YOP Week #20

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving if you celebrated it and if not I hope you had a great weekend!  I know I did but it has been very busy....more about that later and my Thanksgiving but for now I think it is Week #20 but it could be Week #21 of YOP...someone please let me know as I don't want to go back and count it out.  LOL!
Anyway, I've been hustling around here and for as slow as I am that is probably medium speed for you normal people.  I finished the plant markers but they don't look that much different than before.  I'll probably show you next week when I get them wrapped a little cuter.
I'm panicking about now as everything is supposed to be in the mail by the 12th to guarantee delivery by Christmas and my "list" is still in my head....not good!
Here's what I have to show you.........Grayson's hat...I will finish this by today for sure!  Just the ear flaps and the i-cord ties left to do.
I started and finished a cowl for my daughter.  I just need to weave in the ends.  If I could just hire someone to weave in ends I'd be a lot farther along!
Sorry for the lousy photos but little Miss Peeps was in attack mode and I was afraid she was going to snag things.   See that look in her eyes?  Watch out!
I have the corner-to-corner blanket as wide as I want it now and have used up 3 or 4 skeins of yarn (there are so many skeins of this stuff.....I might be able to make them a pillow to match).
Now I have to go revisit Mickey's instructions (Crochet Crowd on You Tube) on how to make it a rectangle instead of a square.
OMG!  Is that yarn hanging from her mouth?  Someone is getting a "timeout" and it's not me!
I crocheted 6 coasters for my son but again there are ends to weave in and they will be getting colored "stripes" in between each row.Hopefully that will fix the "blahness" that emanates from them at the moment.
These are the beginning of "reindeer" mittens (2 pair need to be crocheted) and then I have to find a pattern for shark mittens for Uriah as he is a shark fanatic!  I already know what I'm making for his birthday in July.  Lion Brand has a free pattern for a shark rug....oh yeah!
I have some sewing to do too but will I get to it?  Stay tuned!  Tomorrow I'll blog about books as I've finished some good ones.
I got this card from some friends in Illinois and that is exactly how I feel!  In case you're wondering how a person celebrates a holiday alone....here's how I did.  I got a Butterball turkey breast bone in  (I highly recommend it!  Delish!), I made scalloped corn, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy and a pumpkin pie with whipped cream.  While I cooked I watched a marathon of Anne of Green Gables that was on PBS starting at 8:30 in the morning.  I got several calls from family and crocheted and knitted and had a wonderful dinner with a glass of my favorite wine...Mad Housewife (name of the wine not me)! LOL!  It was a wonderful relaxing day filled with gratitude!  Later during the weekend, I got to actually SEE on television here in the South... the Bears beat the Packers at Green Bay and Iowa win too!  What more could a gal ask for?  It rained for the whole holiday weekend but we were cozy and full all weekend! LOL!
Happy Trails!
P.S.  Yes, the girls got some turkey too!

  2. Send your things on over. I'll be happy to weave in the ends. They don't bother me much. You have lots left to do don't you? I'll be sending happy thoughts to you to help speed you on your way! And yes I do think that is yarn hanging from his little mouth! ***Grin*** your Thanksgiving sounds lovely and yeah, yes, the Hawkeyes won! Blessings, Betsy

    1. Oh, I wish we were neighbors! I bet I could learn a lot from you and how you get so much done and are organized. I try but fail constantly. I bet you have your presents all bought and wrapped too! Thank goodness for role models like you!

  3. Sometimes they eat string...we had a cat that pooped red embroidery floss one week and blue the next week. The Vet said...don't pull on it! Miss Peeps is your troublemaker! Your projects are looking good:)

    1. Yes, I have a feeling there will be no Christmas tree this year. I think that would be asking for it. Actually my daughter did the same thing when she was little and ate a rubber band which I didn't know about until I changed her diaper and the doctor said the same thing..."don't pull it"! LOL!

  4. Your Thanksgiving sounds lovely! They say there is a difference in being alone and being lonely. You may have celebrated alone, but it sounds like you were most certainly not lonely! Your projects are wonderful.

    1. I guess that's why I posted it because I always get these "pitying" looks and comments and there is nothing to feel sorry for me about. I am a very happy alone person! Thank you for pointing out the difference.

  5. I'm always so proud of you...and proud that you are my friend. You are always working on beautiful gifts to give and you take care of yourself, too. I'm so glad you cooked a nice meal and enjoyed the day. We were by ourselves but we made a big dinner, watched a Leave it to Beaver marathon and the Dallas Cowboys play. I love those coasters you are making! Oh...we cooked the same turkey breast! lol Hugs, Diane

  6. As always you inspire me with your industry. Going to go see if I can find the shark rug pattern on Lion Brand. That sounds really nifty. :^)

    1. Well, you do the same for me with your projects...one good turn deserves another! LOL! Let me know if you're going to make the shark rug....maybe we could have our own little CAL or KAL.....I think it's crochet but not sure now.

  7. I do like that blanket. Funny kitty! If you can believe it, I am digging out that baby blanket that I never finished from years and years ago (again). I had to use different yarn, because it's not made anymore, but I hope it turns out. I have a rug to finish too. But first, some Christmas items.

    1. I know, I hate giving up on anything and I hated to waste all that yarn so I was very glad to find a "go to" pattern for any obnoxious or normal yarn you might have! LOL! I will be by later....promise!

  8. I'm glad you have the girls to keep you company. You always manage to keep yourself busy. And to feed yourself well. Some people wouldn't bother cooking up a holiday meal for themselves, but you never let that bother you. I like that about you! Very ambitious projects. Hard to believe it is December already. good luck getting everything done. If I was there, I'd weave those ends for you. :)

    1. You are such a sweetie! I think treating yourself well indicates a love of self and respect for God or whoever you might give credit. I think too many people put themselves on the back burner and have been conditioned that they cannot be happy unless there is someone in their life.....I'm here to tell them to live in the moment; in a crowd, alone, grieving, ill......you control your own thoughts and you can be happy regardless....I think it's that easy....of course I've had a lot of practice at being happy in bad circumstances so that helped! Unfortunately there are actually people that have gotten angry because I'm always in a good mood. Misery really does love company so I ensure I do not hang around miserable people! LOL! They will drag you down with them if you let them. I used to try and help them but some people love wallowing in their own self-pity. Don't get me wrong, I am empathetic and compassionate but because I am I can't waste it on people who really have nothing to complain about. I'll shut up now! LOL!
