covers and now this.......the rug by the front door....she is TOO funny that girl!

Well, the rain has started, the curtains are drawn and the candles are lit............time for a cozy evening......oh, see the cards my grandson's sent me.....they drew legs on the leaves and made them into 'critters'......it helps that their mother is an art teacher! LOL!
I'm settling in with another new book tonight........my Halloween read for this year.........
I read her first book several years ago and was mesmerized by her writing and the story line.....I highly recommend it........in fact it was so good I want to re-read it and I rarely ever do that.  It was a library book at the time but now I want my own copy.
I'm off to eat supper and get my jammies on and curl up with a hopefully great book for Halloween....it's coming!
Happy Trails!

  1. Ooh, I have The Thirteenth Tale on my TBR. It has such great ratings. I like your new shelves. It's so organized and what great space it makes for your magazines. I've never had a porter before. I don't know the difference between that, beer, a lager, etc.

  3. That porter sounds yummy. I might have to look for a can around here. I tried the root beer, beer.....it was ok but much too easy to drink toomuch of it. I really like how you made those shelves. You are so cleaver. I need to get busy and get my book reading into high gear. I just get so involved in my daily chores and then knitting. I try to read in bed but fall asleep too soon. Hurts when the tablet falls on my face too lol. Looking forward to tomorrows update.

    1. I highly recommend sitting up in bed when you read your tablet! Ouch! LOL! I tried the root beer and there was an orange but they were too sweet for my tastes. I like the taste of a good beer and that Chocolate Peanut Butter was really good. I know, if I could get rid of my "daily chores" I cold get a lot more done around here! LOL!

  4. I'm so glad the Natures Miracle worked for you. I've never used it but Mandy has told me that it worked "miracles" for them. I'm impressed with your neat and organized shelves. I shredded an entire garbage bag worth of old papers today. A few other odds and ends done too byput nothing as impressive as you. Oh, I did make another pair of mittens. 3 pair done, 87 to go! :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  5. Hi Sam,
Ok after reading that I need NAP.Any way your shelf creation looks nice, more room for all those books and magazines that we need. Now I have to get those two books you are talking about, they look interesting.
About the OUTLANDERS. I finished it yesterday. I don't think you would like it, there are a lots of fights etc. because of the time period. I know when I got to page 400 I was thinking I would rather be reading something else, but I finished it because I wanted to know how it would end.
Rain here today, the leaves are so pretty I really should take a picture.
I see kitty under your rug, they are so funny, great company.
Well off to amazon to see about those books of yours.

    1. I started reading Bellman and Black last night and she is a good writer....no trouble reading her at all...as in I hate to put it down not because it's so exciting but because her writing just flows easily in my opinion. I noticed the ratings aren't as high for Bellman and Black as they are for The Thirteenth Tale, her first book. Thanks for the heads up on Outlanders....I think I'll pass. Yes, Miss Peeps just turned a year old not too long ago and she is still a 'work in progress' but has settled in pretty well. Both my cats go to the basement at night....I need my sleep and they are night creatures! LOL!

Me AGAIN. Is there an order to her books? I see on Amazon there were at least three.

    1. Oh.....3? I had no idea. I thought it was a long time in between books. I don't think so. I think each of her books are a separate story/novel with no connection to any of her other books. The Thirteenth Tale was like no other book I have ever read but absolutely fascinating. If you read it I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. This is not a psycho/thriller type book but it would be great Halloween reading and yet won't keep you up at night. LOL! Her books are really hard to describe...she's unique. I'm going now to look at the other book.

  8. I love your red bench! Looks like you are getting so much organizing done too. I can't wait to have time to read again. Yes, money to pay the bills is always comforting.

    1. I know...I have been turning the light out at 9:30 and sleeping like a rock and then up at 5:00 and sometimes 4:30 but I'd rather go to bed early and get up early...it just feels like you get a 'jump' on the day that way.
